This would be my first look at you - The Amazing Atheist posted your link on one of the videos he made about a year ago so I took the time to look at you. He says your a genius and I want to see what that looks like. As for a comment on this video: good show. Very good pointers. I like that you bring force to the faces of "scene kids", trying to get through their skulls, but you keep it in check - your a genial giant in some respects and I can honor that. good on you.
holding shit in your hands when you hit somebody is how you break your fucking fingers lmao, i know this because this girl hit me with a lighter in her hand and she couldnt hit me again because her hand hurt too badly.
those fucking fist flailing, spin kicking motherfuckers piss me the fuck off. going to SST in seattle of august 20th, i am most excited to see the faceless and animals as leaders. i love the progressive/technical death metal.
I'm glad to hear much hasn't changed at the metal show! The last few shows I have been to haven't been intense. We where yelling at slam dancers 15 years ago! This video brings back memorries
FUCK YEAH SUMMER SLAUGHTER!!!! Animals as Leaders, The Faceless!!!! Progressive Metal ftw!!!!!! Decapitated headlined too!!!! fucking fuck!!!! fuck yeah!!!!! And All Shall Perish without chris!!!!! which is still alright!!!!! I went to summer slaughter in Tempe!!!! It was so kick ass!!! 9 hours of brutal fucking shit!!! We do the old fashion moshing where I come from boy!!!! ONly one girl slam dancing, she got fucked up eventually, lolol.
Normally I really value your advice, but when it comes to surviving metal festivals I'm not going to take any advice from a kid who looks like I could step on his face without any trouble.
Other than that, alright then. My survival kit is a bit different.
Also, I got into the hatebreed pit a month ago. Kicked ass and got a concussion, fuck yeah.
@VerboseVindication I think the video was obviously a little tongue and cheek. but yea internet tough guy can become a syndrome. never doubt people by what you see on the interwebz
@Aerotides I was recommended AAL recently, I don't get them though. The music sounds bland and void of emotion to me, I feel like the music was written purely to be fast and incredibly technical. Which isn't a bad thing, but there is no contrast to make it feel awesome. I've gotten the impression they are the sort of musicians that are revered not for the music, but how well they play it. Like Joe Satriani.
ahh your lucky i went to mayhem again it was actually better than i expected but i would have gone summer slaughter if i could have gotten a ride. how was decapitated? btw the harmonica is a great idea.
you think you got it bad with out of control moshpits? i'd trade that for the standing-stock-still-gets-upset-if-they-dont-have-constant-direct-sight-line-to-the-stage fuckin lame ass indie kids in the uk..
but then thats a whole other scene, so not really comparable to the rawk shows..
but, fuck, indie kids, DANCE FFS!! WHAT DID YOU PAY YOUR MONEY FOR?!?!
seriously.. not dancing at a yeah yeah yeahs gig should be a deal breaker.. dance or out!
mosh pits are dying from what ive seen. i was at an immortal concert awhile ago and the floor was full of girls and kids who cleared the fuck out when a mediocre pit started.
no hardcore dancing thankfully, but the people on the side did not know how too push someone back in. i caught one guy on the side trying to kick me one time and grabbed him and asked "wtf is wrong with you?" the guy just looks back at me and says "people keep slamming into me" . . . . . this guys on the edge of the pit.
The last time I went to a metal concert was meshuggah and there was shitty audio quality. It was the worst fucking experience ever! Not saying they were untalented or anything just that it sounded awful.
thank you for covering this, i feel the same way about the scene kids at metal shows. i live on long island, everyone calls them pit ninjas around here, they do their gay dance and actually try to hit the outer ring of people or just people within the pit itself in the face. in the end its never really a problem, they usually get wrecked by majority.
though i can never shake this feeling of, 'get the fuck out of my venue'
You look like Jonah Hill :)

When you pulled out the harmonica, I was almost expecting something like "Play some blues to calm them down. That will break up any fight."

Fuck, mosh pits are fun. I've accrued some strange bruises though.
Have you ever gotten one of those bruises that swells very quickly and stays hard for hours?

@Aerotides yes they were but they were having some technical problems and the guitars went out a few times.

I love outdoors festivals! I like metal too, just not any core type metal. Nevermore and Opeth are my favourite bands when it comes to metal.

Lucky son of a bitch, I plan on going to the Slaughter when it comes to SF.
also your tips are very helpful, but I mean its still cool to wear ear plugs at concerts lol well for me I have to preserve my ears as a drummer.
and yeah last time I got elbowed in the head by some 13 year old douche he ended up flat on his ass near a stampede.
