@deepeightyeight hi :) The Casio CZ-5000 is triggering the Roland Alpha Juno-1 that is to the right of me in the video. My Roland Alpha Juno-1 has no pitch bend lever, broken keys, and faulty key contacts, so it can only function normally if controlled via midi. The Alpha Juno is a DCO/VCF/VCA synth. The patch is one of my first patches I programmed for the Juno years ago.
thanks for reply! thats so good you started so young and tought yourself!! good you had the access to it all at that age too and hopefully you had an encouraging family too :) my goodness a steinway would be stunning to play i imagine! i think your playing is amazing and i really do just sit there grinning when i watch you play, just amazing to watch!! :))
@ThePellerhead HI :) I started teaching myself to play keyboards/synths when I was 6. I have always played synths, but I have a Roland A-90 which has 88 weighted keys that is as close to a piano as I can get. Never had lessons. I loved playing Steinway grand piano while in college in my free time. Even though I started music with keyboards and synths, I always find time for playing just piano. 22 years and counting of playing synths. :)
I just figured out the name of the song "5th Planet"... and you are playing a "Jupiter" (the fifth planet). you seem very bright and talented, I bought a JP8 about 6 years ago and I don't think the thing has the original factory settings. mine sounds NOTHING like yours (regardless of playing ability). I watched your 11-44 patch (video 1) and wondered, do you have any suggestions how I can reset mine to factory so I can enjoy this thing? keep posting, good stuff!
@kohanjin Thank you so much for your kind words. :) Its awesome you have the amazing Jupiter-8. :) Most synths have a secret [power up + switch combination] to reset it. JP-8 (belongs to a friend) doesn't have factory patches anymore. The factory sounds are good but many of them are so-so, editing or starting from a blank patch is the best way to get that JP sound out of it. Power it up with all sliders at zero, (wait for tuning/calibration)...instant blank patch. :)
this is why I love hardware...its immediate! lets be honest...playing a real tangible interactive instrument is always the better route. no software for me.
I would also definitely buy your music! It is a great thing you are doing--playing music from your heart for us to enjoy. This has a really nice vibe to it. You could either cruise in your car with this music, or fall asleep to it. It's simply brilliant!
@novanstar Thanks! :) Hehe I know most people wouldn't put these synths together but I am an equal opportunity synth freak. Every synth has its place and every synth has something it can offer. :)
Very Very Nice. I love watching your videos. How is it you can afford all those amazing analog keyboards, but you still can't afford a decent audio interface? I got an Edirol M-16 DX USB digital mixer for $250 brand new - an incredible value. Don't let time give you any excuses to hold back your talent. Let your computer and the internet set your music free :)
@synthatik Rumor has it that the owner does not currently have room for it and that his gf prefers that the JP stays with Danielle for the time being :-D So no immediate danger it seems.
Great atmosphere and great playing! Do you have a collection of your songs somewhere? I would buy your album on cd or on other format. I'm sure you could find a record company to take care of the non musical matters such as distribution. Anyway, good stuff! :)
@tubeMonger Hi :) Thank you very much. :) Currently I don't have anything but YouTube as far as putting music online. I also don't have a decent audio interface yet. I just know that everything is too expensive right now. I once went to a recording studio about 12 years ago and it was expensive even then. One day though I would like to make a proper CD again. As far as record companies, I wouldn't even know where to begin with that. hehe :)
@TheSynthFreq you don't need record companies or studios. bandcamp and used MOTU 828s are your friend. you probably already know that and don't need advice from creepy guys from the internet.
have you considered a synthesiser that has aftertouch for modulation like the Multimoog or Pro Soloist? you use your hands enough i think you deserve it. btw, nice track.
@suitandtieguy :) Currently the only synths in my rig that have after touch/velocity are the D-50 and Emax SE. The MultiMoog and Pro Soloist sound like great options, I like the small size of the MultiMoog. I also really like the sound of the Moog Satellite (its Lunar sound), although the synth itself is very basic, only one osc, limited parameters.
@TheSynthFreq something i think is pretty cool about your music is that you obviously are interested in the natural sound of the instruments, and what they bring to the table. it's very easy to approach this stuff and say that we want to make it do this and make it do that, but i actually believe (and practise, hopefully), that we should not only strive to control our instruments but also understand what their gravity is and where it can take us. not really a reply to your comment but a thought.
@TheSynthFreq and also i should mention i would play a show in austin if you were in on it. actually you and mclemore avenue would be perfect but i don't know what kind of venue that show would go over at.
@Seidhepriest Hi :) I hope to find a way to upload music somewhere but for now YouTube is the only place. Once I check out some places online I will let everyone know. :) I will need to get a better audio interface as well for better audio. :)
A cheap and good audio interface is Roland Cakewalk UA-1G, it's 96/24 and has pretty good DA/AD stages. It'll cost you less than $100 online, probably around $80 or so.
You could then record to 96 KHz/24-bitto and upload 96/24 FLAC files and MP3 derivatives. My partner's OK with granting you unlimited bandwidth and storage as long as you post lossless high-res files.
THANK YOU!!!!

They're a bunch of lazy fat cats that have been getting their money for free for too long.
