If the screen is responsive as the g1 dream then I do not want it if the screen was fast moving like the newer android phone then I would buy this phone.

OVERALL: its a good phone to look at and show off to ur friends, and keeping everyone updates on what your doing (facebook, myspace, twitter, messagin), but only about half of the apps are worth downloading, the cameras crap, but really as a everyday phone u can find alott better for the price. (Sorry if there any spelling mistakes, and this is just my opinion of a 16yr old male and i can really critic the e-mail side of it becuase who the hell has a gmail email address). read below for more.

once dropped will come apart and the battery wil fall off it's soo anoying so ive had to duck tape the back onto the front, if ur not the most careful person i wouldn't recommend this phone, also when i got the phone the browser was great but as ive been using it it's starts to lag more. POS: The navigation is really easy, the apps that you get like facebook myspace photoshop all work great and are easy to navigate,

ive had this phone for roughly 5 months and its OK, if i had the choice again and i would choose a different phone (but im stuck on the plan for 24months:( ). NEG: the keyboard sometimes lags when typing fast, the camera is very very average and is only good when taking still shots in full light, the android software lags and will automaticly shut down whatever app im in, the battery cover is very flimsy and

I think the only way to get this phone without a data plan is signing a 2 year or 1 year, because 3 year requires data no matter what, which is why you'll see the huge price difference between the 3 year and 2 year.

Or, you could buy it outright.

I'm sorry to tell you you cannot.If you want it without a data plan,I suggest you buy the phone with no contract from rogers and get it unlocked and go with bell.Bell mobility doesn't oblige you to get a data plan if you have a smartphone.Except for the iphone because the iphone demands a data plan compared to other smartphone devices.

i just saw that too, i think it is the newer version. They dropped the other one because it needed a required software update, and a ROM update, so i guess this model has both.

All the HTC Magic+ has is the 1.5 OS plus sense UI. Other than that, there's nothing special about it.

A cheap marketing ploy by rogers if you ask me. These are standard free upgrades that google and HTC have for their phones.

Typing on the HTC Magic is pretty good though you still can't beat a physical keyboard. The good thing is that there will be an Android 2.1 update for this phone.

I have the dream, & yes, on internet I have seen some bad things being said about it. But over all, those faults (even if true) are not THAT bad. I mean, every phone has some flaws. Being a major texter, I think the dream is great. No complaints from me!

SE has Win Mobile, this OS isn't comfortable to use, especially if You want to turn example- Bluetooth, massacre! And WM isn't finger friendly.

HTC Magic- android is cool, fast, finger friendly and has app market ! If you need QWERTY, choose HTC Dream. My chose for you is HTC Magic.

htc magic hands down! i've had it for only a month and i'm in love. mine is the same color as the one in the video.

it's really amazing cause it has 3 screens, and a track ball like a blackberrry, i love this phone. anddd it's easier to upload stuff to your phone from your computer, you just plug it in, and drag your music or photos into the folder that says music or photos, it's a reallllly good phone. :D

The phone HAS WIFI and is capable of 3G. So if you are next to a wifi network and you can log in, you can use WIFI instead of using your data / data plan.

Hey crippe1000, usually when you buy the data plan Internet use is unlimited (3g), so you're free to go to Google, or Youtube, or anywhere. In the UK the data plan is £25p/m, which is *much* cheaper than a iPhone plan.

Also, if you're concerned about price take in mind that most apps on the Google marketplace are free (in stark contrast to the iPhone app store) because of the nature of the community developing for it.

crippe1000, yes you can access the net-based applications (including the market) via a Wifi connection. When Wifi is on and connected it supersedes the 3G connection.

Why do people keep complaining about no headphone jack?? This is the wireless age, does anyone who has a smartphone really use wired headphones anymore....??? I think it's great that HTC isn't supporting old technology. Bluetooth is the future.

Music capablilities are severely limited when there is no headphone jack. Even if you use bluetooth A2DP to listen, it sucks a hell of a lot of battery from both the headphones and the phone.

Also there is the extra weight, the generally crappy battery life of bluetooth stereo headsets, and the price of them. People cannot be bothered with all this hassle for the sake of a wire which people are used to anyway.
