Throughout my life Ive attended scores of rock shows and I will assert this: KK Downing is hands down the best live guitar player I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing. During Rockin Rio in 1991 he blew away the likes of superstar guitar players like Santana and Slash. Too bad he is retiring for he is a TRUE guitar god.

On their 2009 tour it seemed to me that KK was the only guy in the band that gave a damn about the show. Everyone else seemed to go through the motions. Not KK. He rocked.

It's not like he's trying there, sings in a totally different way. I was really suprised when I heard it, and I liked it. Seen the song live twice and he only sang like that the other time. And on the same gig he did for example the intro scream on Between thr Hammer and the Anvil x2 as good as on the record.

@kronie19 Halford has more of a "mid-range" thing going on with his vocals now.... he's still got the high end that'll blow ya into the trees but his mid-range is absolutely killer.... check out "You Don't Have to Be Old to Be Wise" from the British Steel Anniversary tour and you'll know exactly what I'm saying

@kronie19 i don't think it's so much that he can't as it is that he won't do it all the time. i saw them a week ago and he hit some pretty damn high notes. but, several times he sang an octave or two lower. and it wasn't necessarily based on how high; he hit some really high notes. i mean, you gotta consider, the guy's like 60, when you're doing a live show singing this kind of music for 2 to 3 hours nearly every night...
