  • light?

  • Woo! Woo! Sounds of my childhood! I ran one of these as a pre-teen-ager until we got an automatic in 1949. This was lots more fun! The automatic wouldn't let me see anything, coming to an immediate halt if the lid was lifted more than one inch!

  • Greatr video, I wash in one like that in 1983 or 84.

  • It's great you got it going, and lucky you for finding it, and not sending it to a recycler. I just got a 1940's Maytag J model with the square tub, have used it three times and I love it! I don't mind the so called extra work, and the thing is a whole hell of a lot quieter than my Modern Push- Button Automatic too.

  • Cool, yeah I love washers of all kinds so it wasn't really even a choice whether or not to save it... it doesn't have a wringer though, so it's hard to actually do laundry in it...

  • If you went back to the woods where you got it, and looked around, it might be there..... Just kidding, Seriously, though, maybe you'll get lucky and find one. I wonder why they dumped it. Any idea if this was an old house place?

  • I plan on going back and looking for the wringer when I get a chance (the agitator was about ten meters away)... I found it at a mini appliance dump (couple tv's, stoves, and fridges... I assume someone just threw it out because they bought an automatic.

  • I hope I run as well when I am 71.........

  • fantastic!

  • Thank you
