  • @ultimatev17 So jealous. And thanks!

  • @ultimate17 So jealous. And thanks!

  • Thoughts of Little Dragon come to mind while listening to this demo...I think I want it! :D

  • @musicjunkie295 Little Dragon was so good when I saw them live. It's nice to see that someone has good taste!

  • would this be an ideal synth for my screamo band? im the singer and screamo is always much more sick with a synth. are there any you would recommend?

  • @austinrussell32044 The Alesis micron is definitely not the one to get, if you want a cheap one then just go for a microkorg (Not the XL version), but then again the microkorg has small sized keys, so that can get quite annoying. Korg MS-20, Minimoog Voyager XL, EMS Synthi AKS and Arp Odyssey are ideal if you have at least 2000$+ to spend. I don't really know too much about metal bands since I've turned my interest into electronica music a while back. Okay?

  • @XcesMusic I would buy a microkorg if i had the fingers the size of a toddlers. I would buy a MicroKorg if i wanted a new toy. I bought a Micron because I wanted a real keyboard.

  • Guys the volume knob is really amazing!

  • my dads going to get me on for crismas!!!

  • Why does everyone compare this with a microkorg, every synth is unique (unless its a roland, lol) they are both cool synths and both sound phat but i prefer the sound of the micron and has way better keys, those mini keys on the microkorg suck big time

  • Love my micron, awesome, everything i need in one tiny box

  • A bought an Alesys micron just so i can turn th volume on and off =)

  • When you change the tempo at 4:20 and press the keys and the sounds go faster to match the tempo, can you do that with your own edited programs as well? for example, i "record" a little diddy, to loop as a rhythm, if i change the tempo, will it change the speed of my edit aswell? if so, im sold.

  • Tha is one utterly pointless piece of harware, Why the heck would I want a modeling freaking synth? Just use your computer, WTF?

  • @marviosantos yes but computers suck.

  • @scarfy23 My point exactly sir. This is nothing but an underpowered computer running, most likely the same software you can get on a VST. Again, pointless

  • @marviosantos i think you missed the point i was making. i don't want to use a computer. i want to plug in an instrument to a separate multitrack machine on which i record. the micron is an instrument. it isn't a computer in itself, except in the sense that my washing machine is also a computer. i personally don't like everything being on a computer screen. besides, i like the pretty lights.

  • @marviosantos ps check out my micron in action if you wish - search gnp - rag and bone on you tube.

  • Can you save patches that you make and play them back later?

  • @NuclearSewerRats520 Yeah, just go all the way to the end of the editing parameters when you're done editing and hit save copy.

  • Thumbs up for the GRAMMAR mistake in the title!

  • how much does a piece of shyt like cost?

  • they should make a desktop module.

  • @dansemacabre17 The Micron has the heart and soul of the grooveboxes like the Korg Electribe MX, albeit in the completely wrong form. Alesis should have released this as a knob-laden VA groovebox monster. It would have flown off the shelves.

  • TOTALLY AGREE !!

  • it has an arpeggiator right??

  • can you phrase a pattern?

  • im not very into keyboards but i am into volume knobs. this instrument has, by far, one of the most unique volume knobs i've ever had the joy of getting my hands on. dont know so much about the sounds and playability but the knob is the real seller here. must buy. 5 stars.

  • is this realy analog synth cuz i think they don't make them anymore?

  • can this make a grand piano sound if you want it to?

  • @CanadianDutchman I don't think so. I haven't found anything like that on mine. It is more synthy. Not much organic instrumental sounds.

  • @CanadianDutchman yes you can, start with a triangle (as in triangle waveform) and work your way from there. with enough fiddling and experimentation, one is able to generate a near limitless array of sounds, both exotic and familiar from any virtual analog synth that allows you to modify the parameters of the sounds

  • I hope I don't sound stupid asking this question but if I were to get this keyboard could I also just use it to play simple sounding music that doesn't have all those crazy sound effects? Like for example does it have a "Grand Piano" setting like most keyboards?

  • @staceyricardo92 This is a true synthesizer, which means it makes its own sounds, it does not play back samples of other instruments, butis an instrument on its own. You might be able to create as ound that is somewhat close to a piano, but it will not be a piano in that way, no.

  • @sp4zzer I could create my own sounds with this?! That's amazing! Haha sorry I don't know much about synths, thanks for the info!!!!!

  • how do i turn the protection off ):

  • @deadmau5Jr No problem :)

  • @deadmau5Jr No, just an amp, or headphones, (of course you have to plug it into a wall). You can use a pc to record though, and if you don't have an amp you can play through the pc's speakers, and there's a great free program to access all the parameters quickly and easily.

  • @IAmBound Micron parameeter program? For something non-mac?

  • i played on the microkorg and the xl today, i dont like how small the keys are though, does this also have midget keys?

  • @fukkenninjas nahh these keys are almost normal(x

  • @fukkenninjas you have eyes dont you?

  • how do you split the sounds you want?

  • Looks great! Is it just me or does it seem like I'd get way more out for a microkorg for an extra 200?

  • @giveitupforcheerios The microkorg is a much better synth the this 1. I have the microkorg xl and when you learn how to use it you can really creat whatever sound you want. It is awesome! :D

  • hmmmmm, Alesis Micron or Microkorg XL?

  • @SBUkjconnolly I have a Microkorg XL and a just want to let you know that it is AWESOME! When you learn how all the functions work you can really creat every sound you want :) Highly recommended!

  • gearwire, how did u make dat sound in da alesis micron in da beginning of ur video before u talked??

  • Would this Synth be good for playing Enter Shikari?

  • @AGhettoLion get a computer. cubase or logic. some good VSTs. a midi keyboard. and make your own shikari sounds =]

  • @mysticalkid Ohh right, when I get the money I might do that :D, What is a VST?

  • @AGhettoLion give it a search on youtube. they are like synth programs =]

  • @AGhettoLion definitely. i play a lot of Enter Shikari on mine.

  • What do I need to connect this to a Pc laptop?

  • Does anyone know if the Micron has a voltage conditioner built in? I lost my wall wart, and the only one i can find is 9.5v 1.5a, as opposed to the 9v 1.5a that comes with the Micron. I'd like to try and avoid frying my board if possible

  • @xmyonlyfearx Square wave FM synth, and a very very little bit of a chorus effect

  • @ofuckitstravis ...which you can definitely do on a micron

  • would this be good for use in a live band?

  • @MrJennion definitely it was designed with live use in mind.

  • can it do glitchy moog type stuff?

  • @joed424 you betcha, you can have as much analogue drift as you want, its freely assignable

  • Ehhh. Microkorg > Alesis for people who are on edge for both synths. I just upgraded to a Roland Gaia and I don't regret it a bit. Such a step up form a microkorgXL.

  • @tmstttt The Gaia isn't bad but I like its precursor a little bit better. the Sh201 is an awesome synth with great pad sounds. I use the Sh201 for pads, organ sounds etc.. and the micron for leads, its an awesome combination.

  • can any owners tell me how the micron compares to the microkorg?

im trying to decide which one to buy

  • @sxedevdev the micron takes some getting used to, since you have to learn how to program it, but it is more flexible than the microkorg and it can produce pad sounds due to its eight voice polyphony, which the mk can't. And full size keys are definitely an advantage. I'm not saying that Korg synths are bad, but If I were to buy a Korg keyboard synth, I'd add 130 bucks to the price of a microkorg xl and go directly for the R3 which has the accessibility of an mk with a much better synth engine.

  • @Psychotronic100 o rly? cos i like the micron better than the others

  • @Psychotronic100 i'd get the miniak- it has a vocoder! :D

  • microkorg all the way baby^.^

  • Recently purchased one from a friend, however not sure how to connect the thing up. Don't possess an amp so would need to connect it to PC, what cabling would I need for this?

  • @velocifero86 if you haven't figured it out by now you can connect directly to a computer via the mic/line in. You will need a 1/4" male stereo phono to a 1/8" male phono cable. Or get a midi capable sound card is the best way to go.

  • its pretty sweet looking but id go with the xio by novation.

  • What would be a better choice, the R3, or the Micron? Someone please reply

  • @The7thINFANTRY i recently just sold my R3 for a micron, I used a micron before and i find the sound quality better

  • reminds me of R2D2. I want one. haha

  • can you hook this up to a keyboard or electric piano for full use of the synth on 88 keys?

  • @SeniorSmurf1 yes, you just use MIDI ;)

  • Does this have an onboard speaker?

  • @235T1NGR4Y23

    Nope.

  • @235T1NGR4Y23 I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

  • The Micron is indeed a far more capable synth; you can write an entire album with it when you finally learn to use the sequencer in perfect harmony with the mod matrix; the vocoder on the Micron is poor but I got an Electro Harmonix V256 vocoder for free so I'll never need another vocoder for the rest of my life.

The Micron is the best budget synth ever designed.

  • @SixOneCynic Just to add 'budget' is a word associated with the Micron, but this by no means should convey that it isn't anything more than an gorgeous and very capable instrument (which I am sure you are aware of).

  • Amazing.

  • microkorg or micron?

  • @bintangbandicoot been thinking the same thing. Read reviews that micron is better synth, but microkorg's vocoder is amazing while micron's is barely usable.

  • are the keys weighted?

  • @imakecrappyvids Yes they are.

  • yeah i know i ordered on from the internet. now im just having trouble connecting the micron with fl studios 9

  • wats this connexted to? an amp? TY!

  • So does it have a vocoder or at least a plug for one?

  • can i connect my alesis micron to a midi cable to a computer using a usb cable???

  • @crazysteven3

Not directly, but there are USB/MIDI converters available which have two MIDI jacks and one USB jack. They are around 10-15 bucks, so it's not that big an investment.

  • Very nice board for my production arsenal.

  • how do i instal the alesis presets v1.02 to my keyboard?

  • as far as my knowledge goes you have to get a midi to usb cable then perform midi sysex dump or recieve something like that. ive never tried it with mine so im not totally sure. ;)

  • @kingofkeyboards Here is my cure for that little headache. My Micron is sill under warrantee and it has developed a scratchy volume knob so when I ship it off for repair I'm just going to have them upgrade it to v1.02 while it's in the shop : P

  • very good!!!

  • thanks for the vid, quite informative
