The writing, direction, editing and soundtrack of QAF are so much a part of what made B&J a phenomenon, please give kudos to the whole team that created this universe. QAF was and is in a class by itself and the folks that created it are due our undying appreciation.
He seems to be BRILLIANT in his role as Brian Kinney but he's extremely awkward in other roles. I saw in New York in the play 'Suddenly Last Summer' a little over two years ago and I hate, hate hate hate to say this but he was AWFUL. Also, he was bad in his role in 'Vanish', 'Desp. Wives'. He was great in 'The Unseen' though and 'Rhinoceros Eyes' but he was terribly awkward in 'Wake' and the 'Particles of the Truth'. I know he can act but lately something's wrong.
Perhaps his personal life was unpleasant at the time he played on stage. Perhaps he tried some other parts to experience new vibrations. The thing is it will be very difficult for him to have a chemistry again such as the one he had with Randy. This has to be said and well that's the truth. Randy had the power to make him improve and surpass his skills. Maybe he tried to "erase" Brian too fast and too soon by accepting roles he couldn't handle as perfectly as Brian's.
@StolenRain I don't think that is his fault as an actor that some roles like you mentioned in certain shows just don't come across well sometimes it is bad or heesy wriing and he just trys to make the best of it. I haven't seen wake yet want to maybe the character in that is supposed to be awkward and I am just guessing but if that is the case then he would be playing it right. please don't give up on him. :) by the way is wake on youtube? Gale is an amazing actor. He started later than Keanu, Brad, Leo or even Will Smith. I would like to see him in mainstream movies that challenge his talent, given him complex roles. Not necessarily blockbuster but quality movies that have Oscar potential. For example, he would have been great playing the Patrick Wilson role in Little Children opposite Kate Winslet last year. That character was a jock and very sensual.

QAF was and is in a class by itself and the folks that created it are due our undying appreciation.

He seems to be BRILLIANT in his role as Brian Kinney but he's extremely awkward in other roles. I saw in New York in the play 'Suddenly Last Summer' a little over two years ago and I hate, hate hate hate to say this but he was AWFUL. Also, he was bad in his role in 'Vanish', 'Desp. Wives'. He was great in 'The Unseen' though and 'Rhinoceros Eyes' but he was terribly awkward in 'Wake' and the 'Particles of the Truth'. I know he can act but lately something's wrong.

Perhaps his personal life was unpleasant at the time he played on stage. Perhaps he tried some other parts to experience new vibrations. The thing is it will be very difficult for him to have a chemistry again such as the one he had with Randy. This has to be said and well that's the truth. Randy had the power to make him improve and surpass his skills. Maybe he tried to "erase" Brian too fast and too soon by accepting roles he couldn't handle as perfectly as Brian's.

@StolenRain I don't think that is his fault as an actor that some roles like you mentioned in certain shows just don't come across well sometimes it is bad or heesy wriing and he just trys to make the best of it. I haven't seen wake yet want to maybe the character in that is supposed to be awkward and I am just guessing but if that is the case then he would be playing it right. please don't give up on him. :) by the way is wake on youtube? I mean the complete movie.

@grenzenlosefreiheit I think he seems distracted because he seems like such a professional that he was probably thinking at the time that he has to say the same things over and over and aso has future scenes in his mind. I am sure working on a series had to be tough work day in and day out year after year to keep up the intensity when that is not his typical personality. very draining I am sure.

Gale is an amazing actor. He started later than Keanu, Brad, Leo or even Will Smith. I would like to see him in mainstream movies that challenge his talent, given him complex roles. Not necessarily blockbuster but quality movies that have Oscar potential. For example, he would have been great playing the Patrick Wilson role in Little Children opposite Kate Winslet last year. That character was a jock and very sensual.

@im18woohooyippee I disagree I don't think blockbuster movies would be a waste of his talent. for example look at adrien brody or ryan gosling-yes they have been in smaller indie movies but also bigger films and they still keep their integrity and far from being sell outs. they are still very true to themseves and make it work.

Actually I thought what he said was really insightful about Brian. It just takes him a while to say things because he's very camera shy. But I didn't think he sounded like he didn't know what he was talking about. He just seemed hesitant to talk.

I dont know if its just me but his voice sounds different. Not as far as his shyness goes but the actual sound of his voice. As far as DH goes he is going to be in the first 3 episodes to my knowledge. Season 5 of DH starts Sunday Sep 28 @ 9:00pm. I CANT WAIT! I personally was never a fan of DH but i will watch anything with Gale Harold! Like most people I discovered him on Queer as Folk! ;P
