@skillering, if it says the internal battery has died, i have one too. That just means the watch battery in the game has died. You can replace it but i dont want to muff up my game.

Gyus, hate to break it to you, but I just received one of these fakes through Ebay (unknowingly) and it DOES play fine on my brand new DSi -- with firmware updated. I got Yoshi's Island DS and it plays perfect. The DSi recognized the cartidge the moment I put it in and it even saved all my games perfect. The Chinese keep coming up with something to counter all the updates. I hear there are some catridges that flash the updates, allowing the fakes to work on the DSi.

In the GBA was easier to spot if your cartdrige was white grey or grey it was fake and if it was black grey or black it was original this take about 10 minutes to know(also if you putted it into a DS(FAT ONE) the save game was erased :( my pokemon ruby was fake i was about to end it when i played it on the ds of my friend and it erased D: )

@volcomskater264 Fakes can damage your DS Slot pin connector. Other than that the game itself cannot be played on a DSi. Basically these are flashed ROMS on a cheap chip. The thickness of the PCB can be more than a REAL DS game, and can bend the pins.

@Edgewalker001 My card actually have the exact same serial number on it, which means I know where both of our fake games are from, it's a small workshop in Kowloon sandwiched in between a plastics factory and an electronics firm, I guess they do all their work in one place. Couldn't get more info without paying to access their registry file, but still XD

@DefconComputers I bought a ds game from ebay that was suppose to be "BRAND NEW SEALED" when it came the mario kart case was in plastic but the case was clear (I had no idea that people made fake ds games) anyway i opened it and put it in and tried to play and it said "the saved file is corrupt do you want to erase?" im thinking how could there be a save file if the game is brand new and sealed? now when i put it in the ds it shows "Danny Phantom" logo but when i click on it its mario kart.....

Thank you so much for helping me confirm my copy of Mario & Luigi Partners in Time is counterfeit. I found another error which is that the Nintendo seal on the cartridge says "seal of quality" instead of just "seal" While I was looking up a picture of an authentic cartridge to compare I discovered that the cartridge has the entire picture incorrect. It has the same picture as the cover but is supposed to have a red and yellow swirl.

hey on the back of your ds game card the small white letters on the green thing does all the game start with an upside down triangle and the letter "D" because i have 2 ds game i brought from ebay and both of them have it and it seems real

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I just got a game and the quality of the printing on the box and manual is far lower than anything I have seen on a legit game. The box itself is clear instead of black, this would have tipped me off right away however the picture was such that I could not tell. I am mad but also disappointed in myself, I am usually more cautious when buying online.

Nowadays I would'nt buy a used game online unless it was direct with a major retailer. Too easy for anyone to just start up a "business" or online shop and sell fakes, then close it down and open a new one when the heat gets turned up. It's a shame really.

Actually the DSi did something good here. It let me know the game I had was bogus, and to demand my money back. Later I found out that copy of the game would randomly crash and not save scores.

I think one of the most reliable ways to tell is by looking at the colour of the golden "Nintendo seal of quality". The logo on a real cart is GOLD and is very shiny while the fake ones are either reddish-brown or yellow in colour.

I compared my original DS cart with one of my fake GBA games, the logo on the fake is reddish-brown in colour.

I contacted him, and he responded almost within a couple minutes when I found that it did'nt work on the DSi. He offered to refund the full price, plus my shipping back to him. I think the seller just got duped into buying a fake game. It does have a few scratches on the back, so someone had played it a bit before they got it.
