I love how this song talks about people walking (pacing) from house to house, pestering the residents until they feed the singers to make them go away. Very like Hallowe'en begging! :-) Also, the same psychology/sentiment shows up in "A-Soulin'" (the soul cake song)--"Give us something good & we'll go away!"
