I just tried to provide you with one of the possible ways to think, so it will be more understandable.
There are Therians that see their "Human side" and "Animal side" as very different aspects of themselves.
Those often apply their "human side", but instead experiences occasional awkward "mental shifts". Those are essentially like normal reactions, but somehow "animalized".

What i have experienced of Therian's views on things, is that a lot, or even all(?)see it as if they haven't choosen to be therians, nor have they really coosen their animal.
There are several theories concerning that, including reincarnation, mental issues, and unconcious response against what humans have done to nature.

Ok I consider myself to be a part of the furry fandom but I don't think i'm in the wrong body, I know i'm human. It is just a hobby. The stuff they are talking about on here is otherkin,which a different can of worms.
I love how "documentaries" skew interviews to the point of creating the opposite effect they were meant to have. First off, in the therian community, the term "were" is generally frowned upon due to the negative stigma it creates. A therian is one who identifies as an animal (sometimes more than one) on an integral level. Therians know that they are human by all physical means, but perhaps psychologically or spiritually (depending on the individual) they are a non-human animal.

This "documentary" is actually made up of stolen and edited footage from a much more accurate documentary that shows furries and Therians in a positive light instead of as freaks. The original is called Animal Imitators and I highly recommend that people watch that, rather than this pack of lies.
Um as said somewhere around 7:20 "no press or non-furries allowed" ... Non-Furries are allowed at conventions everywhere, handlers are usually not furries, along with usually half of the population from each convention. I'm not a furry and I know that... Animal Planet needs to get their research right.

When I was studying clinical psychology as my major at university they defined abnormal psychology as thus: anything outside normal societal norms. That in itself makes me have a great dislike for these "professionals" that seek to diagnose everyone different as being a head case. How many have diagnosed gay people as "abnormal" for example. These people (furries perhaps aside) may take this a bit too far, but it's not that unreasonable to believe a person could be reincarnated from an animal.

I'm sorry i have no real issue with these people dressing up in costums and whatever but to claim they feel like that animal when they are walking around like a human. using there hands like a human and doing general human things even in costume,and chosing to be human at times. i just think its abit odd and stupid. like at least with the dog guy. he acted like a dog, didnt wear cloths like a dog. i mean he was essentially as close as a dog he could get. but if they like it then whatever you kno

Consider this:
I might consider myself a cat born as a human. But i still has a human mind, and human-style body. Therefore, why not put these abilities to good use?
The "Dog guy" is pretty much guessing what goes on in a dog's head, and act thereafter.
Therians have no reason to guess, we just act after what we feel and think to be right for us, and that includes taking human society into account.
Furries seem to do things because they are fun.
I am both a Furry and a Therian.

That's ok, it seemed like you perhaps wanted to understand, but had some problem doing so.
I just tried to provide you with one of the possible ways to think, so it will be more understandable.
There are Therians that see their "Human side" and "Animal side" as very different aspects of themselves.
Those often apply their "human side", but instead experiences occasional awkward "mental shifts". Those are essentially like normal reactions, but somehow "animalized".

I must point out one thing, though:
What i have experienced of Therian's views on things, is that a lot, or even all(?)see it as if they haven't choosen to be therians, nor have they really coosen their animal.
There are several theories concerning that, including reincarnation, mental issues, and unconcious response against what humans have done to nature.
Oh, and remember, most Therians isn't Furries, and vice versa.

I love how "documentaries" skew interviews to the point of creating the opposite effect they were meant to have. First off, in the therian community, the term "were" is generally frowned upon due to the negative stigma it creates. A therian is one who identifies as an animal (sometimes more than one) on an integral level. Therians know that they are human by all physical means, but perhaps psychologically or spiritually (depending on the individual) they are a non-human animal.

This "documentary" is actually made up of stolen and edited footage from a much more accurate documentary that shows furries and Therians in a positive light instead of as freaks. The original is called Animal Imitators and I highly recommend that people watch that, rather than this pack of lies.

Um as said somewhere around 7:20 "no press or non-furries allowed" ... Non-Furries are allowed at conventions everywhere, handlers are usually not furries, along with usually half of the population from each convention. I'm not a furry and I know that... Animal Planet needs to get their research right.

Thisll probably be ignored (as are most "im a fur" comments, sadly) But im a fur. I just like cartoon animals. I make costume pieces because theyre fun to me, Not sexual. Thad'd be itchy. I don't, Nor do i know any fur who actually believes themself to be an animal, but i have met NON furs online who seem to believe that they are. Nothing against them, though, Thats their thing. But furries are held to only ONE common fact: theyre fans of anthro animals, from bugs bunny to kung fu panda.

I understand that this is alittle odd and weird, but please, lets not make fun of these people, they DO NOT dezerve it, in fact, no one do's, lets just accept them for who they are or want to be, and yes, I am a furrie, and i'm very happy as one, its a great way to express yourself and there is great people to meet in the fandom, and I love it greatly :D

I think they putting two different kind off people together in one big group here. I mean when you have an furrsuit (or a cats costume or whatever) on youre basicly an actor acting, just like the actors in Cats acts. But when you modify youre body to become an animal youre taking that part a step longer.
As for me I dont really se why it should be a concern to take on a costume and pretend to be an animal. Johan.

I don't care how you think I see it, I completely get what you mean but I'll still never respect a furry no matter how tame they can be (try to be).

When I was studying clinical psychology as my major at university they defined abnormal psychology as thus: anything outside normal societal norms. That in itself makes me have a great dislike for these "professionals" that seek to diagnose everyone different as being a head case. How many have diagnosed gay people as "abnormal" for example. These people (furries perhaps aside) may take this a bit too far, but it's not that unreasonable to believe a person could be reincarnated from an animal.

Homosexuals fall in love and have sexual feelings/intercourse with people of the same gender. Furries believe that they are animals and have sexual feelings about animals.
