Gilbert does have feeling. Malmsteen just doesn't have that kinda feeling in his playing. He's a shredder. The only thing that make me not like him as much as Vai, Becker, SRV, etc., is that the feeling's missing. Gilbert does have feeling. Indeed. :)
The only problem with Yngwie, is, that he doesn't have that feeling like Vai and SRV has got, for instance. You definitely see that in the cover Vai, Satriani and Yngwie does on one of the G3-DVD's. The other two have got feeling in their solos, and Yngwie just shreds and sweeps like his ass was on fire. That's the only thing this guy is missing in his playing. Apart from that, he's one amazing shredder, and he knows the guitar so well that he doesn't even have to look at it while playing :)
i agree that many people may find other guitarists music more emotive but malmsteen is extremely classically influenced and if you listen to classical music you will understand how much feeling malmsteen's have.
i think many people get used to guitar sounding like a guitar and think that is emotive but when you make it sound like, piano, violin you tap into another area, that is why gilbert and malmsteen are so amazing because they play phrases ment to be played on other instruments.

Ywngwie plays the guitar like a classical violinist, the first and the best ever to do so. Other guitarists who do follow in his footsteps fail to play with the same energy or raw passion. Ywingwie far exceeds anyone with his signature vibrato and string bends from elsewhere. Some guitarists may be faster, others may be more accurate, but none possess the same conviction or ferocity as the grand master himself.
By the way, have you ever heard him play a blues riff? Even better stuff...

I can't belieave in what I read. Yngwie skills completly stink compared to buckethead. About feeling what the hell man, Yngwie has the best feeling ever, who the hell has a better vibrato than malmsteen? slides, bendings, pick strokes sensitivy, Yngwie has 200x more feeling, he's just limited in knoledge, therefore his technique is also limited and the skills are lower.you can't even compare, you are completly saying the oposite, and if you want perfectness playing, watch michael romeo instead.
Anybody else ever notice this is the one song he always gits the most into. I mean every time he plays it live he goes completely f***in crazy and i mean he is just so energized by it. Its like a powerhouse everytime he plays it and its always extremely wild and crazy. Anybody else notice that? None of his other songs have as much energy radiated from it then this one.
Yeah I agree, so far this is his most energized performance. I don't know how the hell he can remember so many god damn sweeps, combinations and notes. His songs are like limitless. He really seems to hear a piece of music for every second of a song.
Yngwie is an amazing player. What a lot of people overlook is that he has perfect intonation. His vibrato is flawless. He also has a very natural sense of time. Guys like MAB are very good pickers, but they do not have the touch of Yngwie. They can't come close to Yngwie's control of bending and intonation. When they stop on a bent note it is obvious. Guys like Yngwie, Shawn Lane, Scott Henderson, Eric Johnson, Lynch and Eddie Van Halen are in a different league.
I agree that he is an immensely skilled guitarist, but his work just lacks... heart. It completely fails to evoke any emotion in me whatsoever. Just my opinion though.
And for the other ones whos say he doesn't show emotion... Just look at his face during the video! If this isn't emotion... And even if sometimes he doesn't explodes of emotions, if you know how to appreciate talent, you easily feel the emotion through his music.
And the other ones saying that he's too show off... If he wasn't good at guitar and acting like he was one of the best, he'd be a piece of crap. But since Yngwie rocks, who cares if he knows and shows it?

I can't belieave in what I read. Yngwie skills completly stink compared to buckethead. About feeling what the hell man, Yngwie has the best feeling ever, who the hell has a better vibrato than malmsteen? slides, bendings, pick strokes sensitivy, Yngwie has 200x more feeling, he's just limited in knoledge, therefore his technique is also limited and the skills are lower.you can't even compare, you are completly saying the oposite, and if you want perfectness playing, watch michael romeo instead.

Anybody else ever notice this is the one song he always gits the most into. I mean every time he plays it live he goes completely f***in crazy and i mean he is just so energized by it. Its like a powerhouse everytime he plays it and its always extremely wild and crazy. Anybody else notice that? None of his other songs have as much energy radiated from it then this one.

Yeah I agree, so far this is his most energized performance. I don't know how the hell he can remember so many god damn sweeps, combinations and notes. His songs are like limitless. He really seems to hear a piece of music for every second of a song.

Yngwie is an amazing player. What a lot of people overlook is that he has perfect intonation. His vibrato is flawless. He also has a very natural sense of time. Guys like MAB are very good pickers, but they do not have the touch of Yngwie. They can't come close to Yngwie's control of bending and intonation. When they stop on a bent note it is obvious. Guys like Yngwie, Shawn Lane, Scott Henderson, Eric Johnson, Lynch and Eddie Van Halen are in a different league.
