  • It is two tunes

Rathlin island is one of them

  • what's this song's name?

  • I wonder how much he practiced when he was first learning, and how long it took him to get this good.

  • 2 people are definantly high

  • Absolutly amazin :D

  • 0:55 is sex

  • We have seen them live.... absolutely stunning. Each and every one of them plays tin whistle, but Kevin is a sensation!

Also check out the brillian Joannie Madden (formerly all-Ireland national champion) on the whistle. Pure genius!

  • I love his playing, but I definitely don't like susato whistles' sound.... they just have a session volume, but not a good tone

  • Fair play to you Kevin - Absolutely amazing stuff - Must be the Brummie in you coming out there ! Orlroight !!

  • sorry, I meant "in our blood"

  • How dare people say that Europeans have no rhythm "in the blood"?

I guess their ears are just too slow to get this rhythm. He can play faster than some people can listen...

5670000 stars for the musician! And thanks for sharing!

  • Absolutely fkn brilliant

  • He came to my school to talk to my world music class he is insane at the penny whistle I love how he really gets into the music

  • Oh my God, the sound of that instrument has always captivate me and your playing is beyond amazing!

5 stars all the way. *****

  • whaaaaat amazing

  • Just got a Low D Susato myself and am blown away. I used to think - like kerrywhistles joke - that they were a bit naff.

    Was I ever wrong!

Bets low whistle I've ever owned (and I have tried many and owned 3 or 4)

Then again, Kevin could play a drainpipe and it would sound good.

  • I consider myself to be a decent whistle player but this guy is sick. I simply don't understand what he is doing to make it sound so fluent, right and complex. Just fantastic, period!

  • the susato whistle seems to be in C... amazing playing!

  • This ....is the fucking Jimmy Hendrix of the Low flute.... Tioch Faidh ar Lar

  • name of that song?!?!?!?!

  • I know this tune as "rathlin Island"

  • OMG that's crazy good!

  • That was incredible.

    Inspiring & yet devastating !

...... as he sheepishly glances at his tin whistle beside the keyboard .

  • Rathlin Islands! feckin brilliant yer like a magician on the whistle

  • HOLY SHIT!!!

  • yea which song is this:)

  • which one is it ?

  • love it loosely

  • wow!!!!!!!!

  • zomgz O.O....sugoi O.O..!!!!!!

  • does anyone know which susato whistle that is? A kildare or a dublin? medium, small or very small bore?

  • This is a brown Kildare, probably medium bore, like the one I play, is my guess, though I could be wrong.

  • Someone in the comments said he was playing in F nat, I haven't confirmed this but the F and G only come in very small bore. The D comes in very small bore and small bore. The highest key in a medium bore is the A so it's definitely not a medium bore. Just from looking, I would have guessed it was a very small bore D, which is not as loud as a small bore D but he's using a mic, the very small bore is a more nimble whistle and a joy to play. I have both and hardly ever play the small bore.

  • Well, I'm not sure about the bored, but I know it's definitely a C whistle, and he's playing in G dorian, because I've played along with the track playing in G minor. So it's A dorian on a C whistle.

  • That would make it a small bore, it's really hard to tell by just looking, kind of depends how big his hands are. I bought the C and D together with one fipple. I like playing the C better than the D in the small bore. My nephew has a C accordion and the small bore C holds it's own without being overpowered. I really like the Susato whistles, they have a decent sound and they're not very expensive.

  • fuckin amazing

  • quel souffle!!!!!!!!

  • great performance...wish i could play like Crawford :S

  • the man is a machine

  • does anybody know which tunes he is playing???

i'd like to get to know them

    they are just awesome!!!!

  • This song is called Island Paddy

  • He plays two songs. The first is Rathlin Island and the second is Sporting Paddy.

  • gosh, I wish I could play like him :)

  • Amazing what one can do with a cheap arse Susato whistle!

  • susatos aren't the cheap ones. They are a mid range as far as prices go.

  • lol yeah but the price doesn't change the fingering, so is it that amazing?

  • love these wer csan i hear more of there stuff

  • only just heard fo these guys n i love there music where can i hear more of there stuff

  • fucking genius!!

  • he has a looooooooooooooong breathe :P perfectoo!! ^^

  • This is perfect.

  • is there any way i can get this song?

  • me gusta mucho ojala vinieran a sevilla y tocaran con rare folk seria un cartelazo...alguien sabe el contacto de ellos???????por fa mandar info

  • incredible......

  • gr8 flute player. Gives Matt a run for his money!!

  • that's no flute it's a whistle

  • eh yes...but I was saying he is a fantastic flute player.

  • But in the context of this clip that kinda sounds weird doesn't it.

It's like saying that John Travolta is a great pilot when you're watching pulp fiction. It's true but the context makes it a bit odd

  • thats great work my dad played in long acre with kevin hes the greatest!!!

    ivan miletitch is my dad

  • GREAT!! Thanks for posting :)

  • I love watching Lunasa play live. They have an incredible energy and Kevin and Sean's stories are priceless. This is a very nice performance of one my favorite songs on the album. I must say though, I'm kinda disappointed that there are no Bulgarian Rock clips on youtube.

  • What key is this in? I can't quite figure it out....either way, Crawford is unbelievably talented, just plain amazing.

  • F nat.

  • Are you sure that is a susato? seems more like a sweetheart to me.

  • it's definitely a susato...i've sat 3 feet from the stage as he played, and he sets the whistles down during intermissions...both he and sean smyth play susatos unless you get into the lower keys

  • The first tune is "Rathlin Island", the second one is "Sporting Paddy"

  • what is the name of this song!?

  • the name is "Island Paddy"....=D

  • Good work - You zoomed right in on that guy's amazing fingers and the sound is quite good, too. Nice job! Thanks
