  • Hey man I've been watching your videos for quite some time and I have to be honest you make the Squire basses with all of the modifications that you do to them sound great. I kind of feel like a fool paying for a Fender MIM Jazz Bass of P-Bass and after modifying them they sound just as good a the Squires that you modify. With this being said I think that I will get a new 5 string Squire Affinity and Modify it out. Any recommendations on modding out one of these basses?

  • @MrQuikfuze5 Thanks, you made me watch this again & it DOES sound good!. hahaa. I sold this bass & now I'm looking for another one.. I'd say try a few of them to be sure you get one that already feels & sounds good. Some are cheese. Main mods = better PUs Seymores, betr Fender, SCNiii's, Fralin, maybe DiMarzio stackd (haven't tried yet) & better bridge, that was my next mod. I like the KSM Foundation, strings sing & bottom end gets CLEAR & defined - as if you EQ'd highs in just the low B & E.

  • you my friend, are the coolest guy i have ever seen!

  • @paapakobe where did you buy the noiseless pick-ups?

  • man just get yourself a fender...

  • whats illegal thumbing lol?

  • hey,nice modifications! :)

is a 5 string much less playable than the 4 string?

  • i get better sound of my 150$ ibanez gio that came in a jumpstart set

  • You're funny and you play some really nice groovy style man. I'm buying an Affinity and i'm really liking the sound of it. One Question : this bass doesn't have active electronics right? Cuz if it does I won't buy it, I like deep passive sound on my bass eheh . Peace Dude.

  • Do these things have good action for a 5 string? I've played 5 strings that had less than satisfactory action. I currently have a 4 string j-bass and I love it. I just need a 5 string and im wondering if this would be a nice transition.

  • you got some great talent there!

    thanks for your vid :)

  • sounds tight man

  • funny guy

  • you need to turn up the bass some more.

but tnx for uploading, i want to put these pickups in a squier classic vibe jazz.

    peace

  • im wondering if this bass would be perfect for me, on this moment im playing on a Warwick, but in my oppinion this sounds better, looks better, but do they play better....

  • @MaggiesBookshop I can't imagine this sounding better than a real made in Germany Warwick! it must just be me hahaha UNLESS, you have one made anywhere but Germany (i.e. Asia) then, the pickups & possibly fingerboard would be the difference, the body size diff too.

  • @MaggiesBookshop heyyy, michel :P kom ik jou zomaar hier tegen:P

  • Ending was quite funny. Those pickups sound really nice (as does your playing), would you think they'd do well on a Squire VM Jazz? I'm looking for a lot of mid-range + clear treble and bass.

  • @sc45470 check polskiboy92 thanks. That VM is a great bass. I've compared them to many others in the price range, a few times, & they always sound more meaty.

  • this black boy is grooving!

  • I own the same bass. I actually sanded off all the paint and lacquer and gave it a stained wood finish. I'm doing the same thing to my squire affinity tele. I wanna swap the pickups out of both. Noiseless the way to go or basslines?

  • @polskiboy92 The Noiseless were almost transparent - I like to hear more character in the PUs sometimes. The only Basslines i have are active - but I generally like Seymore's. Noiseless SCN i like! They have uumph! Definitely upgrade the bridge, not just a new one that claims "upgrade". I'm trying a new one on the market on 2 basses. Subscribe & you'll see them when the videos are up.

  • it sounds better after you changed the pick-ups, but adjust your strings so they have less fret buzz, at least thats the way I play my basses great video post peace! lol on the phone it happen to me to.

  • Where and how can I get a Badass V and Badass II bridge

  • @Dthorn912 I have a new fave bridge & it comes in a 5-string. See my vid "KSM Foundation Bass Bridge vs stock "

  • Really in the long run you are saving money bt buying the squire Jazz V and moding it than going out and spending over 1000 U.S. Dollars to get a Fender Jazz V with the works

  • @Dthorn912 It depends on how much you want to spend. I am buying this exact bass today because I am on the market for a 5er and am thinking about the Fender Jazz Active V but I want to first be sure I like a Jazz 5. Other 5ers are attractive, like the Peavey Cirrus 5 or even the TL-5. I am a Fender/Peavey guy, by the way.

  • @Dthorn912 Not so sure. Upgrading the bridge would be $100 to $200. Good pickups: $150 for the Fender noiseless. Decent bridge: $75 if you could the time spent by the luthier. I would also upgrade themachine heads, that's another $200 for a set of 5 from Stewmac. Eventually you end up over spending for what is in the end still a Squier. One thing is for sure is I may very well get a neck from USAGC or Warmoth, if they make 1/4 sawn 5er necks that fit.

  • ho man you are super cool

  • it's made in indonesia?

  • @dinzbassman Some in China. As usual, Chinese made instruments are not super duper, but very very inexpensive (and of course each time a guy is hired in China, a guy gets fired somewhere else).

  • I love the Machineheads of the Jazz Deluxe 5... I wanted to buy them, but I didn't find it. If someone knows any place online that sells those machine heads, please reply.

    Thanks.

  • Wilkinson makes 'upgrade' keys - then again, upgrade from what? But they're good - try Guitarfetish on ebay & put together the config u need. There's also Schaller & Gotoh

  • I have 2 Jazz basses with the Wilkinson jazz bass single coils and I must say that I'm am suprised by the above average quality of the pickups. You might want to try getting an Audere Jazz bass on-board preamp. Everything is all in one assembly. It makes swapping out pickups a snap because the have screw lug connectors. Just strip the wires, insert in the slots and tighten the screws down. That's it.

  • a sound a little bit difference after u replaced athe pick ups?

  • alo brot..it is easy to change a badass bass bridge?

  • I just did it on my fretless jazz 4-string & it was easy. On a 5-string it's a little different. Subscribe & you'll get a message when i post both vids soon.

  • Just to let you know, before i replaced the bridge, i sold the bass to my friend so i could buy the Active V version. MISTAKE! The rosewood fingerboard is warmer sound. To mount a 5-string Badass bridge, holes have to be drilled in the body. The LeoQuan bridge holes are in-between the standard spacing

  • Nice playing man and nice bass. I play the Squier Vintage modified precision bass wich is veri nice hehe. But I want a Jazz very seriously!!! haha

  • Thanks. The Vintage Modified & Vibe series are great. Why not [professionally] add a jazz PU to your P-bass? It wouldn't exactly be 'stock vintage' but it isn't one anyway... it's a vintage modified!

The biggest diff would be the feel of the neck

  • bass sounded much better with noiseless pickups congratulations for the bass mod...

  • thanks. wasn't sure it was audible on here. The noisless' take the lid off the sound but they're not beefy. I'd like to get some SCN's and I may try some Duncan Actives in there next + Badass bridge, active EQ & new strings. Trying to enhance the essence of what's there rather than fake it with electronics
