@JUSTDANCE379: I make it for my lunch or supper about 2-3 times a week. So easy to cook, delicious, and healthy--I can actually feel stress dwindling away each time I eat it :-) Never thought I'd love raw chopped cabbages this way, but now I do.
I love how for most people I know (Americans and Europeans), food is good based on preparation, ingredients, and so on... but for Japanese people, a reason behind eating that particular food seems to some times be necessary. Is it out of guilt for eating such yummy things all the time? Probably not, but a jealous part of me hopes so.But.... they probably just care about their health...
@uruhasthighs :P and I shall lol - I'm just a poor university student, so I have to make do with what I can - besides, I don't know a butchers around here where I could get pork loin sliced that thinly, the closest I can get is a pork chop - which is overly thick for this recipe, I was thinking that unsmoked back bacon would make a good substitute - or at least an acceptable one.
(sorry about the american thing, it just seems like american's are 75% of online traffic I encounter lol)
@bazzatron666 Pork belly. Buy a pork belly and cut it really thin. That's a very fatty cut of meat (and generally cheaper for that, for some reason... I love meat fat, though I don't eat it often). So you'll have kind of blubbery pork, but you can trim it and some of it will melt of while cooking. Just an idea.
@gurnumbly that's not a bad idea - however, I found that my local uni shop sells loin (but not the supermarket O_o) - so this is probably happening tonight XD

what kind of vegetable is the okras? how does it taste? spicy? or is it like paprika?
