  • The end it's so perfectly well-made !! ... The music fits perfect with the moment, like trying to deter the awkward moment held by the dance, and the judging stares by the people surrounding.... and they just don't care about anything, just enjoying the moment. PERFECT !

  • whenever i hear this song, i think of this scene

  • @chino33391 it is imho, THE BEST GAY MOVIE EVER, BAR NONE, scuse the capitals again, but this movie must have helped tens of thousands of confused scared angry regretful young homos ( i am gay, so i am not a hater) to realise that not all of the world is against them. i watch it about 4 times a year, and have done since it came out - pure cinematic genius

This is absolutely beautiful. I have always loved Mama Cass and felt really said when I heard the news of her death. She was voted as the best singer for "Dream a little Dream of me." I hope her music lives on forever........Richard.. Bradenton, Florida

  • From another Beautiful Thing blog it was mentioned that the flats at Tavey Bridge in Thamesmeade, where this scene and the film were filmed, are to be demolished in June of 2011.

  • @Randy201851 thats depressing

  • Happened upon this through my love of the song. Seriously moved me to tears! Going to see if I can find the movie now! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

  • Ok. so I watched it again.. Probably the 200 time... BEST MOVIE EVER!

  • I love the Brits!

  • look at everybody in the EYES!

  • i love this flim i help's me

  • her son is now a poof.

  • The first time I saw this film I couldnt help crying as it was such a tender movie...all of us who are gay saw each other in that movie,I was a teenager then and trust me...it helped me feel I was "normal" and wasnt doing anything wrong.

  • @mccbcn77 You have said it all, and beautifully! Thanks!

  • @lolatyoulol: No, please, don't feel that way! You are only 17, go and LOVE! I am 70, my life is nearly over, and I don't despair of finding love,,, even if it is serial love .

  • i agree, the most amazing story, i still shed a tear when i i watch it, x

  • I've watched this on loop for god knows how long. I'm only 17, but I feel like this time of innocence has passed me by. I can't help to wonder if love so pure and warming will ever penetrate the thick wall I put between myself and others.

Oh how bittersweet this movie is.

  • Scott Neal (Ste), Linda Henry (Sandra), Tameka Empson (Leah) have all been in EastEnders, Linda and Tameka are now full time cast members. Tameka was also cast in 3 Non-Blondes, and StreetDance the movie. Glen Bery (Jamie), Scott Neal have both starred in The Bill together, Glen was also cast inan episode of Midsomers Murders and they both went to Anna Scher Theatre School.

  • @59211bart I spotted Aunt Sal and the Policewoman that hates the Mitchells in there too

  • Absolutely wonferdul movie....for all the people, age, sexuality and way of life....

Life is not easy, that's the movie says, but is better if you contribute to make it easy.

  • how sweet.....

  • Oh the things a mother does. Love, love, love

  • I think that is one of best scenes ever made in any film. I wish I was with them :D

And that greatly showed this funny little "normal" ppl around. I LOVE IT

  • its strange how a few mintues of film can end up being part of the fabric of your life!!!!

  • Im 34... I wish I can Go back to my 20's and do this things allover again.

  • Every time I see this movie, especially this scene, I cry. I'm crying now. I cry for my wasted youth, trying to be straight. I never knew this kind of love.

  • @gattamelata1940 Completely agree, same here. :(

  • @gattamelata1940 i'm sorry.. i know some of what u feel.. i wish i was 20 now..the boys have it so much better...times have changes so much in 20+ yrs. and i had it better than those before me.

  • Tenderly romantic!

  • i saw this movie when i was just a 16. I was so in love with this movie, It really spoke to me and showed me that love, happiness, and acceptance really can come true. and this song is soo beautiful, i wanna go back in time but without that gay hate and just live gay and happily.

  • Profoundly romantic!!! Long live LOVE!!!!

  • Got the DVD here. Love this film. Saw it over 10 years agon and its still one of my favourites. Thanks for uploading this clip!

  • the beauty of these two young men worthy of their age at the beginning of a misunderstood love for others

  • Ahhhhhhhhh el mejor final que he visto!!!!

  • Best video and audio quality of this clip I've found so far. And, of course, this and "Get Real" are the best of the recent Brit coming-of-age gay tales.

  • my favorite movie, been looking for it to rent or purchase. hard to find

  • you can get it on torrent

  • whats the film about? love the song... and how different does Shirley looook hAha

  • dci marsden having a drink

  • Marsden, Shirley, Aunt Sal and Kim, Denise's sister.

  • Sorry. Which are the four EastEnders actors you see? I see Linda Henry who plays Shirley in EE, Tameka Empson who played Kim (Denise's sister), Anna Karen who played Aunt Sal (Peggy's sister), but who's the fourth?

  • Such a great British film. Thanks for uploading this. I hope Tameka Empson comes back to EastEnders. I loved it at Denise's hen night when the writers made a nod to this movie with two of the actresses from this crossing paths.

  • Spot four Eastenders characters XD

  • nossa esse filme é muito lindo.O

    demais..!!

  • Love this scene. The mother's reaction is priceless

  • This movie just resonates with me more than any gay movie ever made. It is head and shoulders above anything else. A superb must see movie.

  • not gay but this ending is definitely one of the most beautiful thing ever seen in my life (just like the title itself)

Anyway, is his mom also a repressed gay?

  • No, she's not gay, she's just joining in for the hell of it and to show her son that she supports him.

  • r they gay?

  • how beautiful they are, these two young men, so nice, in love in full day, in the middle of people and face the world !

    Magnifique scène et musique !

    Thanks +++++++++++++++++

  • I love this movie and this end is priceless!! It made ma cry when I saw it for the first time.

  • you got it absolutely right! This end is PRICELESS and it gives you so much joy and warmth and hope!!

  • Perfect!

  • This Film was so Perfect and simple! Heard they want to make in USA can you imagine they will get some 40 year olds to play the teens, with Jane Fonda as the mother - ha ha

  • My favorite part of the movie.

  • This movie is pure magic, so innocent, so beautiful, so genuine

  • When the movie "Beautiful Thing" was released on screen I was just a teenboy. This film revealed something inside of me, it moved me profoundly.

Now, years later, I hear this song and it reminds me of so many beautiful things that have gone away...

    Regards from France

  • I do have the same impression, life still continues though, don't feel blue ;-)

  • lol my bf said i should watch this...

    I wanna watch it now!

  • I left America for England after seeing this and have been here ever since. The best thing I ever did. God I love this country!

  • Immagrant

  • welcome friend, i am so happy that you are here, i love this country too, and i was born here!!!

  • @titusmountjoy What is the name of this film? Is it Beautiful Thing?

  • @nbkcq28 It is indeed.

  • @titusmountjoy, Is England really any more tolerant than the US? I had the impression that Australia and the majority of the US and UK were all fairly INtolerant. Maybe I'm mistaken?? I'm gay, and live in Oklahoma, which is hell if you're gay, by the way.

  • @stillwaterguy04 The UK is more forward thinking as far as legal things go (we have Civil Partnership etc). Also, England is not dominated by evangelical fundamentalist Christianity as parts of the USA are. BTW I'm from NC, though I've been here 12 years. The English tend to be more tolerant, though yobs still cause problems for gay men and women.

  • @stillwaterguy04:Move to the real Europe, where you can fight hideous bigots by court as i experienced.Where do you find a country like Germany where now the Social Democrats,Greens&Left Party amount 58% in opinion polls due to an intolerant gay"liberal"secretary of state who did so much to denounce welfare receivers that his party dropped from16to5-4%.With a tolerant governing SPD-gay mayor in Berlin for 8years+an

(o.k.)CDU-gay mayor in Hamburg for8years who just resigned+said:I´ve had enough!

  • @titusmountjoy just do it as you see here (mother dancing).... look them in the eye ! ....

  • @titusmountjoy I visited after seeing this movie, though didn't have the gumption to stay! Stay well!

  • @titusmountjoy good choice! :D

  • Beautiful Thing. The best gay movie Ive ever seen. You wont be disappointed.

  • I really liked the neighbour in the blue shirt drinking the glass of wine who was on their side. I wish everyone could be like that. Accepting.

  • She was Jamies mums work colleague :P

Also when they filmed this they didn't tell the extra's what they were filming so sadly alot of the negative reactions were real :(

  • Oh wow, this was a powerful scene...man those kids are in love!

  • Its the best movie ever! I dont know the movie just gives you some hope that everything is going to b all right that love is possible and its the best end scene ever

  • the best movie gay!!!, la mejor pelicula gay

  • Agreed! I mostly like gay films involving cross dressing because they're hilarious...or lesbian films but this has to be the best gay romance!

  • yes, I agree with you, is one of the most romantic scenes in the film, gay movies that you like?

  • Priscilla, To Wong Foo, the Birdcage. Never really got into the gay romance though. Maurice was pretty good. Yours?

  • o fantasma, in a year with 13 moons, you i love, te aseguro que son muy buenas!!!

  • Wow I haven't heard of any of those. I'll put O Fantasma in my queue on Netflix right now though.

  • OMG I had to come back and tell you that I am scarred for life watching O Fanstasma. It's storyline was non-existent and basically is porn with no tenderness. It was about rape and completely confusing! So no kudos for your recommendation!

  • I love the slowmotion moments that occurs in 3:05... The expression in Sandra's face is so... especial!

  • I visited Thamesmead with a group of "Beautiful Thing" fans in 1997 and got to see where this was shot. I was with a bunch of fans who met Jonathan Harvey in 1999 at the off-off-Broadway premiere of the play (which, I might add, is great).

Fun fact: The extras (neighbors, etc.) were paid £5 for standing around in the scene.

  • My adoptive one isn't and my biological one is dead. RIP

  • It would be nice if all mothers were this supportive. :')

  • this scene is a beautiful thing

  • YAY

  • i love LEAH !!!!

  • I love this film, and must have replayed this video loads of times since I first discovered it! Thanks very much for putting it up on here :)
