They aren't photoshopped. These hyenas are fat, overfed pets, not the lean, well-conditioned specimens running around the savannahs. You notice they're muzzled in public so obviously they are only partially domesticated.

@HunterofDarkness283 Maybe it's possible to domesticate hyenas, but research suggests that it would take at least three generations to do so, and even then it wouldn't be certain. They have centuries of wildness and raw aggression bred into them, can weigh almost 200lbs and are able to crack elephant bones with the jaws.

To make an anmimal domesticated, you need to breed it several generations to make certain characteristics come through, like low aggression and a "will to please" for example, that will say-you have to choose to breed animals that show these characteristics a little more than the general hyena . These hyenas are not bred to be homogeneous. Look it up on google and read about it, these animals are abused to obey. I don't think it's bad to keep pets, but wild animals? Yes, indeed.

why is it horrible? there are animals in captivity all over the world, do you find it horrible? these people having been breeding Hyena's for generations.....for them its tradition passed down from their ancestors 100s of yrs ago.

The Hyena's are well looked after and are used as guard dogs....they do not use it for fighting like we see here in the west

@leftyking500: What are u talking about ("breeding hyenas for generations..." and so on...) these guys are ex-criminals who use the hyenas (3 hyenas, 4 apes, 1 rock python) for entertaining the crowd in sometimes cruel ways. The photographer said they do a living out of this and that they r also often very brutal with the animals...a lot of animal rescue services wanted to free them but they have permission from the nigeria goverment....
