i am really really impressed i own a blacksmith shop at a mine musuem and would love to run my entire shop off one steam engine keep up the good work!
@lansfordno9mine you should check out this guys setup. It's unbelievable!!!! Search Reid running a line shaft. It won't let me put a link in the comment :-(
That seems to be many revolutions before a startup! What kind of spark plug are you running in that thing? (a CHAMPION 25?) One machine turns all? lol Thanks for sharing this interesting video!!!
@MrSciencetificsasuke No the clutch is a original that I had laying around. Not sure what it was used for originally. I did remove the step pulley that was on it and replaced it with the one I needed for the drill press. I do have another one that is similar that I could show you if you would like.
That is one of the coolest shops I have ever seen. Put some high heat exhaust Permetex gasket sealer on the joint to seal it up so you wont get gases or have to smell the exhaust. Man that is a sweet shop now. I am happy for you with I had one just like it.
Cool! The sort of shop my grandfather would have built!

@MrSciencetificsasuke it is a fairbanks morse motor. I use that to run the lineshaft also.

Wow nice set up. Is that a generator above that boiler thing? Or an electic motor as an alternative power source?
1944johndeerel 1 month ago
@1944johndeerel that's a electric motor. It was on the lathe when I bought it. It is for the days I don't want to run the novo. :-)
