  • its a joke this ranking UH-60 gets 2nd place while Mi-24 takes 6th place...

these experts got to be kidding

  • @JASHVEER22 pro american as usual.

Or, considering that Sikorsky is russian....

  • @Itskiryl33397 sikorsky is polish ...everyone who have surname finish on -ski- or -sky- is polish or with polish roots

  • @rambomj1 Well, didn't know. I got info that he was Russian because he fled to America during revolution.

  • Comment removed

  • @JASHVEER22 Thats not experts this is western propaganda, they always put their stuff infront of russian stuff. But russian military equipment is the most succesfull and still the best for each battlefield.Mi24 you can use everywhere the survivibility is more than usual attack helicopter like Apache.AKs RPGs, Mi24,T72 and lot of more they are battle proven and this is the reason why arabian people and asian people prefer russian/soviet technology.

  • so its a gunship and a transporter?........awesome!

  • 10 tons of rockets,bombs and bullets.And 8 russian paratroopers on dessert...

  • @Jkpqr

Double that number after the new Ace Combat comes out.

  • that chopper is intimidating

  • 11 kills

  • People rating this chopper would be amazed if they saw what our flyboys can do with those flying tanks.

  • the russian dragon

  • I have an uncle that was in the Iran-Iraq War fighting for Iran. He told me he was on the mountains with his mates and that he spotted an Iraqi Hind spraying all the infantry men and tanks down below and that the soldiers were throwing whatever they had but the Hind just killed everyone and every tank, after the massacre it just calmly returned from behind the mountains. My Uncle had nightmares ever since...

  • this was chuck norse`s first car

  • The mi-24 hind is in one of the call of duty. Black ops.a very very populare game

  • and currently the Russians are building super hinds to replace the old hinds ( I know it's the same choppa with upgrades like night vision and stuff but anyways)

  • A COLD WAR LEGEND!!!!

  • @warana2 Its still legend.

  • lol @ rolling takeoff and the part where they explain it could chop off its own rotor.. Now THAT"s some proper engineering guys.... :S The hind is a very cool chopper tough...

  • I dont even like the hind but this should be atleast second and the huey first and i was disappointed the Mi-8 hip wasnt on the list

  • You know it's the best when Star Wars uses this as the inspiration for the Republic Gunships

  • definatly my favorite attack helicopter. i like it cause it looks like a freakn monster with big eyes, and instead of the U.S. byn a Black hawk and an apache, the Russians can by Hinds that serve both purposes

  • their are only 3 things wrong with the hind (1) it's not very maneuverable (2) it gives off a large heat signature (3) it sometimes has to make a rolling takeoff

  • This helicopter is more badass than the AH-64. It can take such a whooping and still land normally with live people in it. It is truly a flying tank.

  • One thing the Apache Longbow has over the Hind is that the Apache uses more advanced missles like hellfire. TOW, and HPVC

  • @TheMAG97 man, the apache is comparable to the MI-31, not the hind!!

  • cod:black ops :D

  • The Hind deserves to be in top 3 at least...

  • I hate this helicopter

  • I was young when I saw a few hundred of them fly over my house. four wide and very well piloted. It took them over 20 minutes to finish the show. I still remember that as clear as day, and that was in the late '70. That chopper makes an impression that is like nothing else.

  • Stinger Missile > Mi-24 Hind

  • I gotta say this sucks! They really gave Hind low innovation and versatility? It is the only successful attack/transport hybrid. It does both well(especially attack). Survivability low, because of stingers? Stingers can drop anything that flies with no problem! Wy is it only Hind´s problem. It is also the most combat seen helicopter in the world. It´s in use all around the world.

    Hind should definately be 1st!!!

  • @qelleri Probably has something to do with those old cold war politics that they don't want to give the Soviets any credit, it's bad enough that the AK-47 undoubtedly kicks the M-16's ass.

  • @qelleri Please do understand. They're americans. It's in their nature to lie and spill their bullshit and propaganda.

That's the reason why in European version the best tank is Leo 2,and in the American version, the best is Abrams. They couldn't handle the fact that someone can make better machines than they,so they make a version for their idiots for every type of show.

  • @didi89s Does the Leo 2 have depleted uranium in its armor.I live in the US and there is no propaganda besides Bin laden during Bush's term. You are wrong because even we aknowledge that the Russians have better spec ops then we do.In fact every nation will at least make some better machines than each other so don't just misjudge gringos.Besides the Abrams is one of the best tanks in the world becuz of its great protection and armament.I'm not sayin it's the best but it's one of them.

  • @qelleri because the guys judging this helicopter are american bigots, cant handel soviet tech being better than their crap!!!

  • @qelleri daaaamn straight dude Im with u!!!!

  • @qelleri They also only took into account 1 variant.

  • @qelleri well you know this is one fucking American TV channel

  • @2ndstanguner no one asked u to watch american tv

  • @aznkid353 yes but what to watch? There is no channel what is not American.

  • @qelleri Innovation low? In fact Charlie Crawford said that Americans do not combined Apaches and Black Hawks. The now-a-days Apache (ranked in the first position) is an usual attack helicopter with a nice radar and a lower armament capacity of this one. Despite Mi-24 is 50% more heavy than Apache it moves faster.

And please, the now-a-days Mi-24 is not the same Mi-24 of twenty years ago

  • @Kriegerdammerung I know that. What´s your point? Did you think that I thought that Mi-24 is a bad chopper?

  • @qelleri No lad, I agree totally with you, I seldom know persons who like the Mi-24. I am starting to think that the Discovery Channel programs are fakes and unreliables.

  • @Kriegerdammerung Well, excellent. I think I misunderstood you.

  • @qelleri no offense to the US of A, but because it is a program of that type, they can't let another countries design be better.

  • @qelleri overall it is an innovative concept, however i think the russians over compensated, this thing is just to damn heavy, it has to take off like a normal aircraft would limit its overall effectiveness, sometimes the simplest weapon is the best,

  • @qelleri i think they just have terrible ways to grade these choppers just because something is not innovative doesnt mean it is not good and they do fear factor for a chinook OF COURSE IT HAS LOW FEAR FACTOR it is a cargo and troop transport mainly cargo they should not put utility helicopters along with attack helicopters in the same list hind best support and hybrid helicopter no doubt but not the best attack or utility helicopter

  • @qelleri

What would you expect from an American programme.

  • @qelleri the thing has to make a rolling takeoff when fully loaded...defeating the purpose of having a helicopter and that alone is enough to push it out of the #1 spot, and with its(as they said)extremely poor maneuverability, heat signature(which would make it an easy target for ANY missile),and the ability to chop off its own tail,it should be considered lucky to have made it to #6,its max takeoff weight isnt great for its size, and with only 8 troops it can BARELY be considered a"transport".

  • @hotpocketpoison Rolling takeoff is just optional. Ive seen Mi-24V's with same heavy payload takeoff normally or make rolling takeoff, also Mi-24's W/O ANYTHING make rolling takeoff too. It doesnt have "extremely" poor maneuverability, but has lower maneuverability than other attack helicopters, but it IS faster. Dont care about heat signatures, most rockets now are very sensitive can even detect pilot sweat inside aircraft. It carries small attack force(spetsnaz) while providing air support=good.#1

  • @999cheetos999 actually it ISNT optional when fully loaded with its maximum weight of munitions.and YES compared to other attack helicopters and even other transport helicopters its maneuverability is astoundingly low.trying to make a"jack of all trades"is actually more detrimental than beneficial.and like i said it also has a very low max takeoff weight considering how powerful its engines are, which would make it less effective in combat.jack of all trades=master of none! the Mi-24 isnt great.

  • @hotpocketpoison Ive seen ALOT of Mi-24V's or P's make a normal takeoff fully loaded, whats your point? The rolling takeoff is faster than taking off normally but it isnt actually necessary. Its not astoundingly low, you can ridicule it that much but ive seen Russian pilots maneuver it perfectly, and is faster than Apache. Helicopters doesnt need much maneuverability and speed at the same time too, as they are gunships and are static compared to jets.It faced many battles,#6 is dishonorable.

  • @hotpocketpoison Also remember that MANPADS such as STINGERS are overpowered for its generation. A Russian Strela-2 shot down an AC-130 with ease, it will do the same or worse on low flying aircraft like helicopters. There is also NO account of Mi-24 chopping its own tail rotor off, it might happen but all these years it didnt, its like American media saying T-62's loader rams peoples arm in it, yet it also NEVER happened.Mi-24 sacrifices maneuverability for speed and insane armor.

  • @999cheetos999 Never happened? The T-72A had a major auto-loader problem. The crew spaces were very cramped. Secondly, the T-72 had horrible ballistics/fire control, and the T-72B1 did not have ATGM firing capabilities, making it useless, even if we could not take it down with our early 120mm rounds (Silver bullet A1). As for the Hind, it did come with a high-heat signature that was hard to beat off.

  • @Tyco200 Give me a historical account that someones arm was eaten by the auto loader or an MI-24 chopping its own tail rotor. Were talking about the T-72M1 here, downgraded version, I was comparing it with the Russain T-72B. The Russians already admitted stripping the export T-72M almost entirely, also the fire control option and the sights+UV. And quit running around the T-72 variants the T-72B"1" is a variant that has no ATGM, and its not Russias main T-72.Flares almost eliminated FIM threat.

  • @qelleri

Its an American Propaganda thats why.

  • @qelleri or atleast nr 2

  • @qelleri Your wrong. The Mi24 is very good, yes. But the stinger in afghanistan against soviet Mi24 was overrated, Stinger was only good a short time after the soviets put IR supressor on Mi24 the stinger had no chance against Mi24. The Apaches exhaust is bigger than Mi24 and the Apache has IR supressor but the turbines of Apache make fucking huge exhaust temperature. The Mi24 is the most succesfull Attack Helicopter on earth, its more maneuvrable, faster and more survivability than AH64D.

  • @Talshet Well then thats even more pros for HINd

  • @qelleri The new mordernized Superhind has better electronis than any other helicopter. Just google for Superhind or ATE industries, southafricans mordernized the Mi24 with all new stuff. And russian Mi35 is very good mordernized Mi24 for export its still uptodate and can deal nowdays with most helicopters.

  • Where is all this awesome combat footage from?

  • D: Hind' s aren't ugly...

they are badass. looks like a dragon in a way.

  • @MrKevstro but still a fat dragon

  • @rc88fex the fatter the scarier.

  • @MrKevstro no offend! makes it able to carry more badass guns... ;)

  • @rc88fex :D FAT DRAGON BABIES WITH GUNS!

  • Ugly ?? O__o

  • @geforce5700fx they dont know what is ugly!

    hind is just sexy!

  • Google guns a go-go.

  • The Hind can kiss the apache's tail rotors. Apache FTW

  • that thing just looks MEAN ... the appache is a indian this is a friggin meteor colliding :)

  • @KusokRus lol I understand the whiskey, but I have to disagree with you about the coward thing.

PS what country are you from that makes you so speacial?

  • Sorry, I meant MrLexington1971

  • @MeLexigton1971 yeah, that's why we are the #1 superpower of the world.

  • @Ghostoxo3 And where is Russia now???? Drowning in vodka.

  • @Awesomechild96 Where is America?? Mcdonalds

  • @MrLexington1971 america replies with the apache. what now bitch

  • @MrLexington1971 that's why the choppers ranked 1-5 are all american right?

  • @Awesomechild96 Nation of whiskey and a cowards! America Sucks!

  • Once again the Americans have to come up with something to counter the Russian's genius works

  • @Ghostx0x3 @KusokRus Actually, the Cobra is the first successful attack helicopters. Coward? Hm. Who braver. The Hind which was grounded when Stingers came into play or Cobras that remain in the air despite radar guide AA and SAM. The Cobra is still in service while the Mi-24 is now for show.

  • @916ppl MI-24 is still in use with many Armies, you are saying that AH-1 could stay operational even when flying over enemy airspace while being shot at with radar guided missiles and other shit? I doubt that.

  • @SuperFinnish No. I put that AH-1 were not ground like the Mi-24. Vietnam demand the value of air transport as land vehicles have great difficult to go through thick jungle.

  • Pretty transport... but the AH-64D is the greatest attack helo ever... makes this flying BMP look like a Dinosaur.

  • First Hinds in afghanistan were lightened and did not use heat dispatchers (where would muhadejin get IR / HS missiles huh) nor heat flares. Result was loss of tens of Hinds (video claimed hundreds, but at that time soviet's haven't several hundreds of hinds and muhadejiin couldnt shot them all down).

  • @thomaspruzina The Soviet respond quickly by limiting its air force operation in Afghanistan. The Red Army was then task to engage the Mujaheddin in the mountains. Well you could just say Soviets, at that time, was new in fighting Mujaheddin fighters arm with AK-47 and RPG-7 instead of the usually Lee Enfield. Even a more terrifying thing await for Soviet armor. The US send another missile system specially for the Soviet tankers.

  • @916ppl Hunting guerilla in the Afghan Mountains on Foot?

No wonder that war never went anywhere. Not that there were any alternatives.

  • @Yora21 No. That was Vietnam. Americans vehicles cannot go through dense jungles.

The Soviet had APC and MBT to help their infantry. Problem was, as I had put down, that the US had supplied the Mujaheddin with additional RPG-7s and assault rifles. As well as sending advance anti-tank missiles. All of these weapon came at the last stage of the war. However, the Mujaheddin was able to killed 15,000 Soviet and destroyed hundreds of tanks and aircraft before the Soviet withdraw.

  • im american, but this beats apache by millions

  • But the rating in that Series is all American ^^

  • ugly ? i thought it looks pretty cool lol

  • Yet another Russian made weapon beaten by American weaponry. It's a nice helicopter, but it can't beat the Cobra or the Apache :)

  • Best looking chopper ever

    What a beast

  • 1:04 DID THAT DUMB MOTHERFUCKER JUST CALL THE HIND UGLY?HOW CAN YOU CALL SUCH A BEATIFUL MACHINE "UGLY"?DAMN WHAT AN IDIOT

  • @gtamodman122 : Most Americans can´t deal with the fact the Soviets DID design, develop, and produced many weapon systems that were clearly superior to what they had in their inventory. It´s not nice to recall that during Vietnam they had to deploy the effective, but ultra-weak, UH-1s that were shot down by the thousands, while in Afghanistan the Soviets had this magnificent gunship (with FAR less losses) -so they rushed to help the Afghan terrorists with portable missiles to counter the Hinds-.

  • @vonkaunaz, cause UH-1's were a utility vehicle, meaning it could drop off supplies, pick up wounded, do search and rescue missions, and much more which the Mi-24 couldn't do. UH-1 never had armor due to the fact it slows down helicopters very much, but it's been on millions of missions during vietnam which it's failing or shot down record is very much low compared it's success flights.

Only confirmed down helicopters in Afghanistan were only confirmed by pictues, Soviets never released.

  • @vonkaunaz, Soviets never released their information about how many helicopters were shot down. Mujahideen claims it shot down over 1000 helicopters not to mention you have to count the ones which crash accident but never confirmed unless real proof which the Mujahideen didn't care about.

  • @USSOCOMpower: 1000?? What a joke! Afghans of today claim to have defeated Alexander The Great. Muhaideen were -are- primitive people even with USA supplied portable missile in their hands. I have friends in the Russian army and have talked of Hind losses in Afghanistan, and the OVERWHELMING majority of losses were due to weather and terrain attrition rather than the action of the poor Afghans. The Huey was a fine chopper, but it got deployed in a type of environment where it suffered terribly.

  • @vonkaunaz There's no way they could've shot down a thousand Hinds given the fact there quite a few failures withe the Stinger Missile Launchers when they were first supplied to the Muhaideen. However the problems were worked out the weapon start working correctly. Given this these facts the figures on how many Hinds were actually shot down have to be lower than 1000.

  • @vonkaunaz the russians basically mixed the ah1 and uh1

  • Muhajideen was this organisation that was supposted to ''protect'' Afghanistan from the Soviet might. They did it well, but as the aftermath it gave birth to the Terrorist organisation called the Taliban (and kind of Al-Qaeda)

    Good became Evil.

  • The most bad ass looking attack heli ever build.

  • it is a bit true that because it is a soviets helicopter they make it lower on the list but still they put the t-34 and the ak-47 at 1st place on other top ten.

  • @thegabshow1 Yes, T-34 and AK-47 on 1st place in their top 10, but it looks as favour from their side......

  • @Bunker161 I have to agree

  • Comment removed

  • Fucking americans ! "MI 24 - look agly", "AK-47 - look agly", T-34 - look agly". Look at your weapon ! Your "Cobra" - look like a flea, your "abrams" - look like a sky-scraper. You go on a desert and want to drink and then you see a puddle, but you say " oh no i will not drink that water because this puddle are so agly" - you fucking idiots ! Best weapon - Soviet weapon even now !

  • @Bunker161 I do believe a lot of the weapons that the soviet union did where and still are the best but to the US and a lot of countries in Europe the design of these are really unusual; How the AK's gas chamber is over the barrel and how the Hind has that unique large, round stubby form, the cockpit design also looked odd to everyone, but what some call "odd" I personally call it Innovative and new. Not everyone believes these things are "ugly" just have extremely unorthodox appearances.

  • @MrKevstro I just wanted to say one simple thing. In every top by diskovery or military channel - they always trying to say something bad about Soviet weapon, Soviet country - it is does not matter what - just something bad. They even entrance by nazi troops!!! And i think - if you talk about something - be bjective, have a little respect to another people, because there are many countries exept England and USA...

  • Ahh. The APC of the sky, my favourite!

  • I thought the croc was the Ka-50....

  • How is this ugly it's beautiful!

  • It would be interesting to see how the MI-24 would perform with aviation and weapon systems upgraded to Apache Longbow's standards

  • I think it's an excellent concept, yet the execution was piss poor.

  • why are russian designs so under-rated the russian army aint a walk over force, they only take equipment that WORKS it might not be small or a digital computer marvel but if something has to go dead charred or positivly destroyed just leave it to russian .. ingenuity if you will to think up something that will do that job effectively and reliably without problems what-so-ever...

  • this should be way higher way way higher

  • Only 20 rocketts? It looks like it could carry 20 in one pod. I think its more like 40 rocketts, it has four rockett pods.

  • This should be number 1

  • the Hind is still my No.1 Heli. If I'd be rich I'd own one!

  • this helicopter is the most thick armoured helicopter ever made.

  • They don't mention that if you maneuvure the Apache the wrong way then it's rotors will smack into it's nose, but claim the Hind has a major problem because if you meavure it wrong the rotor smacks into the tail.

    Hypocrosy much?

  • @Ag3nt0fCha0s

Gotta remember though, this is an American made show -not that I have anything against it, or else why would I be watching?- this show is made to show case American war machine dominance over other war machines. So take this show with a grain of salt, and compare it's data with other documentaries and personal research.

  • @executer40

    Preaching to the converted :-)

  • @executer40 one of the shows was about tanks. they even critisized the abrams. the number one tank was the t34. same with another show the number one tank was the leo 2

  • it's the all new lmfaocopter

  • this chopper is very scary but it has seen combat not only in afghanistan but also in 1st and second chechen wars also in georgia 2008 this chopper is one of the best Да здравствует Советская империя !!!!!!!!!!!

  • should been top 3

  • My type of Airframe,it can carry a squad(2 fireteams) as well as defend itself and be sent on Search & Destroy Missions.

  • that Mi-24 is a BEAST! I would shit my pants if it came after me.

  • @amartinjoe I can't believe that. it has more capacity, more rockets, and more speed that the apache, and was set free 14 years earlier. Once again, Russia 1, america 0.

  • @dropmegaboulder yet the soviet union, which this was originally built under, lost. So America:1 Russia:0

  • @kterris1 man, it lost due to covert operations, if the US wasn't such a vagina for an armed conflict, IT would have raped a majority of the US army!!!

  • @harris3693 you can have all of the rockets in the world, but they wont do much good if you can't hit anything. I'm not going to play into your 'my dick is bigger than yours' bullshit, but history speaks for itself, American tech vs Soviet tech, American tech has always come out on top. plain and simple, these are historical facts. Take a look at the record of the F-15 Eagle vs Soviet made fighters.

  • @kterris1 sure, man, most of them were piloted by novice pilots. BTW, the F-15 was based of the mig foxbat, thus it aint trully american.

  • @harris3693 false, it prompted the US to develop a plane that could match it, it wasn't based off it. and another point wasn't the foxbat designed as an interceptor? while the f-15 designed as an air superiority fighter? I just destroyed your argument. why would you base a fighter off of an interceptor? and about your last comment calling me a redneck, you just proved how intolerant you 'tolerant' canadians are. you're tolerant as long as people agree with you... hahaha

  • @kterris1 btw, the US also says its share of edited history. The USA ain't "God's gift" redneck!!!

  • @kterris1 and if u wanna talk about tech, the Soviets were the first in Space, first fully self fucntional space station, they were the first to develop the Head mounted targeting system (on the MiG-31) which the F-35 now uses after 30 years. They also created the world's most dependable rocket engine , the Energia.

  • @harris3693 yes, the soviets started out winning the space race, but it was a race they eventually lost. I already said i didn't want to turn this into a pissing match, but here are counterpoints. and actually the head mounted targeting system was developed by the south africans. the soviets saw how their aircraft were getting owned by this, and developed a counterpart for the mig29, not the 31. The energia as i understand is used to launch the buran shuttle, which was very unsuccessful. as the

  • @harris3693 Buran was copied directly from the shuttle, and the Energia only had 2 launches, hardly enough to call it the most dependable.taking a look at its american counterpart the Saturn V, which has had 12 successes and 0 failures. The Energia 1 Success, 1 partial failure.

statistics say the Saturn V is more dependable,

a Canadian keyboard warrior says the Energia is the most dependable.

I trust the statistics more, sorry

  • @harris3693 that being said the soviets developed a remarkable computer, that would scan photos, and allow government officials to alter them, it was ahead of its time, and would forever change the face of photoshop...

  • gotta love the "gorbach" boys!!! yeAh!

  • Crocodile, Flying Tank, the American armor crewmen also called it the "Boogeyman" during the cold war days.

  • It will always have a place in my heart. And on my helipad. And take a little trip to my Ex's house

  • what a load of bs reasons to rate this chopper down. It owns many, many western helicopters which only look cool

  • @tsxws Apparently you didnt see the end. The hind has a high heat signature that is target practise for stingers. Fuck off and get an education before you try to say shit.

  • Those little wings give 30% more lift.

  • its cool but its has a strange structure

  • much better than they huey

  • MAN US ARMY SUCKS ELAPHANT COCKS

Defeated in vietnam what the congs had weapons ak's rpg's and little tanks

and really limited aircraft and they still defeated the AMERICANS PFFFF Unfortunately in every event there must be a loser

  • @rock4eternity666

Why are you even talking, faggot? Your profile says you're from Malta. Just shut up and keep quiet in your worthless country.

  • @randir14 at least our country does not enter war because just they thiink That they are the greatest country and loose the belles too SOOOOO shut the fuck up and fuck the usa

  • @rock4eternity666

Lol what. Pretty sure our country invaded Iraq and Afghanistan because of the 9/11 attacks (or at least that was the pretense), not because we think we're the greatest country. Many Americans don't even want our military to be there.

  • @randir14 Yeah sure that most americans dont want to be there but you re americans and you should know that the war of iraq started in july of 1991 in desert storm and it wasnt the iraqis fault man IM NOT ANGRY

  • @rock4eternity666 why wont you read battlefield vietnam timelines so you will know the truth the u.s. was winning during their occupation after tet it was a u.s. victory but the public opinions seems to view it as a defeat because they became sensitive about the american losses.. if you could read the whole vietnam war story u.s. just withrewed not defeated

  • brazil bought 12 hinds for protection of amazon and borders

  • I am an Argentine fan of the Mi-24V Helicopter, I think you must use 40mm or up guns to bypass its hull.

  • nice

  • this and the huey are my favorite helicopters.

it's not ugly. it's awesome looking.

  • no one will forget Afghanistan when the veterans will see this chopper this has served them for many years i also respect the aircraft of it's destructive moves

  • this helicopter rocks though not as good as the apache everytime i see that helicopter i remember my father serving the soviet afghan war

  • @dimitboris

    SoO u are from russia

  • @MuerteyMalevolencia yes why?

  • @dimitboris

Why do you think Apache is better? Hind can do more.

  • @vodkasvictim well comrade as i have studied both aircrafts the apache is more manueverable and smaller which gaves its advantage to evade attacks while the hind yes it is heavily armoured than the apache but its too big and it has two roles an attack role and it has a cabin section of 8 troops and it is bigger but though more heavily armed it is very easy for an anti aircraft man to hit an rpg on it only the ka 50 can match the apache's capabilities
