Music for the Masses was my intro to DM when I was about 14. Loved this tune and follwed them through their career. Even bought their previous releases too all the way back to SpeaknSpell. As for music today, you have to search hard, but Assemblage 23 is carrying on the tradition nicely!
Brilliant....I was still quite young (11) when this took place....but I got to know Depeche Mode through my older Sisters....wow what a show....wish I had been there!
what is the name of the blond man that appears at 1:22 minutes. is him Barry Pepper the actor?? he looks a famous person, and the girls with him?? thank everybody
Saw DM a few days before this show in Phoenix, AZ and if it wasn't for a few people talking about the next show at the Rose Bowl I would have missed this! What a historic show and glad I was able to be a part of it! Wire, Thomas Dolby and OMD were support, no?
This was the absolute peak of their career and you can see in Dave Gahans facial expressions that they know it. 80000+ people and I was a mere 15 rows from the stage.
@runemason If this was the absolute peak of their career, how come that their woldwide breakthough came with the Album Violator -90 and the songs Personal Jesus, Enjoy the silence? I would say that this was the beginning of their career...
@TheErnfrid I saw them many times before this concert and a few times after. While I agree they did and still write great songs, this was byfat the best performance I saw them, and do you think DM could sell out the Rose Bowl after this year?
@runemason Yeah, I´m sure that if they hade gone back to the Rose bowl in like -90-91 they could have sold out the Rose Bowl again. But nowdays? Sadly no......
@TheErnfrid They could sell out the Rose Bowl still; with a catch, enough advance notice and limiting their West Coast shows, they could do it no problem... 2013 maybe? 25th anniversary....
@runemason I don't think was the peak. The peak was definitely post Violator to post SOFAD and the decline was a result of the absence of Alan Wilder. They could have got better.
@runemason musically, peaked 18 months later with Violator. But spot on, Essex boy grin, "we're the nuts, aren't we?" Nothing wrong with well placed confidence.
Was there. It was just an absolutely AMAZING concert, from start to end. Soooooo lucky!

Oh my god, I love Depeche Modeeee, I would have liked to live that time with
Depeche Mode.
What a shame, I have a fiffteen years old, should have been born before.
I have seen many videos of DM, I have heard many songsI follow from inside me, but my essence is with them, for ever with Dave and DM.

@nicholaszz that is the most epic comment ever. i did say i feel so sorry for this generation because the music from the 80's and 90's rocked.

@3timeless6: Yes it did, and anyone who says otherwise is a fool. As far as the "peak" of their career, I would say it was Violator, personally.
