Paul wasn't one of the twelve. He was chosen by the ascended glorified Jesus Christ, and he's our (gentiles) spokesman for today (the dispensation of the grace of God)

@zacqt God had a secret. Jesus Christ spoke from heaven, Paul's words are Jesus Christ's words TO us, gentiles. According to the mystery (unsearchable, hidden, a secret), NOT according to prophecy.

That's why Paul stresses the importance of following him, which is how we follow Jesus Christ in this current dispensation called the dispensation of the grace of God ;)
