  • This beautiful. Does anyone else hear a Johnny Cash quality about his voice?

I tried to follow along, but for some reason the chords seem...off some how. Any help deciphering would be appreciated.

    Great video.

  • does sound like Mr.Cash!!! i guess thats the tone of voice that comes from singing what you mean and meaning what you sing!!!

    Beautiful...

  • This is a great song and a wonderful rendition of it. My mother and grandparents came over from Ireland when she was a young girl. I know this song means the world to alot of people in my family as it has been played at several wakes. Great Job !! Brought a tear to my eye

  • We played this song at my nannys funeral as it was her favourite song..Even after being ill for so long she would still sing it..great

  • Yes.. I was in Ireland with Terryle and I am of the same opinion... Thank you for this song and for heartbreaking version. Go raibh maith agat...

  • Beautiful song, and it is the most beautiful version that I have found... I came home from Ireland yesterday and now I had tears in my eyes when I heard this song... Thank you very much for it. Tell your grandpa that he's a great musician that can give heart to the song... Go raibh mile maith agat!

  • Great! Really great!

  • wich is the first chord?

  • It's the fingering of D major , with the capo it's aught to sound E major but with my guitar not usually being in proper pitch , who knows?

  • whenever i stayed with my grandparents when i was little, my grammy would always sing this to us.

so i came to the internet to search for a simple, sweet, authentic version, and i'm very glad i stumbled upon this!

  • beautiful...

I was at my grandfather's (he's 93) last night and he sang this song and told me that his father use to sing this to him while they hauled wood out of the forest in the dead of winter out in New Brunswick. This song has been passed down generation to generation in my family.

almost brought me to tears.... Thx to you I will now learn it on guitar and sing it proudly.
