  • what's the names of the songs ?

  • In case of Lars Eric I truly understand opinions about managers. I once met him in the early 90's while working for a guitar import company. His manager wanted to have an endorsement contract with Valley Arts Guitars (pre-Samick). Valley Arts had endorsement with Lukather, Carlton and Lee Sklar. Period. Lars Eric was, no matter how talented, a player from periphery Aland islands between Finland and Sweden, with no huge fame. Hard. Also, the same manager tried to arrange a live (continued...)

  • Sungha Jung.

  • @WreckedCannon Kids scary good.

  • technically...its good.... but it dont make me wanna listen to it much really...

  • wow he's better than me!

  • @Staplesz hehe... Yea, me too ;)

  • he is definetly one of the best. right up there with petrucci loomis and paul wardingham

  • He is awesome , but he is still not the best !

  • @FlapSkate to some people BB King is the best. The best is perspective.

  • @highintel Have you been to a BB King concert? I did and will never go to another one. He introduced the band 3 times, played very little and not that good, and talked more then he played. Maybe his age has something to do with it, but today he wouldn't even get rated as a great guitar player in my opinion? Now 30 years ago might be a different story, but not today.

  • @mr10169michael that same show might have been the highlight in another persons life.

  • He's great at what he does, but I'm more into jazz and fusion. No one cares about cool chord progressions anymore. Everybody wants to play scales and arpeggios at a million miles an hour over static chords and vamps. I'd rather hear Michael Brecker or Herbie Hancock...let alone Frank Gambale or Allan Holdsworth.

  • @Modes9 I hear ya.. I just know he is a great guy with virtually no exposure. he gets a lil more progressive in some songs but no Jazz like you like.

My Favorite Guitarist at the moment is Keith Merrow . Another unknown guitarist, barely any leads, but some really melodic riffs. Check out Pillars of creation or any of his stuff and see what you think ;)

    Peace

  • Wonderful!

  • this is shity music, this guy sounds like everybody else. Simple shredding

  • @torohec Simple? Maybe if your tabbing it on guitar pro but I can guarantee you cannot touch this guy.

  • @torohec

I agree, this is just boring to me

  • @torohec Yeah dude! and that simple shredding is something you will never achive in your WHOLE life.... ;)

  • @JustcallmeEma !@!@! Ema sweet heart, relax baby. Dont get your panties in a bunch over my silly little comment. Look, sit down honey and let me poor you a nice tall glass of my enema water. Drink it, floaties and all, and I am sure you will feel a lot better. I do already.

    Take it easy sweet cakes!

    Love Torohec

  • @torohec I'm too busy practicing guitar for wasting my time with this. See ya!

  • @JustcallmeEma !@!@! What?? You dont want any of my Enema water?? Come on toots drink up and enjoy. You must be thirsty from all of that shredding!

  • good

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhh

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey thanks for the post. I'm absolutely in love with Shawn Lane's work but it's refreshing to know that there are so many other talented guitarists out there that need recognition like this one. Thumbs up to you for sharing man :-bd

  • why must the fastest always need to be good? nooo feelings in it!

Zakk Wylde - Farwell Ballad there is a solo to talk about!

  • Great playing!!

  • Awesome but not Hendrix :D sorryyy if you hate me for this comment

  • The first few solo's were the best. He is an awesome guitarist

  • @highintel

That was my first thought ! This Guitar Player sounds Girlie like....Sugar and Candy Sound ;) Ideal for Modern Talking.

  • @abc123gpl this guy is good. not much more to say.

  • @highintel

well, this guy is super underrated and i need to check him out, but there are cleaner guitarists. if you compare how "clean" a guitarists is compared to another and they both never miss a note then it comes to who plays the harder stuff. shawn lane. nuff said. rusty cooley too, he is wicked clean and plays harder stuff than this guy.

  • @Fluffypopcicle yea, everyone knows who they are though ;) Shawn lane is amazing.. Rusty is..... well... fast.

  • @highintel

ah, come on. rusty makes good music too. his solos are phenomenal too. he doesn't have the songwriting skills of this guy, but he has better technical chops.

  • @Fluffypopcicle he is way beyond me.. I'll give him that. But my ear doesn't like his note choice. I like composers over technicians and Rusty is boring to me in that area is all.

  • @highintel

i don't like some of his note choices either (specifically on the butcher), but there are hose rusty cooley moments with the phenomenal, well thought melodies and great use of the tremolo that just give me chills. rusty isn't fr everybody though, he is very... extreme lol.

  • @Fluffypopcicle I'll have to give him another chance then... I honestly haven't heard that much other than what was up on the tube about 3 or 4 years ago..I might have just heard all his boring stuff..hehe Maybe I just don't want to believe a Guy that fast is musical too...lmao...kidding.. What solos you like best? I'll check them out.

  • @highintel

the grey tide solo is my favorite. the part where it actually gets to the solo of course, not the annoying part before which drags on forever. i also like the solo he did for austrian death machine, dark matter, and song for jazzmine.

  • i stopped it at 1:07

  • @abc123gpl most girls do ;0

  • Tremendous guitarist. He made a very good cover of Gary Moore's "Parisienne Walkways", which was the first time i ever heard of him.

  • This guy is great, how can I get in touch with him??

  • @mr10169michael he actually wrote me back from Myspace a few times.. I am sure it is him for he is not a superstar. Tell him I sent ya!

    peace

  • Hey guys where can i download mattsson's discography? please help. ive got no money left to buy his albums.

  • Maybe the best guitarrist, but not even hadly the best musician. I would like to listen him playing alone without such crappy backtrack.

  • I CANT FIND THE EXCITER GUITAR TAB OR SCORE IN GOOGLE..... CAN SOMEONE SAY WHERE I CAN FIND IT??????

  • hardly

  • I've been thinking on this point a lot - so called best guitarist in the world. I don't think that anyone can actually put a title on any one guitarist as the best, by any way other than opinion. For example, I was listening to Jeff Beck today, and while he may not be able to put out fantastic riffs like this guy, or Satriani, etc., he is very, very good, and there are not many people that can match his tone/style.

    Something to think on.

Ps Doubt Petrucci or BH would have trouble with those. :P

  • Your comment is not too far off...This gut is as good as they come...Me too...only on the fiddle

  • He's amazing. it's a shame he's not more well known. the thing is, I didn't even actually hear of him by any of hiis albums.. I found out who he was when he played on Jason Becker's tribute album

  • Maybe it's the Mullets he seems to sport in most of the pix?

Seriously though, this guy's technique is almost off the chart, very impressive

It's the clean stuff at 3:20 to 4:15 that most impresses me though, excellent!

  • Outstanding player. Although he is highly technical I think that a little more vibrato and bends would make his style even better. It's a shame for players of this caliber to be lost in the shadows without the recognition they deserve.

  • After 20 seconds of this I was distracted by all the text accusing me of "wining", so I'll just move on....

  • hell ya this guy is good as shit

  • Nothing new but really good technique and tone. Thanks for sharing.

  • technic awsome

    music shity

  • Lars f**king rules ! I think his music is a lot more interesting that this sample though

  • tab that you'd be there all year lol

  • Everyone has there own option, beit right or wrong. I read that some people think ALDO NOVA is a great.

  • Thank you, It feels good to be understood BTW love the Screen Name.

  • Sounds pretty killer to me.

  • JImi Hendrix and Joe Satriani <3

  • Hendrix was a great guitarist way before his time but stevie ray vaughn's version of little wing abeit sans vocals is vastly superior plus the fact srv used a 11gauge low e string setup. Also I agree this guy is a very good guitarist (i feel somewhat like the direction jason becker was going)but Steve Vai owns him.

  • You are a stupid human mate! SRV was great but nowhere near Hendrix who wrote the stuff he copied. Also listen to Vodoo Chile Slight Return... if you ignore recording quality differences Hendrix total owns SRV ... he really sounds like he "stood right next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand" Definitely some Voddoo going on there.

On topic the Lars guy is really boring ..... super technical not much feel or groove

  • Well I'm sorry you felt the need to belittle me but since you're such an expert on Hendrix I'll ask you this, in what song does SRV ever,EVER get nearly as sloppy as the 12 string work on "Hear my train a comin"? Hendrix was good and that's my opinion just as your's is that I'm stupid.

  • yes it is just opinion so nothing that anyone says matters... I'm sad now :( I wish people would tell the truth, not opinion.

  • Truth is in the eye of the beholder one man's truth is another's lie my point being the only real truths in this world are death and taxes anything else is open to interpretation.

  • Brilliant! and True!

  • Fast isn't always good. Hendrix was the best and always will be

  • As soon as you start comparing guitarist everyone stops listening to you and they start pushing their own opinions on the matter.

If you want to do this guy a favor rename the video.

  • @whatshendrix I did that...and you and everybody else seemed to miss it....lol

    But your here aren't you...hehe

  • And my expectations weren't met. First impressions are all about subtlety ;)

  • Who is Hendrix?

  • damn now this is music 5* =]

  • And the whole point is lost in the endless rhetoric of "my dad can beat up your dad" yet again.

Mission accomplished with the title because it certainly made me click on it. My problem is not the same as others here though because I couldn't give a crap who the best is. I like what I like & form my own introspective opinions & that should be good enough for "me."

Too many feel the need to pound the opinion out of others as a means of self-approval. Not I.

Thanks for posting. Good stuff here.

  • Well put and thought out I commend you!

  • I get a kick out of Alien calling you stupid, completely unaware that to refer to anyone as such is more of indication of the self than others.

"In my opinion" I'll take SRV any time. I was never a Hendrix fan, which is of course not to imply that he wasn't a great guitarist. I just never cared for 1) his sound and 2) his songs.

If it doesn't appeal to my audible pallet then there are no words, buttons, potions, etc. I can read, push or drink that will otherwise change that.

    Thanks and peace.

  • You're welcome, It's a response I get alot from the screen name which is tongue in cheek and a response to all the closed-minded comments of youtube while I consider myself an intellectual I find the word stupid totally misused on here and in daily life is an admission of ignorance much like you stated . Peace

  • this guys pretty good .. thanks for letting me in on this bro

  • Here is the Deal! The title is to expose Mattsson because I bet 90% of you don't know who he is.

The Best "Guitar Player" would be subjectable to style.

The Ultimate Goal as a Musician is to Play what you hear..

VanHalen does this the best.. But.. His ear is not that advanced so it comes down to what he plays..

George Benson plays everything he hears too, but, his lines are Far beyond Vanhalen's.

So, who is better? Depends on which one you relate to.

I personally think George Benson 1986!!

  • Guys like Vai, Satriani, Malmsteen, Becker, Buckethead, Mattsson, Romeo, Petrucci, Friedman, Johnson, etc...are all Extreme masters and Inspiring in a lot of Innovative ways but all are Pre-Meditated players on what I consider a crutch and lack improve skills in a sense that their improv usually results in enharmonic mindless passages (Me too).

Guys like Benson, Joe Pass etc are masters at Improv which is the ultimate achievement.

I have not heard any Genre of guitarist achieve this but Jazz.

  • bla bla bla useless comments, didn't see anywhere about the feeling, these quitarists you mention all seem to lack feeling and focus on techniques ,which are fine for endless conversations among musicians ,but not to the final listener.

To understand my point you should listen to Bill tsamis,Jerry Foggle,Chris De Garmo,Jim Matheos,Terry Gorle,Kenny Powell,Joey Tafolla, and of course Mark Realle...

  • Tafolla....lol Copycat syndrome. I'll check the others out...

don't really see where your coming from though? Benson is feeling and Genius. Pass etc... Master improv.

Your point from what? This or a previous comment?

  • i choose jimi hendrix, but no doubt, this guy is awesome too.... but nothing compared to jimi

  • and Jimmi is nothing compared to George Benson....paper rock scissors.

  • yeah, but the best shredder is Michael Angelo Batio

  • I am sorry to inform you that i disagree with your accusation. Jimmi Hendrix in my book will always be the absolute best guitarist in the world and i LOOVVVEEEE Mattson Metallica Slipknot Impellitri you name it. i listen to every genre and blues is one of my least favorites and jimmi still takes the cake for me for best guitarist. but its all a matter of opinion. jimmi was never fast but his music spoke to me.

  • i agree...fuck everybody that hates!!

    Hendrix is the best

  • My opinon - he is boasting too much. It´s like - look guys, how fast can i play, look at my brilliant technique.. sucks for me, the music is not full enough, i prefer good melodic ideas.

  • This video is a collaboration of all my favorite boasting riffs, so that makes sense.

If this were a song I would think it sucks! But you have to realize that those are the Climax of about 10 different songs so you really cannot form an "Opinion" from this. It's Just enough to see if the guy is worth checking out.

But on your defense, I could mix it up a bit for the more melodic demanding ears.

What kind of people click on the title

"Best Guitarist in the world" anyway?

    Usually Shredders:)

  • i just clicked it because i was interested.

well he just proved to me that he is not worth checking by these few riffs which i think are boring and wihout any interesting musical ideas.

    but heck, my opinion

  • I've never heard this guy before.. I have to admit he's good . Actually very good.

  • He slips between shred and some pretty melodic stuff pretty well. Thanks for posting. Impressive stuff.

  • guys if do you want lars music with feeling listen "The Orchid" from Earthbound :D!!!!! album.

  • Been a fan since 1982!!!

  • not bad, but buckethead is better

  • at what?

  • playing guitar? he is amazing, thx for the comment on my vid he is amazing but i like my choices better.

  • Kool, Mattsson is better for me because his solos are far more difficult for me to play that bucket-heads. Bucket heads solos are systematic and symmetrical so the patterns are easy to memorize, it's all technique after that. Mattson's solo's are just plain impossible for me. Could just be mo though.

As far as how they sound, wel,l you like who you like, I don't blame ya.

Buckethead writes cool stuff!!! Mattsson is a little dated, but I still respect that he is the master at shred to me :)

  • omg, this guy is awsome

  • His playing is so fucking clean

  • son geniales que maestria

  • alexi is also the best guitarist

  • that*

  • What's the name of thay music?

  • This guy is awesome. Thanks for the vid. This guy needs more exposure for sure.

  • Thank you! About time someone gets the purpose of this video :)

  • If had another 100 years in life to study guitar, I'd never get as good as guys like him. I suck. lol

  • a lot of the stuff he plays are technical, sure i've heard better but he's better than me.

  • boring...

  • This dudes is a little more than just typical..Granted he does sound like he belongs

on the shrapnel guitar label from the 80's..There's

some melody going on in between lines..Need to hear something else by him..

  • No.Seriously he sounds like every other carbon copy now a days.

  • i wanna suck his dick

  • @qepedopo faggot

  • >.>

    I've heard alot better.

And that's NOT including already labeled guitarists.

He doesn't sound much different then and of the local Garage bands now days... Far from untouchable technique.

  • oh my god the best Guitar player

  • Eric Mattson? Oh my god, NO

  • 3:55-4:00 fucking insane

  • Yeah, I am gonna have to go with what a lot of people are saying and agree that most of what this guy does here is just boring speed. Composition and musicality count over technique every day of the week, or at least be interesting. This mostly speedy scales over generic "heavy" music. The best part is when he slows down and does a little variation. This is skill, not talent.

  • Maybe the title should be the most Skilled Guitarist then?.... interesting.

Remember, I am not claiming that he is the best Composer, but as a guitar player, his technique is untouchable, in the Shred Genre.

At least from what I have heard out there.

Just trying to help Mattsson get a little exposure, and from the ones that appreciate it,

    Your WELCOME!,

that made the video all worth it to me.

  • LOL, its all just blazing speed and scales up and down the neck. This is isnt music, this is called " Warmup excercises " .

  • By the way, anyone know the name of the song that starts at 3:21? I'd quite seriously like to buy it.

  • Oh sweet Jesus, I just cannot get enough of that clean section that starts at 3:21!

  • come on man! best guitarist in the world?! you must be on crack dude, he plays fast, yes, but he got no felling or variation to it. you must get brain fucked if you liste to this in more than 10 min.

  • pretty sure my friend Cory Willet could put this guy to shame...

  • wow good for you man. you must be so proud of your friend. keep up the good work stray bullet

  • should post a video of him sir and share the skills.

  • He is a GOD, but in my opinion John Petrucci is better than Mattsson

  • All these greatest guitarist play the same style..endless scales, no body sounds different...Please somebody just jam..

  • Sounds like a synth, no soul its garbage,NEXT HERO PLEASE.

  • dumb fools he aint sweeping hes alternate picking those suckers!!!! Try playing those sweeps you play faster with alternate picking.....good luck!!

  • I love guitar and see both sides of the argument.

I think this song sucks, but I can see how tech it is. I couldn't play this for shit!

I don't think it's as heart felt as some music, but everyone has different tastes i guess ;o

  • Your right! That's why the title is Best Guitarist and not Best Musician.. There is a difference. The guitar is just a tool to play music, how good you are at composing and improvising can attribute to any instrument. I agree with you in that I don't feel a lot of feeling in his writing, but his technique is something all melodic and soulful musicians could admire and possibly use.

He is the best as far as his technique is flawless...noted his vibrato is not my favorite but it's his own sound.

  • no feeling

  • What is all this about feeling? What do you mean by it, and how can you tell? Is it w=if its shit, its got feeling, and if is pure perfect genius there's no feeling? Help me out here.

  • just cuz its the hardest thing 2 play duznt mean its got emotion... listen 2 orion...

    AND THAT GOES 4 EVRY1

    ORION 4 LLIIIFEE

  • lmfao search for the solo on fermented offal discharge, now theres some technical music with feeling, and also, I can bet must guitarists put they're heart and soul into most of what they write, saying it has no feeling is an insult, feeling doesn;t just mean long notes and and clean guitar as most people seem to think =/

  • homg bo one word jeremi...

  • Sorry but do you fancy speaking english?

I have no clue what you're trying to say to me here

  • YES!

    Necrophagist man!

Killer solos. Muhammed Suicmez is my favorite guitarist. So much feeling in his solos. The arrangements are nothing short of genius. A death metal god.

  • trueeeee

  • Without doubt "EarthBound" my Favorite album =D!!!!!!!

  • im all rap and hip hop and my perspective of this musician is that this is really good. all the solos are attracting cause of how clean the arpeggios are. you can really set the tone of a song with a guitar solo like this. good job dude.

  • Then lets hear your brilliant compositions and virtuosity in your solos.

    Enough talk! Lets hear it!

Video response only please. I am sick of you little baby ignorant guitarist's. You get so big in your little heads that you start thinking your good yourself.

Well, here is your chance. Let's see how good you really are.

I will accept any video response you send so no excuses bub.

    Lets have it!

  • this music suck .. and if ure a musician u know why

  • whats this song called?

  • "Heart Of A Clown" from the Dream Child album (2008).

  • oops, sorry, i wrote this answer here instead of 2 comments lower by mistake, sorrrrry!

  • supermario song

  • Its the sound most clean that i heard in my life, those arpeggios kick asses:D!!!!!!

  • WOW I've never heard of this guy but he is KING

  • Faraz Anwar - Autumn Madness (Instrumental) [ LIVE ] (Guitar Idol

  • wow he is GOOD

  • wow!

  • He is a true artist and a genius as well.

  • I must say, this fellow is definitely underrated. I've never heard of him before but I am impressed with his capabilities.

  • 3:37 and 3:56 those riffs are as smooth as it gets. Sorry Buckethead, Cooley, and what not fans, this guy tops all ya with technique, the rest is all opinion anyway, that's why you have a Buddy Guy comment down there. (lol)

I like peas ,I like Green beans, bla bla bla. Just listen and be thankfull your not deaf you babies.

  • I have the dream child album but not with me T_T

    thanks for the upload

  • Truly inspiring album! I'm not big on the Lyrics (not that they are bad I just like instrumental music better) but the playing is worth it!

  • i am ur fan yor very best player please check out this gay Faraz Anwar - Autumn Madness (Instrumental) [ LIVE ] he is from pakistan their is no respest for guitarist in pakistan countary

  • Buddy Guy can do this with his eyes closed.

  • I hope the same! No prob!

  • what song is that
