My high school girlfriend joined this group. We grew up in the hippy era from functionally alcoholic homes, looking for things that were missing. My life revolved around Laguna Canyon and the drug scene and LSD, and she went off to India to look for herself. I got help from Adult Children of Alcoholics and my church and 40 years later she is still addicted to this group and hasn't grown up. The 60's were a bunch of kids that grew up very Hedonistic which was very bad.
Church is your LSD . You feel as a Messiah, but it is only your dream, wake up man. Sannyas is not about drugs, or alcoholism. I know many people who meditate, hundreds of people, but nobody can fall into hell as drugs, christianity or any kind of possesion. Meditation is non-possesion .
People afraid of becoming mad, because they are mad. Only healthly people have no problem to be mad, because they are behind it.
Was all very interesting for a while, sort of a desperation for a generation of people who could see drugs just weren't cutting it but this is just another drug.
Rajneesh was an brilliant entrepreneur with a tremendous array of therapies that really appealed to that generation. And for those of you who doubt what I write consider for a moment how it was that the Germans managed to take the whole deal over ?? It's run more like a commercial venture than ever even to this day.

Since both community were from the same era, people often gets confused, as in the 90's after osho was deported back to India, many disciples were mistakenly considered hippies. Also, bec of the nature of the appearance of the disiples and media around the globe, many hippies travelled to India but not to Pune where Osho had his commune but to the other parts in India.
I am going to be very honest with you vrsred. I have seen a rise in people trying to follow other people for happiness since the 60's. I have also studied prophecy since I first read Hal Lindsey's Late Great Planet Earth in the early 70's.. I have watched things fall in place since then. It all hinges on, is Christ risen from the dead, and if so, when will he return. My Mantra is Christ and it didn't cost me a thing.

Two of the essential things to keep in mind about Osho's teaching:
(1) It's group-process orientated.
(2) Group proceses are only good for the 1 out of 3 people . . . that group processes are good for.

I grew up in an alcoholic/dysfunctional family and got help (enlightened).. And it's rare that people fool me anymore. In 1970 I had someone ask me if I wanted to go to India with this group, and I am glad that I said 'no'.

@1Lansing1 There is some confusion regarding OSHO's disiples and Hippy community. Since both community were from the same era, people often gets confused, as in the 90's after osho was deported back to India, many disciples were mistakenly considered hippies. Also, bec of the nature of the appearance of the disiples and media around the globe, many hippies travelled to India but not to Pune where Osho had his commune but to the other parts in India.

I am going to be very honest with you vrsred. I have seen a rise in people trying to follow other people for happiness since the 60's. I have also studied prophecy since I first read Hal Lindsey's Late Great Planet Earth in the early 70's.. I have watched things fall in place since then. It all hinges on, is Christ risen from the dead, and if so, when will he return. My Mantra is Christ and it didn't cost me a thing.
The group I like is YWAM Mercy Ships.org I spent some time with them.

ppl r going in bar bcz they become free from the responsibilities of society...similar is happening here....by the wish of god i feel happy ,sad , angry , kidy, etc all the feelings which make me human....and only need to accept it ...v shd work responsibly for humanity as wish of god...

I only learned about OSHO a few months ago. I read some of his Zen books and started practicing meditation.

Well, I don't mean something went wrong with Osho himself, but the things that went on around him were..... Well, lets not use the word wrong, lets just say that they created a lot of unnecessary confusion and suffering. And the Klashnikov's??? I love Osho also. He did great work, but that doesn't excuse the bullshit that went on around him. Bullshit in the name of truth.

I first met Bhagwan/Osho since 1976, and am still with him in my heart, even though his body is no longer with us. And there has never been a shadow of a doubt in me - that nothing went wrong : )
