Pat Kenny is still top of RTE pay league -- despite loss of €250,000 need i say anymore my source is the Independant paper he is the most arrogant man he doesnt care about any1 HE IS PAID TO CARE.
its really not fair how us irish were treated ,we were robbed the bankers should be all set out in line in front on a firing squad, it may sound a bit over the top but think of all the misery and suffering we had to to go through because of them
The SIPTU boss presumed that Kenny has an enormous house just because he's rich.
That's a bit like some arrogant poshie like me making a throwaway remark about (for example) Fatima Mansions to a tradesman just because of his working-class accent.
"wealthy people can hide their wealth". Good lord, I can't stand socialist crap like that. Private wealth is a precious thing and what makes people feel entitled to someone else's property bewilders me.
jackie o'conner, gets a public pension. all public servants get pension contributionss. someone inpunlic sector on 100grand is radically better off than their private conterpart.Pensions are the biggest financial burden on millions of private sector workers. you can earn up to 50percent of pay as a pension when you retire from the pub.sect., think about howmuch you have to set aside working in the private sector. of course,TDs+ even trade unions,as pubsec have no experience of this harsh reality
@hurlinboy i love youtube for the comments, its great .. but if you make a comment like that please get your facts right, i work in the public service frontline,im on 35k a year,im grateful for my job... i pay a pension levy and pension contribution to 150 euro a week, when i retire in 25 more years ,i will get a pension worth 20k a year, this includes the state pension,. remember all public servants are not on100k a year TDs.
@hurlinboy ,,, get your facts correct first MR hurlinboy ,,, Public sector workers pay pension contributions , not GET them as you say , Secondly i work in the public sector and i dont earn 100 grand a year , and i wont get 50 % of my pay as a pension , Might i remind you that it wasnt the public sector workers who caused the recession , I think you would need to look at the bankers , developers etc
@1tomdooley "Might I remind you, it wasn't the public sector workers who caused the recession . . " - That ignorant remark just typlifies the public sector mentality in Ireland. The public sector Gravy train in Ireland is over, and thats the best thing to come from this crisis. The croke park agreement will make the savings and then the Gov will quite rightly take a long overdue scalpel to it and cut the wasters out. The public sector and their vested interests ruined this country.
@Tonyo1221 And your a tool for sidestepping his very relevant comment, public sector didnt cause this, you along with everyone in ireland have been benefiting from the services you recieve from the public sector and now when the shits hit the fan you blame them for ruining the country, the people who ruined europe and the rest of the world are these gambling bankers who gamble in unsafe investments, loans, bonds etc etc with your money. Its the bankers gravy train that needs stopping sunshine.
@dANNNimal I disagree slightly. The public sector, and individuals in some sectors are a COMPLETE waste of money. FÁS spent 1 million trying to sack an individual last week. ONE PERSON. And they finally paid him off. Even he thought it was nuts. Thats the current state of our public sector. Thats real life. Thats our home. Never mind the rest of the world.
He has a beard what more can I say. He is an ignorant man who has a house that is bigger than Pat Kenny's. Who is he kidding. Union leaders are parasites with their €130,000 a year job. You dont see them taking a pay cut or going on strike.
Pat Kenny's unjustifiable salary is possible because of ordinary taxpayers money. RTE is funded by both private ad revenue and tax money (via TV Licence). It should be one or the other, not both. It's what makes RTE the bloated, unimaginative, political and nepotistic organisation that it is.
Whatever he earns its nothing all here wouldnt welcome. If he is in a position to earn and keep so what. The fact is he has something, knows something and is something most are not. He has a trophy house and he reacted bad to the comment, but he gets it every day from people who are not in his position but would gladly take it in a second. Im not a fan of PK but most people who really get ahead in Ireland put themselves in the line of fire from the less well to do.
Kenny works 11 hours a week with 3 months holidays thrown in which gives him over €800,000 a year, who the fuck decided to give him his Grotesque salary, its obscene
@mickser101 admittedly kenny's salary is exorbitant , but
1.) To assert he works 11 hours a week is ludicrous , please don't tell me you think he actually just sits into his seat every morning , does the show and goes home.
2.) He earns closer to 650,000 euro a year.
What's obscene is your clear disregard for factual information.
Jack O Connor is a little creep, truth be told his house is nicer than pat`s, i think thats why pat was pissed. Pat does live in Killiney but his house is nothing special.
Can I just say, Pat Kenny's salary isn't "just under a million", it's €630,000 p/a, which is still a huge amount admittedly, but people should at least get their figures right before attacking him.
Plus, Jack O'Connor's salary is €124,000 p/a, so he's hardly entitled to take the moral highground on trophy houses, and can empathise no more than Kenny with the people who are affected by the recession the most.
Pat Kenny .. very sensitive about his Trophy House.. errr row with his neighbours !! For a man that is paid nearly a million Euro by RTE which is funded by licence payers including me a Civil and Public Servant to react like that .. must have touched a nerve.. Anyway his buddies in Government are going to sell RTE off ..
its so annoying for pat kenny, marian fanucan and other rte elites complaining and sympathising with real sufferers of this recession like for example i heard pat kenny recently go on a rant about how public sector wages might be going down and he's nearly getting a million a year. absolute hypocrits! you can understand a doctor or lawyer earning lots cause they studied hard and work hard jobs but what hard labour does pat kenny actually do to earn this kind of money????
It was crap. He said what a trophy house and made a ridiculous example of Pat's house. Everyone can see, the the people who are sore are the fudging trade unions. Waste of time and just plain noise makers. Sure they have a place and do an important job, but that doesn't mean they have to be so ignorant
the thing is, that these RTE showboaters earn such obscene amounts of money takes from their credibility. License fee payers pay their wages and should demand a pay cap. If Pat & co dont like it, there are a thousand others who could (equally competently) do the job for a fiifth of the price!!!!!
Jack O' Connor is sticking up for all us Irish people who are suffering through this recession while Pat Kenny is Earning thousands of euro a week for doing nothing. Jack O'Connor is one of the reasons we have good wage levels and good working conditions in this country. You people sticking up for Pat make me sick!!!!!
@BeanyAye Earning thousands for doing nothing? Putting himself out there on hours of live TV and radio every week often taking in nearly 50% of TV viewers in the hole country.... up for ridicule and abuse, no privacy.... the reason you think he "does nothing" is because he makes it look like nothing because he's one of the best in the country at it.... you try it
Did you see how quick he was to react when he was mentioned in having one of these "Trophy houses" but if he wasn't mentioned he'd be sitting there in agreement, albeit being a hipocrit at the same time!! Rediculous!
fair play to jack o connor , the truth hurts. he's right, the rich should pay more not the ordinary private/public income earner. the level of spin from the media on this matter is mind boggling.
THE RICH ALREADY DO PAY MORE! c'mon man. Do some homework! The wealthy already pay a majority of the nations taxes! Don't punish the producers! Reward them with lower taxes and they are going to be reward the country with more businesses and more jobs!
For the sake of overall workers rights and pay rates, the private sector need the public sector to hold fast. Don't be suckered into carrying the can again as PAYE tax payers did in the 80's
Why is it that 99% of union folk have beards? They are as behind the times with their hair do's as they are with reality... Another shower good at getting a different deal for you than what the get themselves! ..truth???
Jack o connor is so out of touch. he talks of an alternative to making up the 4 billion needed but when asked to expand on it turns out there's no substance to his argument. Then he goes on about the 7 percent already taken as if it's the worst thing that could happen while in this current climate (which happens to be the biggest downturn in the history of the state). Get real would you..200,000 or so added to the live register in the last year. how many public/civil workers included there??
lack of Substance? Did you miss what he said??? Lift cap on prsi payments, and move top band of tax to 50%. Whether you agree with him or not, your being entirely disengenuous. Get real. Fianna fail were the guys who shied away from tackling the unions back in the day. Unions haggle for the best deal for their members. thats the point of a union. The govt completely failed to deliver for the taxpayer. You're blaming the unions for the govts utter laziness.
I know, exactly, that's just what I thought efore reading your comment. This show is absolutely hilarious. And this little misdemeanor was only a warm up for what was to come the following week!!!!!!
Pat asked for an example of a Trophy House , Jack gave it to Pat, Pat felt stupid , got angry and sore. Pat asked for it and thanks to Jack he got his answer. No need for Jack to apologise . If you ask questions expect to get answers some you may not like.
pat did put him in his place, i dont think the union man meant to cause offence. flippant remark blown up but you can see why kenny lost it. union fella looked like a bumbling bufoon there. nervous more than anything
For once I saw Kenny doing something good in an interview. O'Connor is talking through jis backside and just giving soundbites that may appeal to that hysterical group think they are owed something by those who have worked to make something of themselves. While I do agree that some RTE 'stars' may be overpayed I would ask is there anyone out there who would refuse their salaries if they got a chance? Wopuld O'Connor and his like say 'no, no you are payimng me too much'?
It's obvious that Jack O'Connor was nervous and failed miserably at an attempt to inject some sort of humour in to the situation. Pat, as a supposedly professional interviewer, should have recognised this and passed it off in the humour that it was meant and could have quite easily moved on rather than take the approach that he did.
Jack O'Connor did apologise for the remark when he realised that Pat didn't share the 'humour' of his comment and (Un)Professional Pat should have acknowledged this
Pat does earn too much and Jack was right to say so but at the same time Jack O' Connor earns €130,000 a year. Jack made a show of himself on national TV, but behind him there are real people who are struggling and angry, the unions need new leadership. A leadership of people who can relate to the people they represent. Pat did build his house in 1988 but he still built it on the seafront in Dalkey.
The figure in the Tribune on sunday was €120,000. Listening to Jack on Friday the man was brilliant, he said it as it is, that it is not about public versus private but about getting the top 5% to own 40% of the wealth to pay their share and take a fair share of the burden.
Jack O Connor's arguments were purile here. His arguments in the context of the whole show were utterly contradictory. Complenting him for a cheap dig at a broadcaster is futile. His bearded arrogance here is revolting.
I don't see what relevance the year of the construction of PK's house has to determining whether or not it's a 'trophy house'- the houses in Ailesbury Road are trophy houses and were built a LONG time ago. Age of the hosue is not of any relevance. Having said that, I think JO'C made a very weak showing on the programme.
Good man pat! Beats Tuberty by a long shot, he's not afraid to ask questions, thats why the late late has become a bit boring when compared 2 Johnathen Ross on BBC.
WELL DONE JACK O CONNOR!! About time somebody put those RTE big-earners in their place. They shouldn't get so much when it is tax-payers money. Kenny goes mental when he is told the truth. Priceless
To be fair Jack obviously forgot how sensitive Pat was to his house given the recent court case. The apology was genuine and I think Pat when he cooled down realised it. O Connor isn't a cheap shot offensive individual and to be fair he is protecting low earners which is more can be said for most of the other unions who are protecting hight earners
Pat Kenny is still top of RTE pay league -- despite loss of €250,000 need i say anymore my source is the Independant paper he is the most arrogant man he doesnt care about any1 HE IS PAID TO CARE.

He looked like he meant it as a joke. It certainly seemed to come across that way to some of the audience...

Generally the ones who can't spell aren't union members they wouldn't be able to fill in the forms and spell how they speak "loike so oh my god"

What is a "beird"?

You might consider using CAPITALS in that case and further punctuation.
