  • I like the idea of a roots type. It does give more tq at low rpm but spinning is all based on the tires, suspension, and gearing. In a 1/8 or 1/4 mile you want to get from point to point as fast as possible. That's why tq is so important. It gets the car moving. Check out the top fuel dragsters and funny cars. There alcohol injected roots or screw blown engines.

  • I need help. I have a 95 TA, haven't done anything, completely stock except for a cold air intake thats sitting in a box, but i wanted to get a supercharger for not too cheap, not too expensive. . . any recommendations?

  • maybe a vortech S/C. they go for around $4000 and put out good power. a procharger goes for $5000+ . but a S/C is kind of the last thing you want to put on your car. put full boltons before you try to put on a Supercharger. well you can but you will be on like low low boost and run chance of blowing your engine very quick.

  • Dude. Just go for a heads/cam swap. Maybe bore it out. Think about a 383 stroker. there's easier way to make much more than the 415 rwhp. than this video.

  • yes!! mine had straight headers for a bit.

  • Thats because of the type of supercharger. Only thing that fits on a LT1 F body is centrifigul type (Procharger or Vortech). They dont have a loud wine like a screw or roots type which is what a whipple or eaton (magnuson) is.

  • There is one guy on here that did a custom roots charger on the lt1 in a f body. Everything was custom made and fit well but i dont think its worth it in the long run. Its great creativity and fabrication work though.

  • I got a question for you. Do you actually approve of roots style superchargers in v8 cars? For example a camaro, doesnt the engine need more top end power? Cause ading alot of bottom end power will just increase the spin wouldnt it?

  • my LS1 '69 made 452 rwhp & 425 rwtq before the ported Fast 90/90 Intake. So it's probably running 470-480 rwhp right now. The T/A in this video made 415/415 to the wheels. The new owner of this TA is building an Iron 420 LS motor with 15# D1 Blower. It should be making easy 700-800 hp with the new setup.

  • ROH Wheels, ZS I think. 17 x 8.5 which I had chromed. The guy who bought this car from me is selling them. The Blower was around $5K Cdn, that was about 10 years ago now.

  • i cant believe you ran a supercharger on a stock motor and it lasted that long. did you ever get metal shavings in the oil? the guy before me had a blower on his LT1 for over 50k miles. Now im getting bearing material in the oil. I bet the bearings are paper thin.

  • This was 415 REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER Measured on the Dyno = ~480 Crank HP. I also did the Supercharger on this car about 10 Years ago. The motor was a bone stock LT1. So for 1998 it ran well.

  • This car's best time many years ago was a 12.6 @ 115mph on street tires with a crappy 60ft. It was SOLD about 3 years ago.

  • It had Edelbrock 1-5/8" shorty headers & Y-pipe, !cat and a Hooker cat back system.

  • You were definitely losing hp on the top with those shorties, esp boosting 8 psi. My own LTx has the P600B as well, the thing can't keep up for squat though, going to need to upgrade very soon or I will be forever doomed to be stuck between 500-600horse lol.

  • It was an ATI P600B with 8 PSI, motor was internally stock LT1 w/ 1.6 RR and full bolt-ons. Made 415 rwhp/rwtq
