I am actually shocked that AI did this song, but given the event -- and the fact that several of Season 7 singers have hearts open to gospel & worship music...am ok with it. 3-4 stick out like sore thumbs (was more about them than God)... Season 8 there were even more with a heart for God. Good to see. First year I've gone to AI Summer Concert (09).

I don't really like this version as much as the one that they did on the shpw. On the show David Cook had more shouting parts which I really loved An lso I didn't like that one part at the end of some of the chorus' where they have like five different people overlapping the other idols. But I love the part where Carly hold out that one big note around 3:15, 3:11 when David Cook is holding out that one long note,and the partaround 4:00 when Syesha holds out a long note they all give me goosebumps

I do like Carly and I saw the live tour and her voice is really good. She can sing Heart(!!!)and NOBODY else can besides the original (the fabulous Ann Wilson). But Carly oversings and doesn't use good judgment. That is why she didn't ever make it with the last record deal or now either. She needs to find herself musically. I hope that she does.

I didn't just realize it now. I knew from the audition that David Cook had a superior voice... I am a vocal coach. DC has the most unusually brilliant voice - that's an easy one.

Dramatic tenors don't grow on trees; lyric tenors do. Nothing against lyric voices... I am a lyric soprano. Sinatra was a lyric baritone. Lyric voices are very sweet and pure. But DC's is RADICAL, HUGE, and has CRAZY RESONANCE. It spins and shimmers. It is one in a billion.

actually nothing compares to the sheer beauty and power of David Cook's voice which is why on the live show they had him DEAD CENTER and hitting the "money" notes.

They were all pretty good, especially Sy and DA, but Carly just oversings everything. Great pipes but no taste whatsoever.

Rod - those were my favorites too. They do possess the most amazing pipes. But I think DA does with his voice a lot better than Carly; so at the end I guess the two best were, for me, the Davids. In the live show it was clear why those two were last. But it was also clear why D COOK won!!! My b.f. who never watched the show and was sick of hearing about DC, said however that Cook was a lot better than DA. I was trying to defend Archie but he said no comparison.
