Read through the comments here and notice how seldom Jesus is mentioned. This is one reason I left the Pentecostal church many years ago. The Holy Spirit was given to GLORIFY Jesus not the other way around.

The Bible CLEARLY states that tongues is simply another language. The gift of tongues is given by the Holy Spirit in circumstances where there is a language barrier preventing the gospel from being preached. It is not gibberish. The gift of tongues is simply the ability to speak in a foreign language previously not known to you. You will also notice that the gift was not permanent. It was given when needed or when God deemed it necessary. It is not something we do on command during a church service. Besides, it has to be a legitimate language.

My belief is that the gift of speaking in tongues recorded in Acts was just for that time. King Solomon was given the opportunity to ask for one gift or blessing from the Lord, and he chose properly, wisdom. Anyone touched by God is transformed into a new creation. The Bible CLEARLY states that tongues is simply another language. The gift of tongues is given by the Holy Spirit in circumstances where there is a language barrier preventing the gospel from being preached. It is not gibberish. The gift of tongues is simply the ability to speak in a foreign language previously not known to you. You will also notice that the gift was not permanent. It was given when needed or when God deemed it necessary. It is not something we do on command during a church service. Besides, it has to be a legitimate language.

Some examples are in Exodus 15:20-21 says Miriam and all the woman took timbrals and dances and worshiped the Lord because he hath triumphed gloriously. The reaction from most there was astonishment that they could understand the GOSPEL in their language. Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the only way to atone for your sins. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice because He lived a life without sin and died for you. This is not fake, it's real. If you only knew what it felt like to have God witin you. All people are born into sin, that doesnt make an infant a sinner. You are misunderstanding. Things you do everyday weither you realize it or not, are you continually sinning. You may not even know you're sinning but we all do. You must repent daily and be baptized in Jesus name. When you repent, God is forgiving. You repent for you sins or wrongful doings. God is forgiving!

@thosialg08 You say that, because you havnt experienced the Anointing of God. People were also called drunk on the day of Pentecost, Acts 2 when the Holy Ghost was first poured out. Trust me, ive been in this my whole life and have had this experience. I would never delibertly put myself ina crowd and do that. There is a joy and peace that may seem funny on the outside, but its a spiritual unexplainable high on the inside. Dont knock God, if you KNOW for sure yourself. God bless

@ixtoc999 Thats the problem, too many people are too conserned on how they look. Praise God that they arent, they didnt miss their blessing because of it. Yes God has more to do and give, but Hes and everlasting God and we dont work on our time. We are in His control, and He can choose what and when to do it. Everything dont have to make sense in our eyes. Its all up to HIM! :-)

I Corinthians 6:10 says that drunkards will not inherit the Kingdom of God...but, if you are a Christian who is filled with the Holy Spirit you will act like a drunkard? I thought Christianity was about being different than the world, not looking or acting like those whom are destined for hell...just my thoughts.

@rain4325 I check out Acts Chapter 2 but it just didn't seem to rationally explain what was happening here. I looked further and seen it is a state of hypnosis called "Glossolalia". It's found in other religions and spiritual groups as well including Paganism, Shamanism, and other mediumistic religious practices. Even Voodoo.
It's still a little disturbing to see young people loose control like this. Like watching children getting drunk.

@heckfricker You are right, it's probably purely a carnal event. The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, meekness, kindness and self-control. A good number of those fruits are not in evidence in this kind of display. I don't see peace and I don't see self-control.
