@RickMojave Marriage is not just a religious thing, if it were atheists wouldn't care about getting married. If you don't see the point of marriage and don't see the point then you don't get it.
human rights should not be left to popular vote. it is the governments job to make sure everyone has teh same rights. idc if 95% of pepole were against it, it doesnt fucking matter. if you left segregation and slavery to a popular state vote the south would still have both. its disgusting to see people who enjoy rights try to keep others from getting them as well.
I concur. If we allow homosexuals to marry, we must also allow marriage between humans and animals because animals have all the same legal standing as a human and deserve the same rights. We would also have to allow marriage between pedophiles because children are totally old enough to make that decision and according to all studies done, homosexuals are always pedophiles so they're essentially one in that same. ;^)
@GinnyStoleMyMan i hope this is a joke my friend, cuz by comparing homosexuals to animals and pedophiles you demonstrate not only your fallacy filled ignorance, but your hateful side as well. if it is a joke then i apologize for not getting it, if its a serious statment your an intellectual ant and i would love to break down your bigotted bullshit argument.
@SelfAware1 I don't blame you. If I wasn't kidding I'd probably deserve to have my skull cracked open just so you could see I had just a little bit of a brain.
@GinnyStoleMyMan Wrong! All of those things you mention are classified as disorders by the mental health community. Homosexuality, on the other hand, was removed from the list of disorders by organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association decades ago. No respectable mental health professional would agree with what you said. And homosexuals being pedophiles? Are you fucking serious? What are you, from Uganda or something? What a mindless and unsympathetic assertion.
@misterzonker2584 Satire: Interesting thing. I'm a civil rights activist. The comment I left was left in irony and is pretty much the polar opposite of what I believe. I don't think there's a person I live who is seriously that stupid.
@GinnyStoleMyMan My mistake, but my reaction was indeed based on the knowledge that there really are people who are that stupid. Recently a show called Vanguard did an episode called "Missionaries of Hate" detailing the attempts by Christian extremists to make homosexuality a crime punishable by death. Look up Pastor Martin Ssemper and you will see just how close his assertions come to your satire. It's bone-chilling. What you say as a joke is really what other some other people think.
@misterzonker2584 Heh. No problem. Easy mistake to make when you don't have a tone to match the commentary with.
I can't decide if I'm afraid of people who really think stuff like this, or if I find them funny. I think the line is crossed when they take it to the streets. The misinformation is honestly laughable but the fact that they have the ability to convince others... not a good thing.
@GinnyStoleMyMan For good measure, you can look up Evangelical preacher Scott Lively, who was also on that episode supporting the anti-homosexuality bill, and hear him spout off about a "gay Nazi takeover" of the US military in regard to repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Oh yes, they're out there.
LOL that was hilarious. I think he was trying to show that opposing homosexuality is stupid without the Christians saying he's siding with them.
I love gays. I don't understand why they can't get married. I don't understand why they're not liked. Granted, it's a bit weird. I felt strange first time having a sleepover with my lesbian friend who had a crush on me... but that was when I was a kid. Are people really that immature still?
marriage should have no place in the Government in the first place. It is for all a religious ceremony. But, the United States is a country built on the idea of "Freedom from Religion". So, therefore, we should allow the church that is performing the ceremony to decide weather or not they will marry two people of the same sex.
@shadess7 your right. heterosexual bias in law creating is like white bias in law creating its all bullshit. these religious wackos were the same ones screaming to keep segregation and slavery!
@shadess7 you do know this is a sarcastic show right? he satires subjects to show attention to them. Even if someone laughs at his jokes they still hear "gay marriage"
@shadess7 Marriage is a constitution. A marriage between man and woman. Its been that way for generations. Even if God did not make marriage, it has still be frowned upon since the beginning of time. And it has NOTHING to do with barbaric methods and religious nut jobs. Its because The Laws of moral tell us what is right and wrong. And if it was wrong all those years ago, it must still be wrong. I dont hate gay people, I fully support your choice. Yep, I said choice, sue me
@IBANEZBB103 Same with slavery, oh it was okay years ago. it must still be okay. :/ Your logic doesn't make sense. But true, it is your choice to be discrimitive. yep, i said choice.
@IBANEZBB103 Worst justification of ever. There are tons of things that used to be fine that are definitely not any more. Slavery, racism, sexism, beating children, burning "witch", and the list would not stop there.
@IBANEZBB103 When marriage was created it had noting to with morals. Marriage was about producing a heir and to move up in society. In ancient societies same-sex relationships between two males was extremely accepted. The same could not be said for women because women didn't have the same rights as men. There were also same-sex marriage ceremonies. It's believed that the Emperor Nero had two of these ceremonies. Gay marriage was not legal because there was no social gain.
@shadess7 marriage really is just a religious thing. mating is something different. really, politically, i think marriage is pointless institution anyway. i really don't see what the big deal is. :P
But a human right for which people? What if it's two gay brothers. Why don't they have a human right to marry? What if it's three gay brothers? Is it only a right for two people?
@joshthecartoonguy You know that's a very interesting point. I can't imagine there'd be many brothers who wanted to be in a relationship with each other, and if there were I'd say that there were some problems that needed addressing first. At the same time I can't think of a reason why not, even though it seems wierd. On the triple marriage thing, again it seems odd, but I don't see why not. Polygamy already happens, and works, in some cultures already.
@fatmikecj The thing is though, if we broaden marriage to that point, what does the word marriage mean after that. You'll say I'm married, and if you don't clarify, people won't know if you're married to your brother, two brothers, whatever. I raise the point because for a lot of people, they defend gay marriage by first saying it's a fundamental right, then ignoring other groups of people that might like to have legalized marriage as well. Thank you for the polite response.
You thought wrong. Marriage is about families coming together and arranging their offspring to marry other families offspring so they can take advantage of the beneficial factors of...well...that's marriage. It's a manipulative religious institution.
