As a die hard Mopar fan, I still expected the corvette to win. Vette is lighter and has more power off the show room floor, to the best of my knowledge. And as a die hard Mopar fan, I can honestly say, I really don't even like the new Challengers lol. The one I test drove, drove like a ass heavy tank. My stock 70 challenger drove and handled better.
Disappointing run for the Challenger SRT-8. If I couldn't break 14s in that car I would sell it the next day or take a closer look at my driving abilities. Nice vette to whoever owns it.

@1ownjoo2 hmmm..that vette is a base model LS2, 2006 model year, and cost me $42K, not $76K, you're thinking of a Zo6, and yes, the Challenger was an R/T Hemi V8, and FWIW, the corvette didn't have a stroker engine, it only had mild head milling and a baby camshaft in it, along with exhaust and tune. Maybe you should research before you yap on the internet. I've forgotten more about cars than you'll ever learn.

Mild head milling and an different camshaft, is basicly the same thing as a stroker. A stroker bore's the cylinders head a little bigger and you add a new camshaft for more torque and hp and thats basicly it.... Look up a 408 stroker on you tube... more then a match easily.. and its a Jeep..

@dooformuladlx : well, that's a different ballgame, you're looking at 2 more cyl, and forced induction. Of course, power isn't always everything, just ask Underground Racing, as they had an entire Pass Time episode devoted to them at Zmax, I ran the day before, 11.19 , and most of the 1,000+ hp vipers couldn't even break into low 12's. A TT Lambo barely hit mid 11's that day. It has less to do about power and more to do with the driver.
Milling your heads, is the cheap way to gain HP, i bet you gained around 6% more HP over your stock engine, and your add'd camshaft gave you what. How much HP did you gain, have you run it on a dyno yet ? Im curious... Your crying to me over comparing a bored cylinder to a milled head... You get the same results. You increased your compression to give more power... and you call this a mild mod...

Well, having drag raced for years, and either drove or faced all the cars you two are talking about, I can say that the Jeep , bone stock , will out 60ft and beat them all the the 1/8th mile mark (if they too are stock), In the 1/4, though, the C6 vette is faster than them all, then the Chally, Charger ,and Cobra are about neck and neck, driver depending. The Jeep , stock, will run low 13's, maybe as low as a 13 flat in the 1/4, as will Challys, Chargers,and Cobras.
Corvette's are cool though, an american made super car that has the capability of beating those foreign super cars from Ferrari and Lamborghini. They make up for the Ford GT and the Dodge Viper, but if you have to choose the best muscle car (this is my opinion), the Ford Mustang is the greatest muscle car of all time because of its history and great performance.
Chevy Corvettes are cool but I don't give a shit about camaros.

I call it as I see it. The SRT8's are pos. I'll give the Jeep a thumbs up, it's a damn nice suv, but I highly doubt that it will "destroy" the Terminator Cobras. And the Charger and Challenger are both too heavy and just can't seem to make use of all the power that they make. And if you seem to think that one will shit on whatever I've got, then bring one to Indy, and we'll line them up at ORP. You'd prolly be surprised at how well a car rated at 75 bhp less can keep up.

The Jeep will take a Cobra from a dead start, but by the time you hit the 1/4 mile mark, the Cobra will be ahead. The Jeep's awd system helps it off the line, but ultimately it has too much weight to pull and will get overtaken once moving. Same goes for the C6 Corvette. Those will run low 12's with a decent driver. A stock Jeep SRT8 will do best of about a 13 flat from what I've seen. Although most are going to average 13.1-13.4 et's. And my daily driver is a 2004 GTO M6.
yea GTos are badass but yea just watch a jeep race a cobra stock for stock and ull see what im saying.. those jeeps are heavy but have good torque at high rpms
Once the Cobra gets into it's powerband, it will easily overtake the Jeep, unless it's one of the earlier non-S/C models. The 03-04 models were a bit on the heavy side, but they made good power once you had them wound up. SVT also equipped them with a differential gearset that allowed the engine to get into it's powerband quicker.
Yeah, the Ford purists are a little too cocky about them. But the Terminators weigh in around 3800 lbs. Not sure exactly how muh, but the added weight of th iron block, 4 cam heads, supercharger and heat exchanger, 6 speed tranny, and the irs all add up. The heaviest Mustangs though are the GT500 convertibles. My uncle ordered an '07, and I was surprised when I found it out it weighed around 4200 lbs.

dodge viper acr was quicker around the nurinburg ring than the zr-1 by 4 seconds so yea it can keep up and pass it the top speed is a bit less but on a track your not going to go 208 mph unless its daytona witch is just driving around in a circle

mustang is not that great because it has 315hp n its v8. and the camaro has a 6.2L and has 426hp thats only one more house power than the srt8 and the srt has a 6.1. but im not saying there not nice cars in just saysing the challenger is not a pice of shit. oh and the camaro does 0-60 in 5 sec and the mustang gt does it in about 5.5 so its not really a pice of shit also if u do a rolly out with the challenger it does it a 5.1. and the c6 is like 55 grand that a little over the challengers.

As per Moparguytilidie, an srt8 runs around 13.1 in the 1/4. a stock vette runs 12.3-12.4. so a vette will win. thats just the way it is. A Z06 runs high 11's and the new ZR1 runs low 11,s. low 13's for any stock vehicle is a goos time especially for the cost of a Challanger. Comfortable 4 seater with huge hop up potential. Like I say, buy what you like as you are the one living with it.
I'm not saying the vette wouldn't win anyway because of weight,, but come on the R/T driver had a shitty start, you can hear the Vette raise rpm's for a good launch but the challenger doesn't and he seems to baby it like it hasn't broken in yet.

its ot a regular c6 its modded its in the description, a stock C6 hit the 1/4 mile in 12.8-13.2 and that challengers an R/T with only 360hp. the srt8 challenger however hits the 1/4 mile in 13.1-13.4 stock. either way 2 great cars and no rice involved, just how i like it.
Yeah, you're right. The RT is in the performance realm of a 350z and they have weight issues. They should have used more aluminum alloy throughout this car...the other two American automakers are doing it, guess Chrysler doesn't have the development money. RTs strong points are its look and presence, but it definitely carries its weight well.

Zando...Car and Driver is no gauge as to what these cars can run on real drag strips. They use unprepped road surface from a dead stop with all nannies on to do their 1/4 mile times. The fastes bone stock Z06 C6 is in the high 10's and the fastest bone stock LS3 Vette is in the high 11's .I've heard of a ZR1 hitting 10.6 at 131mph in the 1/4 , so C&D can bite me.
I don't know what the hipe is about the vipers. They cost more than a vette, and ppl that have both say that the viper is a POS. Ppl that work on them say they are a POS, and there are plenty of videos here to prove that stock vs stock, the z06 fucks the viper any way you put it. Do the research!!

Even a base model, stock Vette will run low 12s in the quarter... the challenger never had a chance - you put the same money into the challenger and it *might* keep up for the first half of the track. It's still a heavier car by far.
The stock challenger runs about 13...which is for some reason about the same time the original 70's challengers ran the 1/4 mile lol. So I do agree with you on that...but no stock vette will run low 12's. MAYBE the ZR1...but according to Car and Driver, the Z06 clocked in at 12.8

@dooformuladlx : well, that's a different ballgame, you're looking at 2 more cyl, and forced induction. Of course, power isn't always everything, just ask Underground Racing, as they had an entire Pass Time episode devoted to them at Zmax, I ran the day before, 11.19 , and most of the 1,000+ hp vipers couldn't even break into low 12's. A TT Lambo barely hit mid 11's that day. It has less to do about power and more to do with the driver.

Well, having drag raced for years, and either drove or faced all the cars you two are talking about, I can say that the Jeep , bone stock , will out 60ft and beat them all the the 1/8th mile mark (if they too are stock), In the 1/4, though, the C6 vette is faster than them all, then the Chally, Charger ,and Cobra are about neck and neck, driver depending. The Jeep , stock, will run low 13's, maybe as low as a 13 flat in the 1/4, as will Challys, Chargers,and Cobras.

Corvette's are cool though, an american made super car that has the capability of beating those foreign super cars from Ferrari and Lamborghini. They make up for the Ford GT and the Dodge Viper, but if you have to choose the best muscle car (this is my opinion), the Ford Mustang is the greatest muscle car of all time because of its history and great performance.
Chevy Corvettes are cool but I don't give a shit about camaros.

I call it as I see it. The SRT8's are pos. I'll give the Jeep a thumbs up, it's a damn nice suv, but I highly doubt that it will "destroy" the Terminator Cobras. And the Charger and Challenger are both too heavy and just can't seem to make use of all the power that they make. And if you seem to think that one will shit on whatever I've got, then bring one to Indy, and we'll line them up at ORP. You'd prolly be surprised at how well a car rated at 75 bhp less can keep up.

The Jeep will take a Cobra from a dead start, but by the time you hit the 1/4 mile mark, the Cobra will be ahead. The Jeep's awd system helps it off the line, but ultimately it has too much weight to pull and will get overtaken once moving. Same goes for the C6 Corvette. Those will run low 12's with a decent driver. A stock Jeep SRT8 will do best of about a 13 flat from what I've seen. Although most are going to average 13.1-13.4 et's. And my daily driver is a 2004 GTO M6.

Once the Cobra gets into it's powerband, it will easily overtake the Jeep, unless it's one of the earlier non-S/C models. The 03-04 models were a bit on the heavy side, but they made good power once you had them wound up. SVT also equipped them with a differential gearset that allowed the engine to get into it's powerband quicker.

Yeah, the Ford purists are a little too cocky about them. But the Terminators weigh in around 3800 lbs. Not sure exactly how muh, but the added weight of th iron block, 4 cam heads, supercharger and heat exchanger, 6 speed tranny, and the irs all add up. The heaviest Mustangs though are the GT500 convertibles. My uncle ordered an '07, and I was surprised when I found it out it weighed around 4200 lbs.

never fair in the first place the vette has been tuned and the r/t well is shit the srt-8 would stand a small chance if the vette were stock and the driver had just started to drive a stick shift and screwed up the start im a hard core dodge fan but the vette is much better at acceleration than any challenger to date now get a tuned viper against that vette and then well have a match!

dodge viper acr was quicker around the nurinburg ring than the zr-1 by 4 seconds so yea it can keep up and pass it the top speed is a bit less but on a track your not going to go 208 mph unless its daytona witch is just driving around in a circle

there's not much to calculate...
zr1 = 638 hp and 1508 kg
acr = 600 hp and 1552 kg
and no i didn't find any video about it but i seen an interesting comparision between zr-1 and gtr and then acr and gtr and i gotta say zr-1 dominated there..in acr vs gtr race gtr driver kinda screwed on start tho cus i'm sure gtr accelerate faster then acr..check the video and you'll see what i mean..anyway race ended with acr win with 11.60 over gtr's 11.66...in zr1 vs gtr race zr1 just blew off the gtr..

even i the challenger was the srt8 it still wouldnt have a chance of beating the corvette because the c6 corvette does 0-60 in the mid 4 sec range and the challenger srt8 does 0-60 in 5.5 which is terrible for a car with 425 hp.

mustang is not that great because it has 315hp n its v8. and the camaro has a 6.2L and has 426hp thats only one more house power than the srt8 and the srt has a 6.1. but im not saying there not nice cars in just saysing the challenger is not a pice of shit. oh and the camaro does 0-60 in 5 sec and the mustang gt does it in about 5.5 so its not really a pice of shit also if u do a rolly out with the challenger it does it a 5.1. and the c6 is like 55 grand that a little over the challengers.

As per Moparguytilidie, an srt8 runs around 13.1 in the 1/4. a stock vette runs 12.3-12.4. so a vette will win. thats just the way it is. A Z06 runs high 11's and the new ZR1 runs low 11,s. low 13's for any stock vehicle is a goos time especially for the cost of a Challanger. Comfortable 4 seater with huge hop up potential. Like I say, buy what you like as you are the one living with it.

its ot a regular c6 its modded its in the description, a stock C6 hit the 1/4 mile in 12.8-13.2 and that challengers an R/T with only 360hp. the srt8 challenger however hits the 1/4 mile in 13.1-13.4 stock. either way 2 great cars and no rice involved, just how i like it.

Yeah, you're right. The RT is in the performance realm of a 350z and they have weight issues. They should have used more aluminum alloy throughout this car...the other two American automakers are doing it, guess Chrysler doesn't have the development money. RTs strong points are its look and presence, but it definitely carries its weight well.

Zando...Car and Driver is no gauge as to what these cars can run on real drag strips. They use unprepped road surface from a dead stop with all nannies on to do their 1/4 mile times. The fastes bone stock Z06 C6 is in the high 10's and the fastest bone stock LS3 Vette is in the high 11's .I've heard of a ZR1 hitting 10.6 at 131mph in the 1/4 , so C&D can bite me.

Even a base model, stock Vette will run low 12s in the quarter... the challenger never had a chance - you put the same money into the challenger and it *might* keep up for the first half of the track. It's still a heavier car by far.
