I wonder why they boxed the 5200 with Pac Man. I mean granted the new version was 100 times better than the 2600 version but Pac Man in no way displayed the 5200's abilities. What the fuck were they thinking eh?
The 5200 is a pretty cool system, except that it is physically so large- I never took mine apart, but I bet that it's mostly empty space inside that case. The controllers would break too easily, and I'm still not sure why they put a calculator keypad on them... never saw a game that used those... maybe there were some math learning games or something?
I just got done playing this on my 5200 :)

The Atari 2600 Trak-ball was cool, but the Atari 5200 and its Trak-ball were an ungodly abombination that begs for Apocolypse!

yeah the atari 2600 trackball was sweet, you could even use it on their home computers. I used it on my Atari 600

I like to intentionally let the scorpion poison mushrooms and nail the centipede's nuts when it hits one and drops down.

are you crazy? telstar went out & Atari was new at the time we (my family) only had Joysticks,
either way this was a very hard game
Raymasaki 5 years ago
There actually is a Trak-Ball (not trackball!) for the 2600 and another one for the 5200.
ApolloBoy 5 years ago
hey, nibelung said trackball NOT me
besides trackbal or Track-ball who cares?
Raymasaki 5 years ago
their was no 2600 trakball....only a paddle. the 5200 had a trakball.
ultramudvayne 4 years ago
Yes, there was. Look up "Atari 2600 Trak-Ball" on Google and you'll get a whole bunch of hits. I've even got a 2600 Trak-Ball to prove it.
