Justin is the reason was his career didn't take off, he should have road on the wave of his success after his loss to Kelly. After his lost to her he did that movie and that american idol CD and took a year off. After his lost he should have came out with his CD. And i think he would have been great if he would have switched to R and B.

Things were different back then. After their season, they switched the rules so the runner-up's CD could come out BEFORE the winner's (which is why Clay's was released first). But for the first season, it was required that everyone wait until the winner's album is released. Kelly put out "Thankful" in April, and Justin's came out in June.

I can't believe I found this clip. This was the pinnacle of all of his performances over the entire season. I recorded every single episode (on vhs, of course) and just recently came across them while cleaning out my closet. Indescribably beautiful. I can never listen to any other version of this song (even his own) without comparing it to this specific rendition. I missed watching his raw talent, unlike the karaoke they've shown last few seasons. Anyone know of a good way to convert vhs to dvd?

You're a "kindred spirit" lol, but I have to disagree. Kelly DOES NOT have the image. She never did, that's why idol was good for her. Justin totally has an image that is way more marketable. I'm still not sure why his mainstream career never took off.  I adore his Jazz music though, so it's all good. He's also a decent actor as well, and an amazing dancer. Triple threat. :) And this is all coming from a die-hard KC fan.
