The true word of God changed when it was translated out of its original tongue. Unless you've a firm grasp of the languages those books were written in, and studied them within their historical context, then you've never even read "the true word of God". You're merely extrapolating.
God's truth isn't "contained" within the binding of ANY book. It transcends it.
The TRUE WORD of GOD has NOT changed.. WE THE PEOPLE HAVE CHANGED BUT N.O.T. THE WORD..WE CANT CHANGE THE TRUE WORD TO SUIT OUR LIFESTYLE, REGARDLESS.. THIS DOESNT MEAN THAT I SHOULD DISLIKE ANYONE, I LOVE ALL, BUT I PRAY THAT THOSE THAT HAVE FALLEN SHORT AND HAVE GIVEN IN TO THE LUSTS OF THE FLESH, THAT THEY WILL BE AN OVERCOMER.. The TRUE WORD SAYS, PRAY to become OVERCOMERS..STOP TRYING TO 'CHANGE' THE TRUE WORD OF GOD..GOD BLESS YOU '''ALL'''.LUSTS OF THE FLESH..LEVITICUS 18:22 ENUFF SAID
Continue in your mom's evil steps? Did you not see the demon name cancer she ended up with for playing with God?So when they pass the law to marry gays you are going to married them. Hmmm, Lets see.....Corinthians 6:9-10 - "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral,idolaters,adulterers,male prostitutes,homosexual offenders,thieves,the greedy,drunkards,slanderers, swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
I cannot make out one of the names he mentions @ 1:58. It sounds like Phillip Iancee / Yancee? Can anyone who knows the guy please write his name down for me? Thanks in advance from Hungary.
Wow. I have, and still have, tons of respect for the way Jim Bakker Sr. has received deliverence from God and is on the narrow road to restoration and truth after leading a false Christian life & ministry for so long. Please read "I Was Wrong" by Jim Bakker for the whole truth on that. BUT...Jim Bakker Jr....WOW. He would marry gays? Hopefully someday he'll also write a continuation of his father's book called; "I Was Wrong, Too!" Homosexuality is simply & clearly condemned by God in His word.
Unfortunately for you, I love God and His moral standard is more important to me than that of this world. Bakker is a false teacher, he's hardly a Christian, he's leading the people that listen to him to hell.
@1776iscoming Salvation in Christianity is through grace, not works. All people are sinful and no-one, not even you, are worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven. God, in an immense act of mercy, provided his Son Jesus as a way for us to join Him in Paradise again, but to attain this eternal life with God, we have to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, and receive God's grace through him. So he is not leading ANYONE to Hell, so long as they believe in Jesus and receive God's grace. Fuckwit.
Salvation is through grace alone, a truly saved person though will display an inward change of God changing their lives and sin will diminish. People struggle, people fail, but knowingly engaging in sin/justifying sin are pretty good signs of an unsaved soul. Bakker is involved in heretical, unbiblical teachings and alot of people are falling into the trap.
@1776iscoming Once a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, and puts their Faith and trust in Him, they will receive God's Grace, and no, that does NOT necessarily mean it will change their entire being, and what makes you even think that people CAN just decide not to be gay any more? Hmmmm?? Jesus teaches us to love our neighbour, and that he who is without sin may cast the first stone, so keep you judgement to yourself, for you have no right to speak for the character of God
You are worshipping a false Jesus when you try to worship Him while trying to practice a lifestyle that He disapproves of, making matters worse saying He approves of it. I'm not judging you man, I'm just telling you the truth. I would hope somebody would say the same thing to me if I was saying I was saved and practicing sex outside of marriage simultaneously.
@1776iscoming YOU practice a lifestyle he disapproves of, so does all mankind, how are you not getting this?! All sin is equal in the eyes of God and all men are sinful, every breath you take fuels your sinful lifestyle! So, by your logic, you're also worshipping a false Jesus.
Also, nowhere in the Bible does Jesus ever say he disapproves of homosexuality, the Jews wrote all those passages.
You are trying to justify sin. Am I perfect? Of course not, nobody is. Would you say I was a true Christian if I was out cheating on my wife? I doubt it. Fornication, any sex outside of a man/woman relationship is condemned in the bible. God never changes, nor does His moral standard. Repentence, turning away from sin, is the sign of a genuine relationship with Jesus. I don't know anybody can read the bible any other way.
@1776iscoming God never changes, nor does His moral standard? Then why did we free black people from slavery? Why are women given the same rights that men are?? Why don't we stone to death people who wear garments made of two materials or farmers who sew two different crops next to one another??? The Bible needs to be personally re-evaluated!
To say that someone is not a true Christian because they live a life of sin is hypocrisy, you too live a life of sin and you consider yourself Christian.
Not exactly sure what you're hinting at, there is not one place in the bible where slavery is advocated, acknowledged, but not advocated. Nor are women seen as 2nd class by God anywhere in scripture. The other stuff, why exactly are you bringing up civil/ceremonial laws given to the Israelites? I do not live a life of sin, do I screw up, yep, but repenting and advocating sin are 2 different things.
I cited GOD'S law to the Israelites because you said "God never changes, nor does His moral standard"
Well there you go, slavery and murder are his moral standard, and if he never changes then clearly you're in support of those things as well as opposed to homosexuality.
Sin =/= damnation, therefore homosexuality =/= damnation, only blasphemy is unforgivable.
@1776iscoming And you do live a life of sin, so does every person, in your words and actions and daily life....in fact even in your thoughts you sin, so do all who live in a fallen creation. All will fall short of the glory of God and none shall be worthy or deserving of His love. So for you to judge others for their sins when, in the eyes of God, you are equally as sinful is disgusting. You deserve salvation no more than any sinner that you persecute, all sin is equal in the eyes of God
I never said once that anybody is perfect, but it is impossible to have a true relationship with God while living an unrepentant life. You can believe whatever you want, but saying that anybody can be truly saved while living in unrepentant sin is unbiblical.
@1776iscoming it is NOT impossible, your tiny pea brain is just so ignorant and bigotted it can't process when it's wrong. I hope God sees it in his wisdom to condemn bigots and homophobes such as yourself, because you are undeserving of His love.
I can 100% guarantee you that God despises fornication, whether it be bestiality, adultery, homosexuality, etc. He has made it abundantly clear in His word. God told us that in the end days that people will listen to false teachers that say things to tickle their ears, that is exactly what Bakker is doing, preaching a false gospel.
@1776iscoming Where does GOD say he despises homosexuality? And don't tell me where the jews say it, or where paul says it, tell me where God himself, or Jesus Christ says in the bible "I do not approve of homosexuality"
Do you know what adultery is? It is sexual relations outside of a male/female marriage. Jesus specifically addresses fornication, even goes as far as equating it with lust. Paul's words were inspired by God, if you are going to discount his letters then you might as well not even believe the rest of the bible. I'm not just focusing on homosexuality either, pornography and premarital sex are no better/worse. Homosexuality seems to be the one sin that false teachers focus on.
@1776iscoming That's fan-fucking-tastic, really it is - i am well aware of what adultery is, and I said homosexuality and not adultery. Paul's words were NOT inspired by God, he never interacted with Jesus and the accounts of his meeting on the road can't get their facts straight! Paul was a Pharisee and his teachings on sexual ethics were lifted directly out of Leviticus which Jesus himself made null and void under His new Covenant. Grow up you ignorant bigot
Believe what you want man, just remember Matthew 7:22-23. If you don't believe the entire bible is inspired by God, as it plainly says, then there is no reason to believe any of it.
@1776iscoming I don't believe the entire bible is inspired by God, not in the slightest, look up the Council of Nicea for starters, and look up John 7:53-8:11 and Mark 16:9-20 in the NIV bible, it even states that the earliest manuscripts didn't have these passages. They're forgeries! The NIV even admits that they cannot account for the original authors of the Gospels, so citing me Matthew doesn't equate to anything!
Why didn't you just say that you were trying to pretend like God doesn't exist in the first place instead of making a fool out of yourself? There is no possible way that anybody can justify any type of fornication with Christianity.
@1776iscoming I never said I was pretending god doesn't exist, I don't think he does exist, but I know enough about Christianity and your doctrine to know that 1. I could very easily justify homosexuality in the bible, but it takes a long time so PM me if you REALLY want to and second that being homosexual does not condemn you to hell
I take that back, you can justify homosexuality if you remove everything but the table of contents. It's the same thing as bestiality, pedophilia, porn, etc. They are all sexual sin against God, whether you choose to believe that is up to you, but that is clear in the word of God.
@1776iscoming If you have anything even close to a rational thought flicker through your brain, you can cast a HUGE shadow of doubt onto homosexuality in the bible, for one thing many Jewish Scholars agree that the original Hebrew most likely old testament referred to pederasty not homosexuality
@1776iscoming God's word says you can take slaves and beat them within an inch of their lives. God's word approves abortion, incest and rape. God's word includes selling your daughter as a sex slave. God's word decrees that you can't wear a garment made of two different materials, or else I have the right to stone you to death. 2 Kings 2:23-24 says that God is justified in killing 42 children because they called a man "baldy". CLEARLY it is the rest of the world that is wicked.
Now you're really stretching man. While you're looking at bible verses, study whom the civil and ceremonial laws were given to and who fulfilled those laws.
@1776iscoming IT'S THE SAME GOD! I don't care who he gave his rules to, God still decreed those things to be HIS law, you both believe in the existence of the Judeo-Christian God. And the stuff about slavery at least is mentioned in the new testament as well, I don't see your argument here. Was your God wrong? Was he broken to begin with, and he needed fixing?? I thought he was perfect, so don't argue with him, and start protesting for child sex slavery laws!!!
@1776iscoming The rule about homosexuality was given in the same book a lot of these laws were given in, are you "stretching it" too when you say it's against god? And don't quote me Paul, because he used to be a Pharisee, so HE was one of the main people who fulfilled this anti-gay law, and he directly copied it into two of his letters (Romans and 1 Corinthians) despite saying in Galatians that Leviticus was null and void.
The civil and ceremonial laws were given to the ancient Israelites, they were all fulfilled by Jesus' death and resurrection. God's moral standard is eternal, it is the nature of God. Sexual sin is condemned throughout scripture, there is not one place in the whole bible where God condones it. Sexual sin is any sexual lifestyle outside of a God ordained marriage. Does God forgive us when we mess up if we are truly saved, of course He does. There is a difference though..
@1776iscoming You don't seem to understand my point, which you keep admitting without realising, is that GODS MORAL STANDARD IS ETERNAL and the moral standard of that God once said to people "take slaves, beat them, rape young girls, kill children and burn people alive" and this is the moral standard that you no longer adhere to, instead you pick and choose the 'word of god' - which, by the way, in reality was the word of jewish society at the time NOT of god.
(con'td) sinning and living a life of sin. Repentence is absolutely essential for grace. I'm not condemning you, I struggled with pornography and fornication for a long time before I was married. Sexual sin is the hardest temptation that men will ever face, I don't take it lightly at all. It's only by God's grace and His power that I was able to escape it.
Jay = Please keep your convictions and beliefs and what god has put on your heart. I think you are a very courageous man and I'm so proud of you and I know your mother is too
Everyone has the right to marry a member of the opposite sex. No one has the right to become the foundation of perversion in their society. That is equal. Stop saying there are no equal rights. Do people not realize that Satan conducts war on God's creation, has a master war plan, and the attack on marriage is part of that plan? Satanists do not attack directly. They raise up others to do dirty work. Ex-satanists have said they were told to raise up the gay community against marriage. Satan work
@loveGodloveothers245 Good for him!! He's being asked his opinions, and he's stating them as his opinions. Contrast that with such charlatans as Jimmy Swaggart, Pat Robertson, (the late) Jerry Fatwell, John Hatee, and Fred Phelps, along with his family of inbreeds, who state their personal opinions as "God's word"!!
@ObamaIsAGayCokeHead Who are you to say it's not his business? He's a pastor because he felt the vocation and worked hard to become a legitimate pastor. He's actually done something. Have you put your mind on becoming an astronaut? Do you even want to become an astronaut? Yeah, you're such a model Christian. And learn to spell stupid, dumbfuck.
The evidence is a personal expierience. Feeling the holy ghost, Seeing auras, hearing his voice, developing a strong conscience, losing interest in bad things, attracting different people and expieriences into your life, having an increased knowledge and understanding instantly, feeling more loving, feeling a presence, feeling content, feeling the hole that seems to consume everything become filled, noticing more coincidences, having strong intuition, seeing the effects of karma. all these.
Many things are abominations. What exactly is an abomination? It is something that is of the times and culture! Something that is an abomination 400 years ago may not be now, or something that is considered an abomination in one country may not be in another. The word is ambiguous biased.
God said it is an abomination in His sight. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He has not changed His mind! Doesn't matter what man says or thinks, only God Himself! Homosexuality is a grave sin. I have gay friends and I love them dearly but I don't approve of their lifestyle.
The definition of abomintaion is:
1) anything abominable; anything greatly disliked or abhorred
2) a vile, shameful, or detestable action, condition, habit, etc...
Jay Bakker is NOT a minister of Jesus Christ, he is a minister of satan. The bible is very clear that homosexuality is and always will be a SIN. There are many scriptures which confirm this, i.e. Romans 1.
Jesus Christ came to save people from their sin, hence when someone comes to Christ there must be a CHANGE.
Anyone who may be reading this - I swear to you there are Christians out there who don't believe that homosexuality is a sin. Not all of us believe that gayness is evil, not all of us believe that love between two of the same gender is any less blessed by God than love between two of different gender. Please forgive us for not yet speaking up loud enough.
@CCNuck you are not the authority on what's right and what's not. the bible is the authoritated word of God and only He has the power and the right to declare what's right and what's wrong. AND THE BIBLE TELLS ME THAT HOMOSEXUALITY IS AN ABOMINATION BEFORE GOD'S EYES. HAVEN'T Y'ALL READ ABOUT GOD'S WRATH BEING POURED OUT UPON SODOM AND GOMORRAH??????? AND IN THE NEW TESTAMENT IT CONTINUES TO BE CALLED A SIN AND UNACCEPTABLE TO GOD!!!!
there are 3 things many preachers, bishops, pastors and church leaders dont like to bring up when they talk about the bible...#1- hell #2- satan and #3- sin. you must tell people what is it that God is trying to save them from in order for them to understand his love.
@dfm1740 amen!!! amen!! amen!!! if you're gay or lesbian or practicing any sin you're off track and you need to repent and confess your sins. if not you're going to hell.
Unfortunately science R , someone must interpret scripture. It has been being done for well over and near 2000 years. I want to add, a idiot could understand it. But you cant take random scripture and jump around with out meaning like you do. You start in Genisis and go thru to Revelations. When you finish, you will discover Jay Bakker is wrong.
So on the one hand you say someone must interpret scripture... yet on the other you say an idiot could do it? OK, if an idiot can do it, why don't you interpret Leviticus 25: 44-46 for me?
And as far as your claim that I was in a cult or not taught properly, that's just silly. You don't know me, and you're way off base.
But I am looking forward to your explanation of the above verses.
@ScienceReasonBelief You are reading the Old Testament...and there is not enough room here to give you a Bible course. So what group were you affiliated with, since you are a former minister? Where did you get your former training....and why are you so caught up in this particular scripture?
@Lucky: There are two particularly important sets of explicit texts. First are the prohibitions in Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13, which declare that for a man to "lie with a male as though lying with a woman" is "an abomination" or "detestable act" -- in Hebrew, "toevah" -- something utterly repugnant to God.
How would you explain Leviticus 25:44-46, where God instructs Moses on how to purchase slaves? I suppose that you believe in slavery, since it's right there in the Bible?
@ScienceReasonBelief for a person who has as much expertise as you claim, missionary, minister, trained Bible scholar? You were never taught properly. You may have been in a cult. I have known many men who have ventured into ministry and have fallen to sin and they become very confused, the truth is not in you.
Yeah, god is about forgiving and accepts everyone. But what did Jesus tell the adulteress after he saved her slutty ass from being stoned to death,"Go and sin NO MORE." Fake christians like this douche go around twisting the bible to be popular. So it's just about the red letters in the bible and nothing more huh? Well there's nothing in the RED LETTERS against sex with animals, are you for that too? Why did you decide to become a minister? "Well Larry, it sure beats workin' for a living!"
And ya know....people like Bakker keeps beating on Christians...(Backwards Mission) I know the majority of non Christians I know dispise the Homo sexual community. You can understand, that a straight male does not see a man making sex with another man is a big YUK. So the non Christian side is less accepting. We Christians know God can save them and clean them from what the Bible calls a sinand even rates a little worse, because it is against nature.
He is more critical of Christians than homosexuals. He believes we can be caught up in sin and be ok....does he not know about Gods judgement pertaining perverting the gospel. abd he knows so much more than us others....
@agent0317 “I don’t think homosexuality is a sin” is what Bakker lives by, but it is apparent that he doesn’t know the bible, or either he knows it but is in denial about the reality of it? In the Bible it clearly states that homosexuality is an abomination (ref. Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13). It tells us to hate the sin, not the person. There’s an enormous difference there that most people have difficulty understanding. IT'S A SIN! Why? Because GOD said it was!
@agent0317 homosexuality isn't a sin. the old testament equates it along the same level as eating seafood or wearing clothes made of more than one fabric. the reason the old testament law forbid it at all was mainly do to the need for procreation. The Israelites were a small struggling group of people. Things are much different now.
Why would he think his god thing hated him? That sounds like a reaction to indoctrinated rhetoric. In Jay's lifetime, the only group that has had this notion consistently and so fervently drilled into their head has been the gays.
@georgel19841 - very unfortunate comment coming from someone who may have some difficult internal issues you are dealing with. instead of dealing with those issues you say hateful things like faggot. Not very cool.
@robinsonhardin Yes, but he is the one who stuck his head in the door of the church and put himself in the pulpit and proclaims the Christian Gospel and attempts to pervert it , and Gods people. Young Jamie needs to get saved..
My question is, who is he accountable to . (LICENSED)
who are you accoutable to? why is your version of christianity better than his?? what gives you the authority to decide what's right and wrong in the Bible?
@Toronto135 You may be interested to know that the word "homosexual" is a mistranslation that didn't appear in the KJV until 1958. Rather than reading the KJV and assuming that it must be correct because it is most popular, we might do well to prayerfully consider the meaning of the word "arsenokoitai." Scholars are now agreeing that this word does not refer to gay people as we know them today. Jesus preached that scripture should be interpreted through an eye of grace. We should, too.
@Pray4Revival Regardless of translations of words, God made it crystal clear what the parameters were for marriage and sex, in Genesis 2:24. Anything outside of these boundaries, is sin, period. In addition, Jesus Himself affirmed this teaching from Genesis 2:24, in Matthew 19.
Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
4And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
@Whitese7en I don't believe that the Bible is designed to be interpreted in such literal absolutes. If Christ had intended such an interpretation, then He would've written his OWN epistles. While Matthew 19:4-6 describes who married whom in their ancient society, it is not about who should be ALLOWED to marry whom. We can't read the entire will of God for such a complex subject into just a few verses of scripture. I am not a literalist or a fundamentalist, so we will never agree on this.
@Pray4Revival What you believe, is irrelevant. All that matters, is what God's Word says. I'm not interpreting anything friend. I'm merely reading it and when I merely read it, what it says, is that God made them male(MAN) and female(WOMAN) and for this cause a man(MALE) shall leave his parents and cleave to his wife(FEMALE) and the two(MALE & FEMALE ONLY) shall become one flesh.
That my friend is THE ONLY MODEL FOR MARRIAGE AND SEX GIVEN BY GOD PERIOD, irrespective of what you believe.
@Whitese7en Again, we will NEVER agree on this. But tell me, if you lived prior to the resurrection, would you have been willing to stone your disobedient CHILDREN to death? Would you have stoned a rape victim for not crying out? Because that is what a literal interpretation of the Bible would have called for you to do. Would you have killed people who didn't believe in God? Your literal interpretation of scripture would have required it. Would you have been so "obedient" then?
@Pray4Revival This has nothing to do with the scriptural teaching that men are only to marry women and vice versa. Homosexuality is a sin. As such, it is never sanctioned, tolerated or condoned in any of the 66 books of the Bible. Whenever it is discussed in scripture, it is soundly condemned.
@Whitese7en It has EVERYTHING to do with the marriage issue as I am questioning your literal application of scripture. (And I find it interesting that you didn't answer my question.) So I will ask the question again. If you lived prior to the resurrection, would you still be a literalist? Would you stone your disobedient children and women who do not cry out during rape? Do you affirm that the entire Bible should be applied literally in every dispensation?
@Pray4Revival The Bible, in many places, is to be taken literally. The passage where Jesus affirms the OT teaching concerning the parameters set forth in Genesis 2:24 governing marriage and sex, is one such place. I'm not going to allow you to muddy the waters by asking me a question that has NOTHING to do with God's teaching that homosexuality is a WICKED, VILE and PERVERTED SIN. My answer to that or any other question one can ask, doesn't change God's Law. There's no connection between the 2.
@Whitese7en All sin is "wicked, vile, and perverted" according to scripture. Again, my question (which I asked twice, but you were too cowardly to answer) was relevant as it went to the heart of your convenient affinity for literal interpretations that affirm your world view. Your refusal to answer speaks a thousand words. You clearly don't believe that the OT church should have taken scripture literally, but claim that we should. This is an obvious logical fallacy that you won't acknowledge.
@Pray4Revival No, it was completely irrelevant as it has nothing to do with the scriptural teaching that only men and women are to marry each other. I NEVER once said or intimated that the whole Bible is to be taken literally. I did however state that this teaching from Gen 2:24 and Matt 19, are to be taken literally.
No, I don't clearly believe that. The laws that were given in the OT, were given to the Jews for a reason. The OT Laws were to be followed to the letter of the law.
@Whitese7en Continued:-- It's interesting that now you claim that the Bible should only be taken literally "in many places." Just a day ago, "all that mattered" to you was what scripture said. When is the Bible ever WRONG in your eyes? Careful! There may be rebellious kids reading your comments. (Deut 21:18) It's OK to admit that God's will may not be totally represented in the Bible. Jesus knew this, which is why he didn't employ a hyper-literal application of scripture. We should imitate Him.
@Pray4Revival No, I never once said that. Although not all of it is to be taken literally, it is still all God's holy and infallible Word. The Bible is NEVER wrong. It is perfect and infallible, as is God. Whether rebellious kids are reading my comments or not, is irrelevant.
@Whitese7en Was wondering when you would ask that. A revival of Christ's ministry, which was based on love, reason, peace, community and acceptance. Shockingly, Christ's ministry was not based on dogma. I'd like to see the church do radical ministry the way Christ would have. (Although I accept that it may never happen in my lifetime.)
@Whitese7en Not to prolong the discussion, but if Christ's ministry was about applying scripture literally in every circumstance, then why didn't he condone the stoning of the adulterous woman? Why did he break the sabbath? Why did he touch the lepers? These (and other things) were all demonstrations of how love should supercede "the law." Do you disagree? And if so, then why? (I'm curious.)
@Pray4Revival That's a great question, which I'm glad you asked. It's because she wasn't the only one who was guilty of that sin. For God's justice to have truly been served, they would all have to be stoned. That is why He stated "he who is without sin, let him cast the first stone". Christ knew they were all guilty of the very same sin. They were trying to trap Him but He turned it around on them which struck at the heart of their very own self-righteousness.
@Pray4Revival Well, if He was referring to any sin, then doesn't it stand to reason that no one would be able to cast a stone? The whole reason for His presence at that moment in time, was because man was fallen and needed his sin atoned for. He didn't come here for some people, he came here for everyone because we are all sinners.
@Whitese7en continued: So... do you agree with Job... that the planets revolve around the earth? (Just curious.) And have you ever read any books that weren't written by fundamentalists? I don't mean this in a rude way. You just remind me of ME-- about five years ago. I used to be afraid to think critically about the texts because I feared that God would be angry with me, until I realized that He's intelligent and expects us to think critically. Again, not a jab at you, just my testimony.
@Pray4Revival First off, I want to address your "fear" of God comment. Personally, I don't fear God. I do revere Him, but I don't fear Him. What I mean by that, is that I know He's not out to get me when I make a mistake. This is a comforting thought, because I fail Him daily. But, when I do, I acknowledge my sin, thank Him for His forgiveness and go on about my life. He's not out to get us, if He were, He would have never sent His Son to take our place on the cross.
@Whitese7en The info can be found on ChristianAnswers(dot)net by googling Galileo Bible. The verses are Job 9:6 and Job 26:7. Galileo was labeled a heretic in the 17th century. We didn't admit that He was right until 1981 because we didn't want to give credence to any view that would find fault with our scriptures. Alternative views aren't a threat to God. They're a threat to mankind and "church" as we seek to narrowly define God. This is why such debates occur. We worship the Book and not Him.
@Whitese7en Hello. I'm talking about the planets orbiting the earth... I hurriedly gave you the Job verses, but Psalm 93:1, Psalm 104:5, 1 Chronicles 16:30 may be better examples. The assumption based on these verses and others was that the earth was a fixed entity in space and everything else revolved around it. This belief was reflected in scripture. When Galileo challenged it, he was labeled a heretic until the Vatican lifted the pronouncement in 1981. Sorry for the lack of clarity.
@Whitese7en I'm not asking you to care what I believe. I am asking you to manage your own beliefs responsibly and thoughtfully. To say that we should apply the New Testament literally is to say that we would have applied the Old Testament literally, too. This means that you're being a hypocrite unless you condone killing your disobedient children and murdering rape victims. Even Jesus didn't apply scripture as literally as you do. Think about the woman caught in adultery and the sabbath.
@Pray4Revival When God said what He did in Gen 2:24 and Christ later affirmed that teaching, it was meant to be taken literally. MARRIAGE IS RESERVED FOR MEN AND WOMEN ALONE TO MARRY EACH OTHER. This is not just what I believe, it is what God's holy and infallible Word says.
well everyone who talks shit is goin to hell! there is no problem with gays or anything! its there life n not yours soo stay out of there lifes! thats all yall have to do for fun is talk shit about people who isnt like you. what a life and so stop hating people thats not like u! or ur goin to hell
all foggots, sodomites, homosexuals, bisexuals, transexuals, oral sexuals, fornicators, adulterers, lezbians, witches, sluts, prostitutes males and females, witchery, sourcery, porn advocates or those that promote this. are all going to HELL.........READ ROMANS 1:25-32
@BHOLYFUL Oral sexuals????? Sorry but that is not in the bible!!!!! Being GAY is SIN period, but oral sex between husband and wife is perfectly clean!!!!!
Ted Haggard is a total hypocrite he sleeps with a man then all of a sudden he thinks hes cured and is straight ? What an ignorant bigot and ty Jay nice to see a loving Christian for a change who actually treats people like HUMAN BEINGS instead of diseases.
The passages in the Bible that refer to sex between men have to do with rape, not loving relationships. But if you don't believe that, then follow ALL of the Bible. Stop picking and choosing the parts that justify your bigotry and hate.
I heard today that his father has repented and denied prosperity gospel saying its wrong. Gay marriage is as wrong because God who inspired the Bible is against homosexuality. You cant just ADD to the Bible to satisfy your own ego..... God is good, and just and righteous. So dear Jay go back to the Bible for the answers hon :)
Government-marriage and Bible-marriage are not necessarily the same thing. The government does not need to enforce God's laws, on issues outside of theft, violence, fraud and pollution.
It is a matter of orderly government and a healthy society, to let all adult consensual marriages occur, no matter who is involved. A government-recognized gay marriage does not threaten your real marriage.
Well they are absolutely NOT the same thing. If you believe in God you believe He is against homosexuality, is very basic and some just want to put words in His mouth or add to the Bible.
Jay Baker is a blasphemer, just like his father. From prosperity gospel to homosexuality, that family has gone from one extreme to another. Steer clear of the Bakers. They will lead you to hell.
"Love of money is the root of all evil" -- 1 Timothy 6:10
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." -- Leviticus 18:22
wfailed I wasn't saying pastors do work for free. I was saying they should not be expected to work full time for the church for free and indeed they do get paid.
wfailed, as a pastor's daughter I can say that you don't know what you're talking about saying pastor's work is easy. They don't JUST do church services you know...and saying they wear nice suits their flock bought them. How would you like to have a full time job but not get paid a dime? Pastors have to survive and live. Get real man.
I think he needs 5 years on the isle of Patmos also like Jim. May be if he reads enough of the Bible, he will see there is NO unconditional Love. Jesus said, go and SIN NO MORE!
ya know i really love it when people give that answer (not sarcastic) i really do. ok so with that saying i would say it is a fact that the bible is true... ok ok calm down but listen, 24,000+ original manuscripts have been found and certified from the new testament compare that to ancient historians like Livy who has 10 or Tacitus with 20 that we consider absolute truth! The fact is if the bible was a collection of secular writing it would be considered absolute truth beyond all doubt.

Hmmm, Lets see.....Corinthians 6:9-10 - "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God?

Fuckwit.
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming Once a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, and puts their Faith and trust in Him, they will receive God's Grace, and no, that does NOT necessarily mean it will change their entire being, and what makes you even think that people CAN just decide not to be gay any more? Hmmmm?? Jesus teaches us to love our neighbour, and that he who is without sin may cast the first stone, so keep you judgement to yourself, for you have no right to speak for the character of God
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming YOU practice a lifestyle he disapproves of, so does all mankind, how are you not getting this?! All sin is equal in the eyes of God and all men are sinful, every breath you take fuels your sinful lifestyle! So, by your logic, you're also worshipping a false Jesus.
Also, nowhere in the Bible does Jesus ever say he disapproves of homosexuality, the Jews wrote all those passages.
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming God never changes, nor does His moral standard? Then why did we free black people from slavery? Why are women given the same rights that men are?? Why don't we stone to death people who wear garments made of two materials or farmers who sew two different crops next to one another??? The Bible needs to be personally re-evaluated!
To say that someone is not a true Christian because they live a life of sin is hypocrisy, you too live a life of sin and you consider yourself Christian.
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming Slavery - Leviticus 25:44-46, Exodus 21:2-6, Exodus 21:7-11, Exodus 21:20-21, Ephesians 6:5, 1 Timothy 6:1-2, Luke 12:47-48
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@1776iscoming And you do live a life of sin, so does every person, in your words and actions and daily life....in fact even in your thoughts you sin, so do all who live in a fallen creation. All will fall short of the glory of God and none shall be worthy or deserving of His love. So for you to judge others for their sins when, in the eyes of God, you are equally as sinful is disgusting. You deserve salvation no more than any sinner that you persecute, all sin is equal in the eyes of God
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
I never said once that anybody is perfect, but it is impossible to have a true relationship with God while living an unrepentant life. You can believe whatever you want, but saying that anybody can be truly saved while living in unrepentant sin is unbiblical.
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming it is NOT impossible, your tiny pea brain is just so ignorant and bigotted it can't process when it's wrong. I hope God sees it in his wisdom to condemn bigots and homophobes such as yourself, because you are undeserving of His love.
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming Where does GOD say he despises homosexuality? And don't tell me where the jews say it, or where paul says it, tell me where God himself, or Jesus Christ says in the bible "I do not approve of homosexuality"
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming That's fan-fucking-tastic, really it is - i am well aware of what adultery is, and I said homosexuality and not adultery. Paul's words were NOT inspired by God, he never interacted with Jesus and the accounts of his meeting on the road can't get their facts straight! Paul was a Pharisee and his teachings on sexual ethics were lifted directly out of Leviticus which Jesus himself made null and void under His new Covenant. Grow up you ignorant bigot

OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
So, I take it that you believe in universal salvation? That all paths lead to the same God?
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming No, I don't believe in the existence of your god, or any gods for that matter, I just (evidently) know your doctrine better than you do
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
Why didn't you just say that you were trying to pretend like God doesn't exist in the first place instead of making a fool out of yourself? There is no possible way that anybody can justify any type of fornication with Christianity.
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming I never said I was pretending god doesn't exist, I don't think he does exist, but I know enough about Christianity and your doctrine to know that 1. I could very easily justify homosexuality in the bible, but it takes a long time so PM me if you REALLY want to and second that being homosexual does not condemn you to hell
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
I take that back, you can justify homosexuality if you remove everything but the table of contents. It's the same thing as bestiality, pedophilia, porn, etc. They are all sexual sin against God, whether you choose to believe that is up to you, but that is clear in the word of God.
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming If you have anything even close to a rational thought flicker through your brain, you can cast a HUGE shadow of doubt onto homosexuality in the bible, for one thing many Jewish Scholars agree that the original Hebrew most likely old testament referred to pederasty not homosexuality
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
lol OK, believe whatever you want man, I stand by God's word, not the wisdom of an evil, wicked, disgusting world.
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming God's word says you can take slaves and beat them within an inch of their lives. God's word approves abortion, incest and rape. God's word includes selling your daughter as a sex slave. God's word decrees that you can't wear a garment made of two different materials, or else I have the right to stone you to death. 2 Kings 2:23-24 says that God is justified in killing 42 children because they called a man "baldy". CLEARLY it is the rest of the world that is wicked.
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
Now you're really stretching man. While you're looking at bible verses, study whom the civil and ceremonial laws were given to and who fulfilled those laws.
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming IT'S THE SAME GOD! I don't care who he gave his rules to, God still decreed those things to be HIS law, you both believe in the existence of the Judeo-Christian God. And the stuff about slavery at least is mentioned in the new testament as well, I don't see your argument here. Was your God wrong? Was he broken to begin with, and he needed fixing?? I thought he was perfect, so don't argue with him, and start protesting for child sex slavery laws!!!
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@1776iscoming The rule about homosexuality was given in the same book a lot of these laws were given in, are you "stretching it" too when you say it's against god? And don't quote me Paul, because he used to be a Pharisee, so HE was one of the main people who fulfilled this anti-gay law, and he directly copied it into two of his letters (Romans and 1 Corinthians) despite saying in Galatians that Leviticus was null and void.
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
@OpinionatedAussie
1776iscoming 6 months ago
@1776iscoming You don't seem to understand my point, which you keep admitting without realising, is that GODS MORAL STANDARD IS ETERNAL and the moral standard of that God once said to people "take slaves, beat them, rape young girls, kill children and burn people alive" and this is the moral standard that you no longer adhere to, instead you pick and choose the 'word of god' - which, by the way, in reality was the word of jewish society at the time NOT of god.
OpinionatedAussie 6 months ago
(con'td) sinning and living a life of sin. Repentence is absolutely essential for grace. I'm not condemning you, I struggled with pornography and fornication for a long time before I was married. Satan work

Many things are abominations. What exactly is an abomination? It is something that is of the times and culture! Something that is an abomination 400 years ago may not be now, or something that is considered an abomination in one country may not be in another. The word is ambiguous biased.
vegangirly 1 year ago
@vegangirly :

DerrickthePinecone 1 year ago
@agent0317 homosexuality isn't a sin. the old testament equates it along the same level as eating seafood or wearing clothes made of more than one fabric. the reason the old testament law forbid it at all was mainly do to the need for procreation. The Israelites were a small struggling group of people. Things are much different now.

Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival Matt 19:4-6
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en I don't believe that the Bible is designed to be interpreted in such literal absolutes. If Christ had intended such an interpretation, then He would've written his OWN epistles. While Matthew 19:4-6 describes who married whom in their ancient society, it is not about who should be ALLOWED to marry whom. We can't read the entire will of God for such a complex subject into just a few verses of scripture. I am not a literalist or a fundamentalist, so we will never agree on this.
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en Again, we will NEVER agree on this. But tell me, if you lived prior to the resurrection, would you have been willing to stone your disobedient CHILDREN to death? Would you have stoned a rape victim for not crying out? Because that is what a literal interpretation of the Bible would have called for you to do. Would you have killed people who didn't believe in God? Your literal interpretation of scripture would have required it. Would you have been so "obedient" then?
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival This has nothing to do with the scriptural teaching that men are only to marry women and vice versa. Homosexuality is a sin. As such, it is never sanctioned, tolerated or condoned in any of the 66 books of the Bible. Whenever it is discussed in scripture, it is soundly condemned.
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en It has EVERYTHING to do with the marriage issue as I am questioning your literal application of scripture. (And I find it interesting that you didn't answer my question.) So I will ask the question again. If you lived prior to the resurrection, would you still be a literalist? Would you stone your disobedient children and women who do not cry out during rape? Do you affirm that the entire Bible should be applied literally in every dispensation?
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival The Bible, in many places, is to be taken literally. The passage where Jesus affirms the OT teaching concerning the parameters set forth in Genesis 2:24 governing marriage and sex, is one such place. I'm not going to allow you to muddy the waters by asking me a question that has NOTHING to do with God's teaching that homosexuality is a WICKED, VILE and PERVERTED SIN. My answer to that or any other question one can ask, doesn't change God's Law. There's no connection between the 2.
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en All sin is "wicked, vile, and perverted" according to scripture. Again, my question (which I asked twice, but you were too cowardly to answer) was relevant as it went to the heart of your convenient affinity for literal interpretations that affirm your world view. Your refusal to answer speaks a thousand words. You clearly don't believe that the OT church should have taken scripture literally, but claim that we should. This is an obvious logical fallacy that you won't acknowledge.
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival No, it was completely irrelevant as it has nothing to do with the scriptural teaching that only men and women are to marry each other. I NEVER once said or intimated that the whole Bible is to be taken literally. I did however state that this teaching from Gen 2:24 and Matt 19, are to be taken literally.
No, I don't clearly believe that. The laws that were given in the OT, were given to the Jews for a reason. The OT Laws were to be followed to the letter of the law.
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en Continued:-- It's interesting that now you claim that the Bible should only be taken literally "in many places." Just a day ago, "all that mattered" to you was what scripture said. When is the Bible ever WRONG in your eyes? Careful! There may be rebellious kids reading your comments. (Deut 21:18) It's OK to admit that God's will may not be totally represented in the Bible. Jesus knew this, which is why he didn't employ a hyper-literal application of scripture. We should imitate Him.
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival No, I never once said that. Although not all of it is to be taken literally, it is still all God's holy and infallible Word. The Bible is NEVER wrong. It is perfect and infallible, as is God. Whether rebellious kids are reading my comments or not, is irrelevant.
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en Quoting you: "The Bible is never wrong." ... (What????) ... Galileo would disagree. :)
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival Yes, it is the infallible Word of God. I don't care who would disagree, it's still the infallible Word of God.
Just curious, what kind of "revival" are you praying for?
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en Was wondering when you would ask that. A revival of Christ's ministry, which was based on love, reason, peace, community and acceptance. Shockingly, Christ's ministry was not based on dogma. I'd like to see the church do radical ministry the way Christ would have. (Although I accept that it may never happen in my lifetime.)
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival Well, your last comment sealed it for me. which was why I asked.
Christ's ministry was based on God's Word, all of God's Word, even those verses which condemn homosexuality for the perverted sin that it is.
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en Not to prolong the discussion, but if Christ's ministry was about applying scripture literally in every circumstance, then why didn't he condone the stoning of the adulterous woman? Why did he break the sabbath? Why did he touch the lepers? These (and other things) were all demonstrations of how love should supercede "the law." Do you disagree? And if so, then why? (I'm curious.)
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival That's a great question, which I'm glad you asked. It's because she wasn't the only one who was guilty of that sin. For God's justice to have truly been served, they would all have to be stoned. That is why He stated "he who is without sin, let him cast the first stone". Christ knew they were all guilty of the very same sin. They were trying to trap Him but He turned it around on them which struck at the heart of their very own self-righteousness.
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en Interesting. The text says "he who is without sin," not "he who is without this sin"... but okay. :)
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival Well, if He was referring to any sin, then doesn't it stand to reason that no one would be able to cast a stone? The whole reason for His presence at that moment in time, was because man was fallen and needed his sin atoned for. He didn't come here for some people, he came here for everyone because we are all sinners.
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en continued: So... do you agree with Job... that the planets revolve around the earth? (Just curious.) And have you ever read any books that weren't written by fundamentalists? I don't mean this in a rude way. You just remind me of ME-- about five years ago. I used to be afraid to think critically about the texts because I feared that God would be angry with me, until I realized that He's intelligent and expects us to think critically. Again, not a jab at you, just my testimony.
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival First off, I want to address your "fear" of God comment. Personally, I don't fear God. I do revere Him, but I don't fear Him. What I mean by that, is that I know He's not out to get me when I make a mistake. This is a comforting thought, because I fail Him daily. But, when I do, I acknowledge my sin, thank Him for His forgiveness and go on about my life. He's not out to get us, if He were, He would have never sent His Son to take our place on the cross.
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival What verse in Job are you speaking of?
Yes, I read many different authors, Christian and secular.
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en The info can be found on ChristianAnswers(dot)net by googling Galileo Bible. The verses are Job 9:6 and Job 26:7. Galileo was labeled a heretic in the 17th century. We didn't admit that He was right until 1981 because we didn't want to give credence to any view that would find fault with our scriptures. Alternative views aren't a threat to God. They're a threat to mankind and "church" as we seek to narrowly define God. This is why such debates occur. We worship the Book and not Him.
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival I was just curious what verses you were referring to.
In answer to your earlier question, yes, I do agree with Job that the planets do indeed orbit the Sun.
However, there is nothing in the two verses you gave me, that address planetary orbits.
Whitese7en 1 year ago
@Whitese7en Hello. I'm talking about the planets orbiting the earth... I hurriedly gave you the Job verses, but Psalm 93:1, Psalm 104:5, 1 Chronicles 16:30 may be better examples. The assumption based on these verses and others was that the earth was a fixed entity in space and everything else revolved around it. This belief was reflected in scripture. When Galileo challenged it, he was labeled a heretic until the Vatican lifted the pronouncement in 1981. Sorry for the lack of clarity.
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Whitese7en I'm not asking you to care what I believe. I am asking you to manage your own beliefs responsibly and thoughtfully. To say that we should apply the New Testament literally is to say that we would have applied the Old Testament literally, too. This means that you're being a hypocrite unless you condone killing your disobedient children and murdering rape victims. Even Jesus didn't apply scripture as literally as you do. Think about the woman caught in adultery and the sabbath.
Pray4Revival 1 year ago
@Pray4Revival When God said what He did in Gen 2:24 and Christ later affirmed that teaching, it was meant to be taken literally. MARRIAGE IS RESERVED FOR MEN AND WOMEN ALONE TO MARRY EACH OTHER. This is not just what I believe, it is what God's holy and infallible Word says.

LadyD1979 2 years ago
Government-marriage and Bible-marriage are not necessarily the same thing. The government does not need to enforce God's laws, on issues outside of theft, violence, fraud and pollution.
It is a matter of orderly government and a healthy society, to let all adult consensual marriages occur, no matter who is involved. A government-recognized gay marriage does not threaten your real marriage.
destination2013 2 years ago 2
Well they are absolutely NOT the same thing. If you believe in God you believe He is against homosexuality, is very basic and some just want to put words in His mouth or add to the Bible.

ya know i really love it when people give that answer (not sarcastic) i really do. ok so with that saying i would say it is a fact that the bible is true... ok ok calm down but listen, 24,000+ original manuscripts have been found and certified from the new testament compare that to ancient historians like Livy who has 10 or Tacitus with 20 that we consider absolute truth! The fact is if the bible was a collection of secular writing it would be considered absolute truth beyond all doubt.
