This is almost unbearably beautiful--the arrangement, the vocals, everything. I've listened to it dozens of times, and it never fails to move me. Thank you so much for posting it--I feel lucky (ha ha) to have found it.
@kmiranda09 Hi I think you might mean Sally. She is also on the recording for Ben Folds' a cappella album. Search for "wnycradio ben folds luckiest" and watch the video by wnycradio, she had to sing into a coat for the recording.
This is INCREDIBLE. The acappella group I'm in is doing this song for a wedding, and it IS published, cause I have the sheet music. Ridiculously good arrangement too.
this is very nice, the soprano descants are lovely, but why do groups still feel the need to have a very visible over-working student director, especially on a ballad?
I'm a music teacher and a big Ben Fold's fan . . . other than the original, this is the best arrangement I've hear. LOVE THE BALANCE in the Chorus! UNREAL. For a live performance (obviously on an average camera) this is absolutely AMAZING! KUDDOS!
I have to say that the CD does not do you justice. I think this live recording is much better. That's not to say that the CD is bad--it's still phenomenal, it just loses some of the spark that is on this version. Why does the high soprano part drop out at the end on the album?
best arrangement of those on the website... i love the soprano in the background - just beautiful. and that soloist... GREAT intepretation. hope you guys make the c.d. :)
This gave me chills. Having male and female voices works so well. Amazing. I can't count how many times this song has brought tears to my eyes. Love it.
Gorgeous song, gorgeous solo, and FUCKING FANTASTIC sopranos! I really hope Ben chooses you guys for the CD, cuz I wanna hear you guys singing this song every night before I go to sleep
I will always love this. The fact that it's this good from a digital camera just tells you how mind-blowing it was to hear in person. Love you guys so, so much.

I guess since you guys did you're own arrangement I'll tolerate it. You don't have to sound choirish even though you're in an accapella group. That was my only problem.
I cry every time I hear this song, and being that my boyfriend and I just broke up after a year- a year spent with a lot of time singing next to each other in our high school's sixteen-member a Capella jazz choir- I cried even harder this time. When he first asked me out, he did it by playing and singing "The Luckiest" to me alone on a stage, with a single white rose on the piano. I really appreciated this video, thanks for posting it.

So who IS the soprano at 3:49? I can't think of any reason I actually need to know that, but it's always nice to put a name to spectacular-ness.

3:55-4:04 the soprano is so clear and beautiful. It sounds like a freaking flute!

Either Joe is actually thinking of someone as he sings this or he's just really good at channeling the emotion of a piece.

Congrats to the Amateurs for being part of the Ben Folds Album: Unversity A Capella! Out April 28th!
Apparently this video was what really gave Ben the impetus to do the project. What a complement.

I was wondering. The date on this one is older, which started me thinking. Possibly in error, but thinking none the less.

this definitely deserves to be on the cd. this and exit 245's Army are the two best that Ben's linked from his site.

Brilliant arrangement. Wonderful choice of soloist. Whoever arranged this should seriously consider publishing it. I'd buy a copy.

The soloist (Joe) is actually also the person who arranged it -- I'll mention it to him when I see him!
