What the rubish......why dont they introduce Tesla's technology and give us a free energy instead of this control system as an excuse for "saving an energy".....Big Brother is on the move again........

@MrJivePirate no one cares when you take a bath or use the mircrowave oven. All they need to know is how much energy you use to adapt their production (use less fuel if you use less energy). Truth is smart meters will really be useful when you will produce your own energy : the plant will immediatly know it and reduce the production so you can actually produce more energy yourselve, and maybe share the extra with your neighbours (which is currently not possible on a global scale).
It's amazing to me that this system has been in place for a hundred plus years. It simply looks inefficient. Maybe the smart grid should cut some fat as well?

Now thanks to the smart meter, we get to have a forced class 2b carcinogen pulsing throughout our home every 6 to 20 seconds 24/7. Oops!

@jccw2002 not really. It is good science since our entire society needs energy.

The appeal to clean energy at the end seemed like it was tacked on to make the video as a whole appear like it's meant for greenies...
It seemed hollow IMO :P

Great, but what about privacy? I'm not wild about the idea that PG&E or somesuch is going to know when I use my appliances.

@acrazyone1 yeah, good comment - I have to agree. Needs something, anyway.

Cut some fat? It hasn't fully started yet, they are going to be implementing these things soon.
LanceStern2455 6 months ago
@LanceStern2455 I meant maybe the smart grid should remove some of the pieces of the old system as well as implement the smart options.
