Surely Rivers sang this perfectly well in the studio, but AOL autotuned the shit out of his voice and it's not subtle at all. At the way it's being autotuned, he could have literally played guitar and spoke the lyrics into the mic and it would have sounded almost this good.

I honestly doubt that he's using auto-tune on his vocals... since he's obviously out of key in certain parts... which wouldn't make sense.. why use auto-tune on certain parts and not others... Rivers has a great voice and I think one thing that's being confused is when he backs away from the mic it causes his vocals to "fade" a bit, which enhances what he's doing vocally... as a musician I can honestly say that I don't hear pitch correction, which is something that's usually done in a studio btw

@DeEzriel I've read in other posts that AOL insists on using pitch correction in performances like these and I wouldn't doubt it (This is more like a "live" in studio setting so it wouldn't be that hard to do if forced to). If you listen real carefully during those parts where He's a bit out, you can hear a slight (unnatural) "struggle" going on trying to "fix" it. Whatever it is, it's slight and Weezer definitely doesn't need it. They're one of the few out there that can actually sing live.

Usually it's transparent, but here it's just so blatant it ruins the song. It reminds me of the vocals on Paul McCartney's "Good Evening New York" live album. That was just abysmal...
