  • This camera sounds great from a high ISO and color/dynamic range perspective, but the Canon 7D is much better as far as ergonomics and menus. On the 7D everything can easily be done while keeping your eye in the viewfinder, including changing the Autofocus issue you mentioned. Picture quality is better on the D7000, ergonomics are better on the 7D. For portrait photography the D7000 wins, for action, outdoor and unexpected scenes, the 7D wins.

  • This is on it's way to my house.

    HURRY UP ALREADY.

  • Love your video im getting a D7000 next week, Your review made me make up my mind. Thank you.

  • Thanks for the awesome review. You're great.

  • What bugs me is also the live view mode when taking stills.

In this mode the maximum exposure time is 1/30s and it doesnt show you any difference in the final picture to come when changing the exposure.

  • could it be that the issue with the microphone cable moving around is due to the cable itself, rather than the camera?

  • just bought 1 on Ebay for 1100 used, almost new condition! Thanks for the review!

  • I agree with the other commenters: Awesome review! Lengthy but fun!

  • Got a D7000 two weeks ago and ever since then i tried taking a bad picture, i couldn't....That's my review.......... Nikon hit a grand slam :)

  • Awesome, awesome,a wesome review! Very objective! Thanks very much!

  • Great review. I want this camera so bad...

  • as a nikon fanboy i can say that the canon's video is better...and the other way around with the still images.

  • your a super cool guy and not like the other dudes on youtube with "professional photographer" ego's. It's makes the review a lot better to watch.

  • lol. i had the same problem with the focus thing you had on the end in the video :P I have the camera for a week or 2, and still didn't found it till i search for it on the internet :P

  • awesome review, awesome personality...if i could sub twice i would ^^

  • fantastic review you have a grate personality

  • Great review. Cheers.

  • Great review! Enjoyed every bit of it!

  • Your review is so funny

  • Peter, a video very well done. I have been seriously considering this camera but when you said you actually had to look at the owner's manual, it was the deal breaker for me. Real men never read instruction manuals. Joking, of course. I'm just an photo enthusiast and almost never do videos. The built in intervalometer is an important feature for me because I love to dabble in time lapse shots.

    Thanks for the informative video.

  • hey peter, it´s more than a year since you upload this videos. how good has the camera been since then? I´m really interested in buying that but read somewhere about some focusing issues, specially when using third part lenses. can you please tell me stg about it?

  • Thank you so much for making this review, Peter! Very informative and funny!

  • Thanks Peter for this review. It clears some of my doubts on D7000. Thumbs up.

  • I don`t care about D7000, but really enjoyed review. Thanks!

  • Thanks for this review! Its really funny and has a lot of informations in it. Love it^^

  • thought about getting the d90, but now it's d7000.

  • @BerkeleyBuilt me too :D

  • @BerkeleyBuilt i like A77

  • enjoyed your review and your from Miami, cool

  • Hi,

Great review, is it the 50mm f/1.4 on the camera ?

  • This guy is amazing. He should have his own show

  • "I also do sound effects"!! LOL

    Really excellent review. Thanks

  • This guy... <3

  • Great!

    Thanks for being a blessing.

    Marvin

  • they fixed the audio jack,, that information is kinda outdated

  • Great Review m8! you should review everything.

I got the D7000 a few days ago, and I couldn't find the focus point either!

I spent a solid 30 mins looking all over the camera & in the menu.

The manual was not too clear either! but I found it in the end.

I'm super happy with this camera.

  • thanks for the upload

  • liked the review.

  • Good job sir!

  • wowww!i love the this camera :)! Do you know you can make Time Lapse Photography with this camera?

These guys have an infrared remote time-lapse device for all cameras: tempusALL.bymac.org

    sweet!! :P

  • Thanks for the good review sir.

  • really great review by an old school

  • check my channel for short film and video test with d7000

  • great review!

  • thank u man , that was a nice review ,i have this great cam and i love it but i have a question when i put the on camera flash using the manual settings ,the metering still want me to slow down the shutter speed to get the right exposure any suggestions for a good indoor shooting like portraits or weddings ,and what lens works the best with this camera ? thank u so much

  • re. the ok button not having the option to zoom 100% during playback - this could be resolved via a firmware update.

re. the mic adaptor not syating in - can't you just file off the part of the adaptor that preventing it from going all the way in?

  • The peski secret button for changing auto focus pattern doesn't need to be held in. The function holds for about 3 secs or until one finishes using the command dial to change settings. to Hold it in is infact difficult when a heavy lense attached.

  • You are doing a great job, but you have spent way to much time repeating the microphone plug story. It's half the video. glasses on glasses off, repeat

  • You are doing a great job, but you have spent way to much time repeating the microphone plug story. It's half the video.

  • nice review - funny stuff

  • dude you are soooo slooooooow

  • something is wrong with you man....

  • Really a great presentation..liked a lot..since I came to see best review of D7000...

  • thank you sir for giving such useful info.

  • D7000 sound sounds better

  • nice

  • can i use a nikon 50 mm normal lens with the nikon d 7000 camera?

  • can you adjust the iso during video? and what are the mic's like when recording in loud enviroments?

  • cheers..

  • Is that a 50mm 1.4? If it is, can you tell me how you like it? Thank you.

  • wow.. sounds gay to me.

  • @Sugiharaluna if it was enabled you would get all the thumbs ups.

  • Hi Peter Can you do high speed videos with the nikon D7000?

  • @JediMichael2003 High shutter speed or capturing high-speed objects? It CAN capture high-speed video, but it can look like it's skipping around and it still has noticeable rolling shutter. If you are looking for a camera for video I'd direct you towards the new Nikon D5100 or a Canon DSLR. I believe there are some Canon mid-grade DSLR's that can capture up to 60fps. One downfall: Nikon camera movie modes can last as long as 20 minutes whereas I believe Canons are limited to 12-15 minutes.

  • greeeeat review sir

  • I appreciate this review, I think it would be more practical for me as a student photographer to get this camera and go with Nikon. I've been juggling whether or not I should pay the extra price for a canon 7D but understanding the price of electronics and how the numbers go down and how new models come out then this would be best. I'm getting this camera because I want a picture/photo specific camera that can do it all that is also cost efficient.

  • I've had the same problem with other adapters being too large and have fixed the "problem" by trimming the rubber/plastic with a pocket knife. Just take it slow, dont vut yourself and it can be cured.

  • Ah! I can see you better! :)

Thanks for the review the same, very helpful!

  • What lens could i use to get the same video quality on the Nikon D7000

  • what the fuck with the RATING DISABLED!

  • @akosimarkjoseph

    Thumbs up

  • love the review

  • *I'm back, and I'm holding a Nikon D7000 on my hand!*

  • I like the depth of field shot on this video and was wondering what setting and lens you used to achieve the effect? thanks!

  • Too much waffle

  • awesome

  • this guy should be doing infomercials. he talks smooth and did 20mins of video in one breath.

    but overall, good stuff.

  • Honest review, he did not pretend to know where the WaZu was, and he does sound effects.

  • it seems canon is best in movie mode

  • Nike-On!! lol yanks..

  • Thanks for the review!

What lens were you using while filming with the d7000 in the begining?

  • hey, great video. do you think they'll ever come out with a d8000??

  • I think you would be good at doing Children's shows :)

Great review by the way. I am definitely considering getting a D7000.

  • good review but this guy is creepy as hell and as soon as he said sony vegas i lost all respect for him

  • great review! it answered all of my questions!

  • what kinda of lens could i use on the d7000 if i wanted the same look as you have showing on this video?

  • Great review. You are like Mr Rogers meet Pro Photographer. Thanks for the pointers.

  • BAD ASS. THIS GUY IS A BAD ASS.

  • fucking retard....

  • homo

  • First time seeing your vids, excellent job man. You're real, I'm real, it's all works. The one thing you might have forgot to mention is the lack of a swiveling screen. For that reason alone I was considering the Canon 60D. For me, the static screen is a HUGE negative as far as flexibility is concerned. Your video did however help me to feel a lot better about my decision.

  • Peter, I appreciate you taking your time for the review

  • Go brush you're stinking rotten yellow teeth

  • @nikonguy102 ive seen worse buddy.. ive seen worse.

  • Very Nice Rambling-

  • Hello I love your videos I wanted to ask do no where to get a Nikon D7000 real cheap I looked everywhere but no luck :( ples help I just don't have 1199$ all of my money just go to my rent I'm saving up I have about 600$ srry I think I'm just going to quit life is so hard I'm make like 7.46 H it's just so hard :..(

  • @Marker1229 It's a newer release, so you probably won't find it cheaper if you want it brand new. You can avoid paying tax if you buy online and some dealers offer free shipping. If you're lucky, you might can find someone selling theirs for a few 100 dollars off in the newspaper or craigslist.

  • okey ?

  • @Azure0080FF Yes, I must have been very stupid to take a phrase like "you myst be a redneck american" as prejudiced. Until you learn to think before saying stupid shit like that, I would prefer to just drop the argument completely. There are very few things that piss me off more than prejudice and negative stereotypes.

  • @Azure0080FF Wow you are a very prejudiced idiot. I am an American, but I am FAR from being a redneck. If you are so ignorant and racist that you feel the need to turn something as trivial as the pronunciation of a camera brand into a rant about how stupid and egocentric you think Americans are, then I have nothing more to say to you.

  • @Azure0080FF

Why the hell every where i look all these europeeons complaining about how Americans pronounce the word (Nikon) Neekon, Nyekon same shit they are damn good brand of cameras thats what its all about.

  • Peter, which do you like better? the Canon 2Ti or the Nikon D7000? I did not hear which you prefer.

  • @Azure0080FF No, it's more like calling you stupid. If Nikon wasn't meant to be pronounced "nye-conn" (as you put it), they wouldn't pronounce it that way in their commercials.

  • You are just too weird. I had to stop watching after a minute and 59 seconds of listening to your femenine voice and ceepy comments.

  • Comment removed

  • 10:00 guess that would be a next firmware update?:D

  • Blah blah blah...I just wasted 20 minutes watching this guy yammer on.

  • This guy is hilarious! Nice video, thanks for the review!

  • i just got mine today :D

check out my channel and watch "electric saturday "BSC".

  • i just got mine today :D

  • hi, if you should compare Nikon D7000, D300s, Canon EOS 7D. Which one is the best?...Could you help me?

    thanks

  • @denisdf He said D7000 it´s better

  • Could you just grind down the side of the plug that is hitting the camera and making it pop out?

  • Hi, I've been saving up for this camera, then im gonna be buying this very soon, what would be the best recommended lens for portrait for D7000? I'm looking at Nikkor 24-70mm, but it's for FX camera. Would the quality be compromise of the conversion something? Or should i go for 17-55mm which is also a pro lens but for DX camera. I wanted to have zoom pro lens, but not the 70-200mm vr II yet. pls reply

  • 12:20 you can get a cable the plug that in to the camera then adapter

  • @birdman4141 word

  • nikon d7000 vs nikon d300s?

don't care about video just raw image quality

  • I don't know why people are obsessing about shallow DoF video. Most will get too frustrated with it to use it beyond dabbling. It's just not a practical proposition for amateurs. Unless you're mostly shooting static scened from a tripod (which amateur videographers almost never are), shooting video with a DSLR is extremely challenging.

  • i want a Nikon 7000d Dx whaaaaa* :(

  • @FrederikMeyer Same here

  • that microphone issue is definitely a deal breaker for me. I am looking at the Canon 60D or this one and between the swivel screen and the video plug in mic hole, it seems like the 60D is better for my needs. I will be using it for video, but my mom is going to split the cost with me because she wants a great quality digital photo camera.

  • i'll give you a thumbs up anyway, nice review. Although i can't belive you couldn't find the focus switch :)

  • You are os cute and fun to watch! Thanks for the review.

  • nikon d7000 is a fail product

  • @GamerzCreed01 um dislike.... it's awesome!!! :P

  • i like the place where the focus selection switch is, it's very intuitive and an ingenius decision by nikon, well done nikon

  • I am not impressed with D7000 , I am upset with action photo,

  • @drariel Get A D3s:O)

  • @drariel

Well maybe you should learn how to use it, maybe a few class on photographic technique. I just got that Nikon D7000, It's an awsome piece of equipement.

  • @atomas59 I never say that D7000 it is not a good camera. the only thing i dont like it. it is not good for action photography because it is only has a small buffer. u can test by yourself put u camera on Ch and keep press shutter button an

  • i just bought it today n it worth it !!

  • @BillieJean900

so you would recomend it then even though its about double the price?

  • better image quality then the eos 550d or 7d?

not so worryed about video just want to take exelent shots is it better?

    please answer.

  • @MrFrankdole 550d is very vad on pictures quality i had it when u zoom in u feel like u took pic with a phone camera , i returned it the same day , not sure about 7D but D7000 has awesome pics for real , even D90

  • Peter,

Thanks for taking the time and sharing your expertise. I found the D7000 video footage less garish than the Canon T2i. Excellent review and nil illegitimi carborundum.

  • nice detail vedio

  • What lens do you have on the 7000?

  • @spearmintmonkey Nikon AF-S 50mm f/1.4 G

  • good quality and informative, thanks!

on the constructive criticism side, way too much trying to be funny and chatty, it wastes time, id prefer to hear about the camera than "look how cute I am" comments. Also waaay to long talking about single things, like the friggin audio jack issue.

    tx

  • Good video.

  • Good video.

  • how many words in 20min vid!!! o.O' You should done it in 5 minutes

  • The Nikon D7000 is a great body, but NOT better than the Canon 7D. I own both and the only thing that I REALLY like better about the D7000 is the price.

  • @TAMB0rUrBAN0 Wow!! My friend feels the opposite!! I thought the 7D is better!! Man! But he loves the D7000

  • @jackies35 The 7D is definitely better.

  • @TAMB0rUrBAN0 I totally agree with you!

  • Oh my, what a creepy guy

  • WOW! The video does the look a bit the same... I couldn't tell if you really changed or not.

I guess the Canon T2i is no joke! Totally awesome.

Now, did you list the microphone you are using? Also, if you a recording 3 people who is singing and dancing on stage, how do get the lens to stay focus? Also, the motor of the lens is very noisy!

    Thanks!

  • !!!!Hey, Its Uncle Buck!!!!

  • Meet stunning plump women in your locate naneedj.info

  • you know what you fucked up that camera with your explanation.

its amaizing dslr camera and the best in the markets so far.

  • what are your spects....to buy the d7000 or the d300s?

  • I thought this was Andy Rooney. Anyways Nikon rules

  • Very good insight, outstanding review. You break down the information and perspective on the camera in a very useful way.

  • When is the D400 coming out?

  • PEDO!

  • i will disagree with this pro, this camera is not a d90 upgrade as the d90 will continue to appear within the nikon range

  • @atyl1972

    wrong-the d90 is now obsolete

  • @markd514 no you're wrong cos nikon are still selling this camera alongside the d7000, get your facts right before you comment

  • @atyl1972

The d90 is obsolete to ME. They may very certainly be selling it, which is fine. That is not the point I was making

  • @markd514 ok fair enough, i had the d90 before and it is a excellent camera and still sets the benchmark though for the beginning of the revolution in hd video in dslr cameras, and still to this day has a better review rating than the d7000, but boy i do like this and may get this in like.......6.5 hrs

  • Thank you very much for your great review. I like it more than others.

  • buy a second plug and shave it off evenly where it does not completely remove the insulation around the headphone/mic jack and it should solve the problem. just replicate the surroundings of the hole plug in the camera.

    good luck.

  • Great Review Peter...Thanks a lot

  • total pedofile

  • @georgiaboyinak lol!

  • I just bought the D7000 and upgraded from the D60, its almost overwhelming!

  • do we have to get separate mic for video or it has built in mic :S i'm confused!

  • @gamzun i found it :) it got built in mono for stereo we need external :)

  • this guy is creapy!

  • Great review! Thanks.

  • This review was very good, kept my attention the whole time, I didnt even know 20 minutes went by

  • Very nice job, just one point: one of your minuses is the audio input is off center, however, there are two imputs, one for audio, one for GPS. Is it possible that your camera is one of the very first batches that didn't have the GPS input? With the GPS input the two inputs are centered.......great post though.

  • Bing! Ahhhhhhh! I don't know if I want a camera that makes sounds like this...

  • 'im back' ... AHHHHHHHH!
