Yeah, definitely different from aphex twin. His stuff is much more repetitive, more like regular dance/trance music just that it has similar sounds to this music, while this music has a must more diverse, complex structure--this makes Autechre more difficult to follow for those who are not very musically inclined, but those who can usually prefer this.

Some, like Autechre or Aphex fans, it's sometimes an alternate mentality, but for some it's still just for listening. I can see why someone could come across this type of music and not understand it. Autechre is exactly that "programming" and they're talented at it. Much the same way someone could be called "talented" at guitar.
