I've read that Turgenev, who was admirer of Viardo said many times that Iretckaya (the teacher of Slobodskaya) was the best pupil of Viardo, so listening to Slobodskaya we can listen to the best type of singing of the 19th century... Thank you CharlotteinWeimar!!!
It could be Percy Kahn [1880-1966] who I know worked and recorded with her and many other leading singers, including Melba, Austral, Tetrazzini, Hislop, Tauber, McCormack and Caruso.
She must have travelled to Paris with Chaliapin it must have also been with Diaghilev. Diaghilev was the one who brought Chaliapin and the Russians to Paris.
