i am trying to learn how to drive stick. do you have to do this while down shifting in normal conditions or is this only for racing. also why do you have to heel to toe cant you just down shit normally? and how do you know when you have to heel to toe is it when the car reaches a certain rpm?
This is the third video I've seen which doesn't mention double-clutch at all. The only way for heel and toe to be of any benefit is to do it in this order...brake, clutch out, neutral, clutch in, blip the throttle, clutch out again, new lower gear, clutch in, Anything else is a waste of time and you're not doing what you think you are.
good vid man. I think everyone does it differently I've seen some one do it with their heel on the brake and toe hitting the gas lol. when I learned this technique I tryed all the different ways, the book way of doing it like you are, which feels good. but I usually do it the other way, with my whole foot covering thje brake and I move my entire foot sideways to hit the throttle. idk it works great for me. ppl that have bigger feet should do it your way tho.
@cyclist14 yea I have alot of friends who want to learn they all have big feet and they see how i do it and they are like, there is noway i can heel & toe so they just get upset about it and say i dont need it lol. I just tell them to do it your way, I mean it works who cares what it looks like right.
@SprinterGTApex i got a small foot so i use the toe for the gas too lol don't sweat it mang, def feels weird too when i have my toe on the brake and hit the gas w/ the heel

This is the way i'm used to doing:
Brake . Clutch In . Blip . Downshift . Release Clutch . Release Brake . Gas
:) Blip before the downshift

you blip first then change into a lower gear this is not a good video mate!

I would suggest looking at how the pros do it as opposed to the keen enthusiast
Cut and paste this into the video to watch at the top klMur6TPkrM&feature=fvw

I'll be getting a new pedal set soon with a much wider gas pedal, that'll make this technique a lot safer.

i prefer to rotate my heel over to blip the throttle by rotating on the ball of my foot thats braking...i'll have to give your technique a try :-)
