  • Omg T_____T Both so amazing!!

  • Claire Moore is amazing. Sadly absent from our stages these days...

  • Incredible voices <3

  • this is such a tear jerker... beautiful voices.

  • to be honest I watched it like 200 times in 2 days

  • Is that liz callaway?

  • @jeffersonpogi29 This is Claire Moore from the original London production. :)

  • my tears blocked my nose...

  • This is one of my favorite songs from this show. Just two powerful voices kicking the crap out of this song. FANTASTIC!

  • Both women did wonderful. I love this.

  • I'm so crying right now...

  • Magnificent by both performers BRILLANT

  • best musicalsong ever

  • I have so many issues with this musical but it gave us a young Lea Salonga so I ignore the flaws and just listen to her parts. Maybe the writing and casual racism could have been rescued if they had chosen someone other than Bowman who may have one of the least romantic theater voices I've ever heard. I wish there were more recordings with Lea and another Chris.

  • @terribithiajjls12 I don't know your age or your ethnicity, maybe you are young and never heard about the seedier side of war of war for civillians. There have been various conflicts where the servicemen have left behind a great number of women who were to rear children single handed and left at a social disadvantage thanks to their children being bastards in a legal sense.Maany women were left in Britain and Europe when their American/Canadian lovers went off to fight or returned home.

  • @TZEITEL10 It was the same story in Vietnam, the composers of this show wrote the story, based on Madame Butterfly,as a result of seeing a photo showing a tearful family watch as the mixed race daughter of a Vietnamese mother is taken against her will to join her American family.

Lets be honest ,the bar girls were just a lay to most of these men,the lyric writer is American and a former soldier so i expect he knows what hes writing about, and the language he uses is their language.

  • @TZEITEL10 I'm not sure how that's a response to my disliking the simplistic lyrics and some of the vocals of the main cast.

  • Prettiest song in the show - balance of the voices is great but Claire Moore takes it

  • @migrsm I guess you & 78kljk disagree. He wants to delete Moore from the duet & just have Lea sing the whole song. I don't think it'll work so I disagree with him. I think Claire did well in this song. The singers have different singing style & I disagree w/ you. The many times I've seen Lea in a duet, she takes the cake. No less than the two writers, director, and producer of Miss Saigon agree w/ me. But what do they know?

  • CHRIS. Choose carefully. :P

  • I wish that someone would do a little judicious editing and turn this into a solo for Ms. Salonga. Her performance of it is so fantastic....and it's nearly the perfect song for everyone who has ever lost a love and can't give up the hope that it will return. But I'd give a great deal to hear it turned into a solo....after all, someone did it with "For Good" which is a duet from "Wicked".........

  • I love miss saigon and lea salonga!!! She is my role model and hopefully when i grow up i can have a chance to perform on stage as my career!!!

  • The original cast is truly remarkable! Lea was just perfect for the lead role. So much talent!

  • Beyond beautiful

  • Mr. Cameron Mackintosh, please consider a reunion of Miss Saigon, ala. Les Mis 25. You'll make millions of people very happy. (You'll make millions of dollars too, if that still matters.)

  • I really love Lea Salonga, i can't complete my day without listening to her voice.... I love you lea..Kee up the good work...

  • @H1delta well, thanks.... I just like Lea Salonga nag broadway musics

  • I'm sorry I didn't know.. I'm only 14

  • @smallsis222 You commenting on this shows you have excellent taste. Bless your young heart.

  • Awesome Ms. Lea Salonga (kim).i am so proud of u..Raise the Philippine Flag..BEautiful voice..

  • this is broadway...

  • @smallsis222 This was performed live on Wogan's TV show in London. It did not reach Broadway for another two years.

  • This is real fucking singing. Peace!

  • This song made me cry...sooooo beautiful

  • I. Am not...Crying. At all.

    -coughcough- It's allergies I swear!

  • This play brings to my mind a quote from Euripides, "Why is there no mark engraved upon men's bodies by which we could know the true ones from the false ones" If only =/

  • i cant sing ellen's part without cracking. -_-;

  • all the man really did in this vid is lie down naked..... how nice....

    just saying...

  • Lea <3333333333 Her voice gives me goosebumps.

  • wow both these women killed it! AMAZING.

  • so who did chris choose at the end??

  • Comment removed

  • @H1delta oh kk thanx :)

  • @RUAmplified But he did (at least in front of her) choose his wife, she asked him (also a song) if he wanted to be with her or him, he basically said he didn't really know himself and in trying to make sense of the mess going on in Vietnam he found Kim and tried to save her but couldn't so it haunted him but he still loved his wife and was going to be with her and offer Kim and Tam monetary support but like H1 said, before he could TRULY decide with Kim being a option, she shot herself.

  • @QTipbandit :,( so tragic... I feel the song now

  • oh my god!!! crying crying crying

  • i love it!

  • Was this the end of the first part of the play? I saw it on Broadway almost 20 years ago (high school!), but this song made a great impression on me...and I find it so hard not to mouth the words and make dramatic gestures (and I'm a dude!) even after not hearing it for two decades.

  • Don't mind me, I'm just over here drowning in my tears. No big deal.

  • I'm a girl btw despite my name cause I'm using my dads but my dream is to be Kim I'm an ok singer I can hit all her notes but there's 1 problem I'm not Asian so I think my dream won't work but hopefully I can be eponine in the west end XD if I pray real hard

  • I can NOT watch this without shedding a tear. These two ladies are SO powerful, their love and what they each feel is SO heartfelt - just one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever seen performed on the stage. Simply Beautiful. Thank You!!

  • I think me a lea were meant to be heh hehh

  • high note on 2:57 excellent!!!!!!

  • Effortless singing! i got goosebumps watching kim/lea hit those high notes like nothing.

  • My favorite all time duet, cast from my favorite musical...others may come and go but this one sticks...

  • i love this song,it gives me a feeling that i am right there in the scene

  • i wish i could hear her angelic voice in person..

    shes so gorgeous.!

  • I was lucky enough to see Miss Saigon in Broadway when I was like 12. The thing I most remember was the wire fence and the helicopter! haha

  • I love that they perform it as a scene from the show - as opposed to just singing the song. Makes it more emotional. Miss Saigon is one of my faves. Thanks for this!

  • This is absolutely stunning!

Does anyone know how old Lea is here? She looks super young...

  • @BloomAndGrow she's only 18 years old in this video..

  • this is one of my favorite songs in Ms. Saigon :) it was so pure and full of emotion

Lea has one of the most beautiful voices that make you want to listen to her over and over, :), or so that what happened to me.

  • got me crying like a baby yet again, so beautiful. an emotional rollercoaster of a musical all should go see and enjoy ty for posting ruel :))))

  • I love Lea Salonga's Kim - one of the most heartfelt songs I've ever heard

  • Unbelievabely beautiful- there is nothing more to say. Thank you for showing us how it should be sung!

  • the original LEA. hehe. yeah.

  • One of my fave songs! I love how Kim and Ellen's lyrics contrasted and complimented each other. ^_^

  • lea salonga forever

  • perfect

  • i just keep on listening this song! really love it!

  • You are the best Lea!!!

  • wow

  • No one will ever beat these two

  • really wonderful!

  • who's the other woman here? other than lea I mean.... she sings good

  • @Maranedy the one with Chris is Claire Moore

  • @kittykat002 thanks

    ^^

  • still stuns me that Lea Salonga was only 18 when she played Kim... and Claire Moore is amazing! they both sound fantastic together!

  • I love this song because both Kim and Ellen require voices that can seriously belt and I love good belting more than anything so hearing to incredible singers belt at the same time is amazing!!!!!!!!!

  • @mamone92 except that neither of them are really belting...they're power mixing queens.

  • still gives me the goose bumps!

  • lea salonga is absolutely gorgeous!! she has that sustained innocence and youth in her...in her appearance and in her voice...its amazing <3<3

  • @catiecop hi! it was showing in Hamilton in June..they'll be showing it in the Civic in Auckland City next year from last week of May up to the 2nd week of June i think. :) it won't be an international cast since they just held the auditions for next year's show here in Auckland last month. but it should still be good :D

  • Lea Salonga is pure vocal perfection!!

  • oh my God, lea salonga is absolutely amazing. and at such a young age!

  • She is my insparation! i love her!

  • was this the time when she was recovering from nodules?

  • Are there any two voices more perfect for this song? I think not.

  • I can listen to this song (especially in this version) forever. One of the most moving musical songs if you ask me! What a talent!

  • she is so amazing

    and she was only 18

    imagine that !

she is really one of the best

  • she is amazing...

  • Wow! Goosebumps all over. Just beautiful! Thanks for posting this video, ruel1018. 5/5!

  • beautiful combination of voices

  • The contrast in each woman's heart is ironically well-harmonied in the entire song. Truly a masterful composing!

  • @tojnkim I DO AGREE....SUCH CONTRAST, BUT WELL-BLENDED

  • Lea Salonga has one of the most beautiful voices to date now that her voice has fully matured into something god-like, but for some reason I just cannot listen to her sing this song after it matured, it just sounds so much less angelic to me and innocent. I wish I could've seen her perform in Miss Saigon at this point in her career

  • i understand what you feel but we cannot escape the truth that her voice will mature, it is inevitable, good thing her voice is becoming more beautiful, have you heard her sing :anything for you" original of gloria estefan, she is so young then ahaha cute voice ©™

  • Goose bumps, one of my favourites from this musical thank you for sharing.x

  • thanks for viewing jeanstar ©™

  • This is gorgeous! What great contrasting voices....Emotional

  • correct and im loving it so, i used to sing ellen"s part way back years ago hihihihi ©™

  • Who else does the BOM BOM BOM's at the end?lol

My sis and I when we were teens, would sing this all the time. I miss it.

  • very beautiful rendition....kim's so angelic
