  • I have just got a Cross country and East coast HST for Christmas and they are just superb, check my vid out.

  • Does it have a working fan on the roof?

  • @intercity112255 this model doesn't, no.

  • hi intercity i am such a big fan of you. your set is awesome now if it weren't for you i would not be getting the train set that i am getting for Christmas the reason for that is you told you-tubers about trident trains website now i cant visit the store A i don't no were it is B if its near london then i cant visit because i live in kent romeymarsh if u have ever heard of it so i will be uploading a video of my new train set on Christmas day bye

  • @joshbobjim1 - thanks for the comment! A train set on Christmas day hey?! Well that sounds perfect haha let me know when you put the video up! Merry Christmas :)

  • Thanks Will, no doubt when I'm fuddled with couplings or find a coach with no seats, you'll be the first to know :) We'll look forward to more videos, Jaycen is addicted to the pendolino one at the moment... He has no idea what he'll be opening on Christmas day! Have a great Christmas!

  • @sledgin - that is truly excellent :) haha, the little tyke. He'll love it!

  • Hi, as christmas is coming up i'd like to save up for a hst. when you say they're smooth runners, do you mean better than your class 153 or worse?

Id like to be sure because my 153 has been having some wheelslip on a hill on my track.

nice video though, when i buy the 43 does it come with coaches?

  • @intercity112255 - the HSTs are amazing - it's almost impossible to fault them. And they're really strong too - you will love it! Coaches sold seperately.

  • My son is 3 and loves your videos! I've just bought him his first Hornby train for Christmas and have been told for the past year that it's 'the pendolino, the pendolino!' Thankfully the new Astom has been released so I've bought him that. Was wondering if you have it and/or will be reviewing it? Thanks for your videos, I think we've both seen them all now :)

  • @sledgin - I won't be getting it no, sorry but other people already have done videos on it. I'm glad you both like the videos and I shall do my best to keep it that way :) If I can ever help with anything, just let me know!

  • I have the old one. 1978 i believe. it recently caught fire and now needs to be repaired. check out my recent video if you like :)

    nice video anyway :)

  • is this the same InterCity 125 from that one funny advert?

  • @microbusss - haha! you mean the one with the police train? yes

  • @InterCity82 oooooo I want it! & the Police loco The video is in here too XD

  • i just found my intercity 125 train in a box thats been in there since 1982 , how do you find out if its the dummy car or the power car as mine doesnt work and i only have one of them

  • @TheGhostOfPainsey - open it up and look inside ;)

  • @InterCity82

I used to use these sleaves when Hornby first brought DCC out, as they did not say not to use them now. But then they said not to so I don't fit them with them anymore.

  • Where can you get a Sound Decoder for this HST?

  • @midrange18 - I believe Howes make sound chips for it. Just search around on Google.

  • do you know how to change the motor on my inter city

  • @MrTaggert100 - that depends on the model. There are several different versions of the 'intercity' and that's assuming you mean a Class 43. I recommend taking it to your local model shop and seeing what they say.

  • Why the hell do do british outline manufacturers still totaly ruin a great model by fitting it with those horrible tension locks!! Makes me realsie again why i dumped UK outline into touch 7 years ago. US based models are so much better to look at. I was really looking forward to that new HST, I would have bought it as its so iconic, but its totaly screwed up with that coupling bar under the air tanks.

  • @formidable38

How do they ruin the model? The couplings are good, easly removable and they work. There is nothing wrong with them!

  • @ClassA4Mallard Well im sorry but after looking at American outline stuff for about the last 6 years or so now, all of which comes fitted with a nice scale knuckle coupler, the tension locks just look like shit! They dont even remotely resemble anything on the prototype and compared with a Kadee coupler, they dont work either. Ive got loco's from MTH that can open a knuckle coupler on the loco anywhere on my layout with the press of an 'F' key on my throttle. Thats what you call realism.

  • @formidable38

Well I must admit, they don't look amazing! The Knuckle Couplers do sound quite intresting, but I'm going to stick with the tension lock ones for now. You could still buy British locos though as they have NEM Couelings which are removeable and you can change them.

  • @formidable38 Then don't buy one you fekkin loser...

  • @formidable38 Stop being an asshole. If you have nothing good to say then STFU!

  • @clusterfak Youtube is all about free speech and anyone is entitled to their opinion, good or bad. If you have a problem with that then i suggest you stay away from youtube. Il say what i fuckin like you jumped up liitle prick so STFU!

  • @formidable38 LOL loser!

  • @clusterfak That the best you can do? Your obviously about 12 so i wont bother wasting anymore keystrokes on you little boy! Run along and play now, theres a good lad.

  • @formidable38 LOL loser! You gotta get outa your mom's basement more LOL!

  • @formidable38 So...you're a wanker AND a truck-driver...gee what a surprise!

  • class i have one in the first great western livery

  • Hornby - inventors of the Mk3 DVT!

  • nice vid man!!

  • Are there any USA retailers that sell these?

  • Perhaps my favourite locomotive.

  • I just wanted to know do the already fited locos have jackets on them?

  • @LegoArtsProduction - not as far as I know - but then I've only opened up one I think as I tend to avoid ready-fitted locos - preferring to do them myself.

  • @LegoArtsProduction i think they dont but on my class 43 they had a polly bag over decoder after it was chipped.

  • Does anyone know how to fix loose traction tyres? i have the old 1978 hornb ic125 (apart from this problem, in perfect condition.)

  • @trainmania100 - the best thing is to replace them. Spares can be ordered from most model shops and even Hornby themselves.

  • i am buying a sound one for £120 and i do a weekly video and i will be have a new video with this and a Bachmann voyageur, check it out soon

  • @Modelrail02 - I'll check out your channel now :)

  • I have the old one, it stops at random parts of the track and fishplates are ok. do you know how to fix this? and also do you know how to remove the oil from traction tyres on these locos? Thanks ic125.

  • @trainmania100 - check the track is clean. Check the wheels are clean too. Oil can easily be removed using a bit of kitchen towel and some track cleaner if required.

  • how many coaches are you going to get?

  • @littleD52 - not sure yet. Quite a few!

  • I have to say this is one of the best trains ever! I am getting this for my birthday next year in swallow livery! (if it's still in stock by then, I'm sure it will be!)

  • hey inter city can you inter view a train called danald duck its german but i dont know what its like

  • hornby should redo this style of box

  • is that an inter city 125 cool ilove that very interesting i like this nice train

  • weirdly on my hst if i press function 1 on the dynamis system it dims the lights in the dummy unit . just wondering if i am alone on this problem or is it a hornby thing , it doesnt say anything on it in the instructions which worries me . !

  • @bachmannman96 - what decoder are you using in the that unit?

  • @InterCity82 im using a bachmann one not sure about the function number :/

  • @bachmannman96 - I'm afraid it's impossible for me to help as I don't use the Dynamis system and I don't have Bachmann chips in my HSTs. All I can recommend if you swap the chip for another one and maybe even try a different controller too. It could be that your current Bachmann chip is faulty. It may even be that your current controller by Dynamis is faulty. You need to do something called 'process of elimination' and eliminate what's not wrong until you find out what is. :)

  • Good video mate i used to like trains many years ago

but iam hooked to civil aviation now :)

my favourite has always been the British Rail Class 43 (HST) and 4472 flying Scotsman.

hope to see more video reviews from you

they really good very detailed and entertaining

    thanks for sharing mate :)

  • @avaitionnerd111 - glad you like them! Thanks :)

  • Can you still buy these Inter City `125`s new, ive been in touch with Hornby and they say "no longer produced" , got a link to anywhere that still sells pls ? cheers

  • @wotyagot - I got this train pack almost 2 years ago so I'm afraid I don't know if you can still get it but I very much doubt every single pack in the World has been sold. There must be some still about somewhere, just check out shops like Hattons, Trident Trains, Rails of Sheffield, Olivia's Trains, Amazon and even eBay.

  • @InterCity82 The blue grey ones are rarer than hen's teeth! I've been trying to find a set and can't' find one anywhere. I guess the only thing is to keep checking ebay but they'll be getting premium prices as there are so few of them around. And I'm stuck with a full formation of Mk3s and no power cars to go with them!

  • @InterCity82 finally found one from Joto in Rugby after checking out all the above, dont understand why Hornby dont make them anymore when they are obviously popular.anyhoo, cheers for the help

  • How much is it?

  • @mrthelionbeast - they can be picked up for between £70 and £140 (huge variation in price - so shop around!)

  • How long do u ran a train in for

  • @Liverpoolfcfever - you run in a new locomotive for about 30 minutes in each direction.

  • hi, i want a passenger train which costs under £100. which passenger train do you reccomend?

  • @captaincoolpants11 - I recommend going for a DMU such as the class 101 by Hornby or the class 170 by Bachmann.

  • What dose DCC Ready mean.

  • @mrthelionbeast - you mean 'does'? DCC ready means the loco is ready to be fitted with a DCC chip. There's basically a socket for it inside the loco.

  • do dcc fitted trains work with analogue controller

  • @shwanrasoul - I do not recommend you mix them at all. Keep DC controllers for DC trains and keep DCC controllers for DCC trains. I am very sure about this. DO NOT MIX THEM - no need to. Simple as.

  • Nice opening video as usual :) I like the 70/80s livery best, like you. Do you know if they do the 43 in Midland Mainline livery? That is a very, very nice set :)

  • @2002And - they do (or rather, did) and I have a video on it coming up :)

  • @InterCity82 Awesome, I can't wait to see it :)

  • I still found it strange that these sets have no middle cars. You don't see that with other brands.

  • @Maasdam1993 - to include any actual coaches would make the cost even higher tho. Meaning a lot pf people would have to save up for even longer. I suppose they sell the coaches separately so you can save up for them separately and buy only the ones you want/need.

  • @InterCity82 Also I find a lot of people already have the coaches that are needed with the HSTs

  • I find this a great model but I think it is a bit on the pricey side, then you need to get the coaches and they cost about £20 each so I think it is just a lot of money. Great video by the way. :)

  • @ipodwindow - true, she isn't cheap but easily one of the most impressive trains I have. The quality is amazing and she's definitely due for another review I think! :)

  • @GrandCentral180112 - that would up the price tho. Making the set close to £200. Plus you'd get people that already have loads of coaches complaining they don't need anymore. You can't win really. :)

  • great vid should i buy it

  • are both bogies powered on the motor car?

  • @SuperJimjoe - there is a central motor which drives both bogies

  • I am going to get in GNER livery. How much is each coach?

  • @SuperJimjoe - individual coaches can be picked up from £12 if they're on offer or about £22 usually. Some places are charging abotu £26 to £30 but that's a little steep really.

  • @SuperJimjoe get them while you can, as all the gner stuff for sale is the last batch made!

  • This video is 1 of the best ones I've seen

  • @Mattypokemon - lol this was one of my first videos! Time to redo it I think!

  • nice video matey im saving up for one in gner livery

  • @125GNER - nice! It'll look smart :)

  • Do you not get any coaches with it? I f not that is a bit too expensive don't you think?

  • @SuperJimjoe - These models are incredible, very, very impressive and worth every penny.

  • Can you do a bid showing you chipping and programming both loco's as I'm a bit confused about chipping both and how to programme the together. Thanks, Ieuan

  • @istich123 - a brand new video showing a loco being chipped is just days away :)

  • I have the original model of this, unfortunately the motors fried and it won't run. The headlights come on, but no-one's home!

  • were do you get the trains?

  • @hexbugkids48 - local shops and online

  • im getting one off ebay

  • That looks awsome. Is it DCC ready and do they still have it in stock?

  • @LegoArtsProduction - you can still get her and she is DCC ready or DCC fitted :)

  • Now hopefully getting one of these for my birthday!(instead of the NSE class 50!)

  • Hello. I just got this set, but in the Virgin livery. When I first ran it, it made sounds, including the horn sound - but it has stopped since. Why is this? I checked the instructions and it definately has the little DC chip where it should be so I'm not sure why it stopped making the noise. Can you help?

  • @BigGigantos did you press the sound of button?

  • @modellerman I didn't know there was a button?!!! Can't see anything on the instructions. Where's that then?

  • @BigGigantos do you hav dcc

  • @BigGigantos - Sound??? If you have this locomotive/train pack and it's making sounds or at least used to make sounds then that means that someone has fitted sound to it. They cannot be bought pre-fitted with sound. They come either DCC ready or DCC fitted. Sound would have to be installed by someone else.

  • @InterCity82 I SWEAR to god....it was making the horn noise for the first couple of times I ran it. I opened it up to see if there was anything broken. I found nothing but the little chip is where it should be.

I picked it from a display case in the shop. It was the only one they had so I had the one in the case. Is it possible therefore that I didn't get something entirely new? I'm totally new to all this by the way so I'm grateful for any advice you can give me!

    Thanks,

    Tony.

  • @BigGigantos - all I can tell you is that this model from Hornby is not done in sound. It just isn't. I've checked on the Hornby website and they have never released a class 43 HST with sound. So if it has sound, it has been fitted by someone else.

  • @InterCity82 Thanks for that. In that case, it must have been fitted with sound before it was put in the case. It didn't even have the little 'transit secure tag' on it. I just need to try and find out why it's stopped making the noise now.

  • @BigGigantos Dude if it came with sound...rejoice!

  • @clusterfak Well I was rejoicing, til it just....stopped!

  • Great i have the gner one and she runs so well i think its my best loco/unit

  • awsome loco!:)

  • @conor5643 - I don't think I'll be getting any sets - but I will be getting individual locos and maybe some coaches/wagons.

  • What Coaches Go Well With It?

  • @nintendoalien479 - 70s and 80s MK3s

  • i think its a shame they dont come with a couple of carrages like they used to but they are much better models

  • @cornettoman6 - I suppose if they came with anything extra then the cost would be even higher and they may struggle to sell them. Especially to people that already have coaches perhaps.

  • @conor5643 - thanks!

  • so awsome i have just got the pendolino

  • @zeelob12 - the Pendolino is also awesome :)

  • after getting a pile of money of my uncle (£900) who lives in england i live in Austria what trains do you recommend i buy

  • @2mirman - quite literally anything that takes your fancy :) get what you like the look of - I do all the time

  • i have £120 and im getting a dcc controller for £52 wat train shuld i get which iss dcc ready i like 9fs 20s and a4 which one or differant?!

  • @modellerman - I definitely recommend the class 9F - she's amazing

  • I'm getting a FGW class 43 HST for christmas.

  • @HornbyGuru170 - nice! :D You'll love her

  • im getting it for christmas wippe year

  • @MrHornbyman66153love - oh excellent :D

  • I love your videos I've watched every single video you've ever made.

  • @HornbyGuru170 - wow - that must have taken ages

  • i just got the GNER one yestaday, the garuds windows fell in!, going to need to open her up!

  • @itgamer100 - ahh yes - happened to me too!!!

  • how many straights would you need to use if you were putting forty miles into 00 gauge?

  • @A10ACTION - lol, I have no idea. But it is all to scale so it should be possible to work out if you go on Hornby's site for instance.

  • can you still buy these with the 'see through' vents & DCC lights?

Did you get it DCC Ready or DCC Fitted?

  • @eanat11 - This HST, in the 70s/80s livery is still available at most good model shops, both off and online. You can buy her DCC fitted or DCC ready.

  • @InterCity82 yay!

  • i love your vidio's and layout im your biggest fan

  • @MrHornbyman66153love - lol thanks :)

  • cool

  • my GNER one fell of the table the bogie snapped and i glued it back one.then the fan on top which can off got blue tacked on and i left it for a week and put it on and it still works

  • @houndog1372 - crikey

  • That's IT? A description and a lot of talking?

Damn you man, I want to see it running! Boo :*(

  • @Staratino - haha. Well, funny you should say that, but this was one of my first ever videos. A re-make is in order I feel. :)

  • @Staratino i disagree i agree with will

  • @teddystorm1 Yeah I was only joking. I think he got that.

  • did you ever find out what those plastic bits were.

  • @123garryharry - not sure to be honest

  • they look much bigger than my ones how big r they

  • @A10ACTION - dimensions are on Hornby's site

  • they have varriants of these in australia called countrylink XPT

  • @DaRkCaBoOdLe137 - really? wow

  • Beautiful...

  • @EsotericDesi01 - 100% agree

  • got to love the new HST i have the gner one 5star for showing

  • @LeedsRHINOS75 - thanks! Yup, it's a 5 star train :)

  • Umm on the description instead of saying first it says fist.

  • would a dcc train work without a dcc controller

  • @A10ACTION - yes, just about, but it might not like it. But the question is really, why? Most locos can be bought in both DCC and DC form. And even DCC ones can have their chips temporarily removed.

  • @InterCity82 so it could possibly not work with it plus i dont know if its dcc fitted yet just making sure thanks for all your help

  • do you have hornbys track cleaning car

  • @matanuialive2010 - no, just the Peco one

  • I Like It How Much Does That Cost??

  • @ThePborodan - I think it was £120
