@Ptro001 surprisingly the rifle he is using does not have much recoil in the prone position, the muzzle break is extremely effective, it has a lot of internal recoil absorption, bi-pod increases friction against the ground...and the gun weighs a crap ton lol.....pretty sweet design really. :) i have a friend who has one and his 10 yr old nephew shoots it without any reservations lol

@123backinyerface No they were designed to kill people and break stuff. The 50 cal that you are thinking about to "take out an engine’s" is the desert eagle 50 cal pistol. It was designed for use by the Israelis for shooting an engine block of a vehicle trying to ram a checkpoint because the rifle rounds they used, 5.56 and 7.62, would not penetrate the steal block of an engine and stop the vehicle.

@LoJo319 it's currently used primarily to take out vehicles or LAV's. obviously, it can and will be used for taking out personnel. your standard 7.62 and 5.56 62 gr ball ammo will do significant damage to an engine block. as will a 12 ga slug. the more commonly used anti-personnel sniper rifle is the m40. with the max effective range of about 1000 yds, it has enough range for most missions. i don't think Magnum Research designed the d.e. for anything other than hunting or recreational shooting.

12 gauge vs. 50 BMG.... I would not say the 12 kicks harder, but the pressure all around you goes up a lot more, you can feel it in your chest. The 50 BMG recoil is pretty light actually (I have put several hundred rounds through my own). So IMHO there is not a real need to dig your toes/feet in if you are full size man. I have seen this military position before, but attribute it to getting into alignment of the scope without cranking the bipod up (maintaining a low profile).
