such a pity for stupid assholes like xxflyingsoulxx101 commenting something that is wrong. how many times do i have to say?? go and check the damn ISU GUIDE VIDEO ON ALL JUMPS. FLIP IS SUPPOSE TO HAVE A SLIGHT EDGE LIKE YUNA NOT A DEEP EDGE LIKE MAO ASADA AND WHEN DID I MENTION LIP? WHY ARE YOU MENTIONING NAMES LIKE CAROLINA?
what I love about Yuna's skating is that her jumps are all connected with transitions....some of the other skaters just jump jump jump...well it doesn't look as graceful and flowy as Yuna's programs. I think David Wilson and Yuna Kim are really well matched together!!!!
Also, what? Not having a textbook jump doesn't mean there is no way you can execute the jump without falling. Hell, Alissa Czisny is one skater from the top of my head that I've seen land lips. Have you never seen CaroZ when she used to have some of the scariest jumping technique figure skating had ever seen? Please. I suggest you don't follow these so called experts blindy, sumimimi0. They are doing you a disservice if you want to undertand how jumping mechanics work.
(cont) when doing a flip jump. Go tell that to any real figure skating expert and they'll laugh in your face. This whole textbook flip jump fabrication is friggin hilaious.
She finally got the edge at the right time. Good for her. But now with all the rule changes, judges are a lot pickier now. Flat edge is considered a wrong edge. I hope she still can do it in time for worlds.
There is no need for arguing with this "pinto" guy it's pointless, plus this video clearly shows that Yuna takes off in a straight and slight inside edge into her triple flip. There are other videos for people to watch on YT that clearly show what a flip and a lip is and Yuna is generally used in those video examples to show the viewer or the student what a proper jump take off is. It's a perfect jump take off into a beautiful triple flip!
@MisterBokeh Really? Then there are going to be some unfortunate people learning their flip the incorrect way, because Yu-Na's definitely does not take off from a backward inside edge. I suggest a different view. Then look at another skater who does do the flip properly (at least edge wise)...for example, Joannie. ;)
@xxflyingsoulxx101 Are you serious man? I just watched both Joannie and Yuna...bot of them did text book flip....so what your point? Oh right, you don't have one....
@MisterBokeh Ha...You're blind. Quit listening to Scott Hamilton and those videos people keep posting up claiming that Yu-Na has a so called "textbook" flip. The flip takes off from a backward INSIDE edge, she DOESN'T. That's my point. Here the view isn't clear at all, so I suggest a front view. Oh and maybe an instructional video from expert village? Some pictures of an inside edge from a skating blade? Sit down, check them out, and learn.
@xxflyingsoulxx101 she does. a slight inside edge, which is considered a textbook jump according to the isu video. maybe you should sit down, check them out, and learn. cause there was a slow replay about that jump, perfectly inside edge. deep inside edge is not a good jump. people like joannie and yuna, have slight inside edge with mohawk turn is a textbook jump.
@sumimimi0 I don't think so. I've been following this sport for a LONG time, I've been lucky to have had significantly well informed coaches coach me in the past; and I'm pretty damn sure (from watching past great skaters - from a time when 99.9% of the top skaters in the world were required to have clear, crisp edging due to figures) that I know the difference between an inside edge from an outside edge. You completely lost me when you said having a deep, true inside edge is not ideal. (cont)
@xxflyingsoulxx101 I sort of agree with you. You should definitely have a "true" inside edge on a flip take-off, but you don't really want a really deep inside edge.
her flip looks better than before. cant say out or in from this vid. but its still very flat, thats for sure. no worth that high GOE for this. and she doesnt jump immediately after step.
@TheYousum You are either BLIND as a door nob or you are a Yuna Kim hater....that was a triple flip moron....why don't you play it in super slow mode...it's text book flip...
@pinto89100 then who has the textbook flip??? if brian orser, peggy flemming, and even scott hamilton and miki ando has agreed her flip is the best and textbook you should stop arguing
Much better than A's pre-lotated flip. Her flip is text book and another class. She kept the slight inside edge during the jump. It's like the men.

hey just look that video it is just inside edge. what did you see ?
I'm sure she isn't a kind of skaters who bring wrong edge lutz or lip on her program.

Freeze the video at the moment that she toe picks. It's a shallow back inside edge which makes it a flip.

@ TheYousum that's an inside edge...

@st4l10n43v4 No, TheYousum is right, Yu-Na is on the wrong edge.
CrimsonVibrato 1 year ago
This isn't flip. This is lip with wrong edge.
Go out, poor commenter who can't distinguish between flip and lip.
I oppose that judge take edge error too strictly,
but this 3F don't deserve plus GOE 1.2
