Rather, he used HGH (human growth hormone) and blood transfusions. So when he was "caught" for testosterone, he was flabbergasted and confused. He finished 9th in the prior tout (not average) and stage 17 of 2005 had a very similar performance. After the prologue he did not tets positive for anything, its very odd to positive for testosterone while testing negative on the tests before and after. Its doesn't leave system over night.

Merckx is actually known to be one of the cleanest riders. 3 doping charges, one basically fake, the he was also pretty dubious also for a drug that was later added to the accepted list and the last (1973) he did admit to saying that he should have known better than to trust a doctor.

Oscar Pereiro couldn't win the tour on his best form. Look at his results since. I don't know if Landis doped or not, but Pereiro is not a champion...he is a good racer who happened into a breakaway.
Landis was very average too before 2006. A good help, nothing more. But in the notorious doping team of Phonak, he suddenly rose to unprecedented heights. Classic doping case, if you ask me.

I think that this sport is much more "clean" as it was 2 years ago. Now the riders have to do a lot of controls by the directers of the Tour and by their own team. That is a big step toward the 0% doping.

Bad quoting...that was Jacque Anquetil, and he said "You can't win the tour on Mineral Water." However, Coppi, Anquetil, Thompson, etc. were all big TDF names, in some of it's earlier days, and all took drugs.
Merckx is actually known to be one of the cleanest riders. 3 doping charges, one basically fake, the he was also pretty dubious also for a drug that was later added to the accepted list and the last (1973) he did admit to saying that he should have known better than to trust a doctor.

Floyd is an amazing rider and a great person. One of the few Americans who could adapt and dominate European hard-core riding in the most elite bike race on the planet. True, he doped, but so did every other winning rider in his time. It's totally unfair he got singled out and lost his title. Yet Bjarne Riis who openly admits he doped like a drug addict to obtain his win that year gets to keep his medal? What the he*ll kind of double standard is that?

the amazing thing to me is that they have no shame... they know they cheated and still they celebrate their "victory" and talk about how hard they worked to get there and so on. I can't wait for this years tour de france. Front page: "Armstrong cought shitting dope, Sastre drinking Armstrongs urin".

Oscar Pereiro couldn't win the tour on his best form. Look at his results since. I don't know if Landis doped or not, but Pereiro is not a champion...he is a good racer who happened into a breakaway.

Landis was very average too before 2006. A good help, nothing more. But in the notorious doping team of Phonak, he suddenly rose to unprecedented heights. Classic doping case, if you ask me.

I used to love the Tour. Cycling was my favorite sport. And then bastards like Landis, Heras, Pantani and other cheaters shattered it and shed suspicion over everybody else. Screw them all. I still like cycling, but I don't watch the professionals anymore.

I think that this sport is much more "clean" as it was 2 years ago. Now the riders have to do a lot of controls by the directers of the Tour and by their own team. That is a big step toward the 0% doping.
Floyd did one of the most unbelievable things in the history of the Tour but....
