They have isotope powered stirling motors for many NASA devices. It's a crock I think they still have contact I bet and the public "window" just closed. Untrustable/military based NASA would not even let Canada take credit for it's LIDAR invention which saw snow falling. Solar warming not carbon tax charging global warming.
Barry Goldstein replied to that question later in the conference "I've always speculated that its highly unlikely that the vehicle will come back and there are a number of reasons why. Some of them have to do with the fact that this vehicle will be pretty much encased in c02 ice for an extended period of time. Its going to be dormant in temperatures below -150C.
The solar arrays are likely to crack and fall off the vehicle. We definitely go through the glass transition temperature on the coating of the electronics which means it will become very brittle like glass and will likely crack and break and therefore the printed wiring boards won't work very well. But this vehicle has been so superlative in the way its been behaving that nothing would surprise me. We'll look again in October."

If it's not damaged irreparably and it gets prolonged exposure to sun light could the batteries recharge and thus continue to function?
