I've listened to this song MANY times over the years and it really resonated with me. My dad (aka "The Sperm Donor") abused me and this song was as if someone knew my heart and put the words to what I was going through.

In a strange way, I related to this song too. My natural father did not know me and did not care about me at all. I felt abused considering he knew and wanted a relationship with my three other siblings. The chorus was a mantra because it used to really bother me but it no longer mattered. Take Care.

Yes, the line "You can't hurt me now.... I never felt so good about myself" became very important to me. The first time I heard the song that line was not true for me, and the day it did, was wonderful.

Wonderful. When I sing (karaoke), I do the same thing with notes, especially if the song is too high. Even Madonna changes her own tune and arrangement when she's on the road.

Hearing it a bit different made it fresh for me. Almost made me tear.

Thanks. I have been in music pretty much all my life. I started dabbling into piano around 20 (I am 40 now). I play piano mostly by ear. I do compose and arrange music for all occasions. My wife is a musician so I write stuff for organ, piano and her handbell choir. Take Care.

I love your arrangement of this song. I believe when an artist plays the work of another he should make his own. Playing a song note for note and chord for chord is just mimicry.
