O im not mad...haha i just wnated to make a point. I know that when the 747 is full with fuel, it usually takes off runway 4 or 22. but that wasnt the point u were trying to make. u never said anything about that. you were just simply saying that it doesnt take off 30's or 12's, and that isnt true.
Want to bet? Check out my video from the winter where the first DL painted NW 747 took off to NRT off of runway 30L! And the a380 took off 30L very quickly. I spot planes quite frequently at MSP and most DC9's take longer to take off than the a380 did that day i saw it at MSP
take it easy man, all i am saying is that the lead controller when i was there and the 2 ground controllers that where in the tower said that the 747s when full on fuel have to use 4, maybe why you could see the 747s take off was because it was in the winter, colder air means its easier to take off
but it was just a big plane taking off from an airport, nothing to get mad about
The 747's take off of 30L/12R frequently. The A380 got airborne about 1/2 down the runway. Granted, the A380 only had employees on board and very little baggage, but I was still impressed.
Everyday i go to KMSP to watch planes (atleast twice a week) i see a 747 go out. About 3/4s of the time it takes off from runway 30L/12R with the rest of the traffic. Only on days that a crosswind is present or certain weather conditions exist will the 747 use runway 4/22
but I mean, I dont control at MSP, I have a neighbor in the TRACON, so she can't really say much about runway selection, but I talked to a guy named Chris who said that most of the time the 747s go off 4/22
but, nothing to take personally or get mad it, its a bloody runway at an airport, as long as they get off before they are on the numbers at the other side, then everyone should be happy...
A whole highway is stopped for only an A380?

Ambassador822, that's 30L and 12R!! not 10R.

The thing i like about the a380 is that it has a fast takeoff power and it doesnt use all of the runway

what runway was that? it looked like 31L but i dont think that an a380 with any more than a half hour of fuel could get off of a runway that short...
anyone wanna confirm which runway that was?
comalley0130 2 years ago
its 30L and yes it can take off easily with this much runway...

i talked to some of the air traffic controllers from the msp tower and they said the 747s cant go on any runway but 4, let alone a a380

i didnt think about that
any plane can get off 12l/30r if they get the flaps at like 20 or more, but the guy i talked to at the tower says he only puts 'em off of 4/22
idk, it ends up at the choice of ground and tower, so i guess what i say doesnt make a whole lot of difference, now does it?

30L. The plane actually only used about half the runway during takeoff. This is just the demo model where the inside was empty.

it did have to help that it was empty
