Why didn't they covert the Antonov 225 into a commercial passenger airplane instead of spending alot of money to design a new plane? Is because of political or business reasons?
I know people still love 747, but A380 has completley different design which can provide such a massive body and still, together with all technological aspects, provide lower fuel consumption per passanger, more comfort and less noise.
So there's nothing that Boeing can do to make 747 any better, but completley redisign it. And that takes years and years. All they can do is lower the production cost and therefor concurate A380 with the final cost + lower TCO.

The sound of Rolls Royce engines and birds singing - great combination. The A380 is a technical masterpiece. Bring out a stretch version - and this will become the only economical (one in the morning one in the afternoon) way to travel between hub airports. The 350 and 787 can operate from smaller airports.
I wish i can have the guts to fly this one but my eye where on the A340 first and this one is to big to handle for me *_* i will think about is=t when i reach my first 2000 hours of flight :/

The sound of Rolls Royce engines and birds singing - great combination. The A380 is a technical masterpiece. Bring out a stretch version - and this will become the only economical (one in the morning one in the afternoon) way to travel between hub airports. The 350 and 787 can operate from smaller airports.

Wow. You don't know one thing about planes. The A380 is ridiculously ugly. Yes it's pretty amazing that they built this but it's ugly. The 747 is the most beautiful aircraft flying, and no airplane can take it's place.

Still amazes me how the flap system works in a constant arc like that. Kind of a gull-wing setup utilized I imagine to make clearance for the massive engines.
