Tyra, nice "documentary" of old-fashioned mochi-making! It probably tastes much better fresh, but too much trouble to make so I'll keep buying mine from the frozen food section.

i love mochi with miso or with redbean!
anything else, i dont like. esp. ice cream, it makes the mochi harder to chew.

no, it's rice that's pounded into an elastic glutenous paste-like consistency, almost like chewing gum but less stringy.

Mochi is fun, though if your not careful you can very easily choke on it :S I love it in soup.
