Omg! I dont think his personality matches albel but his personality fits PERFECTLY!!! I was shocked cause star ocean is like so ancient, didnt think anyone else would remember it. The fighting style is similar too!

How come sometimes his A and Y button attacks switch with each other? Is he playing with someone else? Or can you set different button layouts for different characters?

At a certain party level(5 I think), the buttons will randomly switch around to make it a bit trickier for you. It's kinda annoying...

Polka has a new wepon that constantly keeps her in darkness, so she cant heal, i have 3 angel trumpets and no healing items , everyone is about level 25- Ole' fredric is level 22 or something

Might have to start over

The same thing happened to me. I'm guessing you're in the sharp mountains. Just keep going until you get into the Lava place ( dont remember the name) and you get another Umbrella for Polka quite early on.
